Chapter 16 : Senpai cooked me a meal

Miyamizu Shrine was, of course, not the location of the ability user academy.

Regarding this, Miyamizu Rin’s explanation was: “Of course I wouldn’t take you there right away. Before that, you’ll stay at Miyamizu Shrine for a while.”

Fine, he would stay. Arisugawa Yuu didn’t resist much.

Not to mention the serene environment here and the company of a beauty like Miyamizu-senpai, which made it hard to dislike, he had wanted to escape the control of his disobedient sister anyway.

After leading Arisugawa Yuu to one of the rooms, Miyamizu Rin said to him, “You sit here for a while, I’ll go make dinner.”

Arisugawa Yuu was curious: “I didn’t expect Miyamizu-senpai to know how to cook.”

Miyamizu Rin glanced at Arisugawa Yuu with her clear, beautiful eyes, her voice cold: “Why, can’t I?”

“It’s not that you can’t, it’s just surprising that a beauty like Miyamizu-senpai, who seems to be above worldly affairs, would need to do these things herself.”

Through the light, Arisugawa Yuu noticed a flash of pain on Miyamizu Rin’s beautiful face, and her cold voice betrayed little emotion: “I’m the only one in Miyamizu Shrine.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it.”

Arisugawa Yuu looked apologetic.

He remembered what the girl had said before—‘You have one more day as an ordinary person. Cherish it. After this, you’ll never experience it again.’

“It’s alright, it’s all in the past.”

Miyamizu Rin turned away, her figure seemingly composed, yet slightly trembling.

Was it really in the past?

Arisugawa Yuu wanted to ask, but after some thought, he kept his mouth shut.

No need to ask, the girl’s reaction at this moment was the answer.

Silence fell, the air heavy with unspoken words.

After a long time, Miyamizu Rin sighed softly, “Arisugawa-san, you should sit for a while.”

After saying this, she took a step, preparing to go cook.

Arisugawa Yuu stood up: “Miyamizu-senpai, let me help.”

Miyamizu Rin turned to look at Arisugawa Yuu.

Arisugawa Yuu met her gaze without flinching.

The girl’s beautiful eyes were clear yet deep, filled with many things that were hard to understand.

At this moment, Arisugawa Yuu felt a strange feeling in his heart.

He asked himself: How long have you known the girl in front of you?

Answer: Less than two days.

He asked again: Do you like her?

Answer: I wouldn’t say I like her, but I do have a good impression of her.

He asked again and again: And besides that?

Answer: If possible, I’d like to get to know her more deeply.

He asked again and again and again: Which ‘deeply’?

Before Arisugawa Yuu could come up with an answer, Miyamizu Rin chuckled softly, “If you want to come, then come.”

He wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but he felt that Miyamizu Rin’s words had a hint of a double meaning.

It must be his imagination.

Dinner was very simple.

Besides rice, there was fried tofu with lotus root slices, seaweed and egg drop soup, and fried fish.

Although the dishes were simple, they tasted surprisingly good. The rice was sweet and delicious, the fried tofu had a light fragrance, the seaweed and egg drop soup was refreshing, and the fried fish had the aroma of oil mixed with spices.

The two of them sat across from each other, looking like a harmonious pair of siblings, or perhaps, a young couple?

Miyamizu Rin held up her small bowl with her delicate hand and gracefully drank a mouthful of soup.

Her moist, crimson lips glistened in the light, moistened by the soup, exuding a special charm as they opened and closed.

Perhaps because the soup was a little hot, her delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly, and her snow-white face was tinged with a intoxicating blush.

This was probably what they meant by “a feast for the eyes,” right?

Arisugawa Yuu took a large mouthful of rice and couldn’t help but think of the scene in the kitchen earlier.

The beautiful girl busy by the stove looked as obedient and virtuous as a newlywed wife—although there were many better descriptions, Arisugawa Yuu couldn’t help but want to describe her this way.

Who would have thought that Miyamizu-senpai, who seemed beautiful and unattainable, would have such a side?

Lost in thought, Arisugawa Yuu heard someone say in his ear, “Arisugawa-san, Arisugawa-san.”

At this moment, there was only one person who would call him that—Miyamizu Rin.

Arisugawa Yuu snapped back to reality and looked at Miyamizu Rin’s delicate face: “What’s wrong, Miyamizu-senpai?”

Miyamizu Rin pointed to Arisugawa Yuu’s empty bowl with her delicate finger, her voice cold: “Arisugawa-san, if you’re not full, there’s still rice in the pot.”

Ah, this—

Arisugawa Yuu then realized that he had been thinking about things and hadn’t even noticed that he had finished his meal. His chopsticks were just scraping aimlessly in the empty bowl.

“Sorry, Miyamizu-senpai is too beautiful, I got lost looking at you.”

Miyamizu Rin stood up and didn’t respond to Arisugawa Yuu’s words: “I’ll get it for you.”

“Okay.”

Arisugawa Yuu handed her the empty bowl.

As a result, Miyamizu Rin served all the remaining rice in the pot to Arisugawa Yuu.

Looking at the bowl of rice placed back in front of him, Arisugawa Yuu couldn’t help but ask, “Senpai, why did you give it all to me? Aren’t you eating?”

Miyamizu Rin drank the last mouthful of soup and put down her bowl and chopsticks: “I’m full.”

“Miyamizu-senpai, you ate so little. No wonder you have such a good figure. As expected, beautiful girls are all self-“

Before Arisugawa Yuu could say the word “disciplined,” he was interrupted by Miyamizu Rin: “It’s you who eats too much.”

“Senpai, it’s rude to interrupt someone when they’re talking.”

Miyamizu Rin glanced at Arisugawa Yuu: “Praising a girl so glibly in her face isn’t very polite either.”

“…”

Alright, you’re beautiful, you’re right.

After dinner, Miyamizu Rin went to wash the dishes, and Arisugawa Yuu took the opportunity to look around the room.

Unlike what he had imagined, the room’s layout wasn’t “primitive.” On the contrary, there were many modern appliances.

Things like air conditioners, refrigerators, and televisions.

Besides these appliances, there were also many potted plants in the corner, including succulents, cacti, and many plants that Arisugawa Yuu couldn’t name.

On the walls hung several paintings. Although he couldn’t understand them, he could tell they were by famous artists and were valuable.

Overall, the room was full of life.

It seemed that even though she was alone, Miyamizu-senpai was living a good life.

This kind of attitude towards life was worthy of praise.

Just as he was thinking this, Miyamizu Rin came back after finishing her chores.

The two of them met eyes instantly.

The night was long, a man and a woman alone, it sounded ambiguous.

Perhaps influenced by this subtle atmosphere, Miyamizu Rin, who met Arisugawa Yuu’s gaze, was a little flustered. She touched her rosy face with her delicate hand unnaturally: “Arisugawa-san, is there something on my face?”

Looking at Miyamizu Rin’s flustered and cute appearance, Arisugawa Yuu couldn’t help but feel the urge to tease her: “Yes, senpai.”

“W-What is it?”

“The sunset.”

“Huh? What does that mean?”

After a while, Miyamizu Rin finally realized what Arisugawa Yuu meant.

He was saying she was blushing.

Miyamizu Rin’s face turned cold: “Arisugawa-san, has anyone ever told you that you’re very annoying?”

Arisugawa Yuu waved his hand: “Unfortunately, no.”

“Well, now someone has.”

“…”

Facts proved that you shouldn’t joke around when a girl is shy.
