While it was still early evening.
She took the initiative to bid farewell to the great ice cold Sect Master.
Before leaving, Su Li’er tried her best to maintain a sweet smile. But once she was down the mountain, gloomy clouds gathered over her, and her whole being turned into a salted fish.
‘Only 28 hours of lifespan left…’
‘Sigh.’
‘This is too hard.’
Hiding in the small grove, Su Li’er crushed the teleportation stone and stepped into the space-time tunnel.
The next second, she opened her eyes.
She was already in the general store. Lighting a lamp, Su Li’er scanned the decor; it was still new. Only a day had passed, so there probably wasn’t any dust.
‘So tired.’
‘Today was so long… so many things happened.’
—Plop.
She fell back onto the soft bed and undid her disguise.
Her tail and fox ears could finally be displayed comfortably. Her whole body felt at ease, and Su Li’er couldn’t help but let out a long, melodious, and enchanting moan.
“Ahhh…! That feels good!”
‘To hell with the sweet junior sister persona.’
‘It’s so suffocating!’
‘Being myself is the most real.’
“So annoying, so annoying, so annoying!”
Su Li’er transformed into a rice ball again, rolling around on the bed, wrapping the quilt around herself.
‘If I had known, I wouldn’t have saved that stupid Song Ruoxue!… But if I hadn’t saved her, she would have been gone… Ah, so frustrating!’
‘What can I do in 28 hours?’
‘Find a good spot and just go to sleep and wait to be reborn?’
‘Frustrating, frustrating, frustrating!’
‘I’m just saying, can’t a big customer come by, so I can absorb a little more lifespan!’
Su Li’er rolled around until she was panting and sweating. ‘Forget it, I’ll just go to sleep. I’ll get up early tomorrow and find someone to absorb lifespan from!’
The crescent moon outside the window gradually grew hazy.
Sparks flew from the fireplace, occasionally making a crackling sound.
There was a strange feeling of her body floating.
‘That’s right.’
Her consciousness was crystal clear, her body stiff… Su Li’er’s eyes snapped open. She kicked the blanket off in frustration, and it fell unceremoniously onto the wooden floor.
‘Damn it! Insomnia…’
When she closed her eyes, waves of anxiety rushed in like a landslide and tsunami. There was no way she could sleep like this!
Su Li’er stroked her small chin and paced back and forth. The pattering sound of her feet on the floor was like a piano performance.
It was a sorrowful and urgent piece.
Just listening to it was enough to make one’s hair stand on end.
‘Counting the time… in 24 hours, my lifespan will be gone.’
‘Damn it.’
‘Being a fox is too hard… sob sob sob sob’
‘No, this can’t go on. There’s nowhere to absorb lifespan in the middle of the night. At the very least, I need to get enough sleep and regain my physical strength… then think of a way first thing in the morning.’
In order to sleep well.
Su Li’er had no choice but to start doing elementary school broadcast gymnastics.
She didn’t know how much time had passed.
It wasn’t until her legs were cramping from all the kicking and her back was sore that Su Li’er sullenly picked up the bedding, crawled back into bed, and went to sleep.
****
The next day.
When Su Li’er woke up naturally, she was instantly filled with regret. She knelt on the mattress, raised her hands high, her face full of sorrow, and murmured at the ceiling, “Oh heavens, oh earth, why isn’t there an alarm clock in this world! Damn it… I only have 9 hours of lifespan left!”
Her snow-white hair was a mess, her fox ears were slightly folded, and the fur on her nine tails was puffed up.
—Grumble grumble.
Her stomach was growling.
Su Li’er got out of bed with a look of utter despair, clutching her small belly. She stood in front of the mirror, staring blankly at herself.
‘What now?’
‘Do I wait for a customer to come to the shop, or do I take the initiative?’
‘There are basically no customers at the general store. I could probably wait for ten days and no one would come…’
‘If I take the initiative, where should I go?’
‘The great ice block Song Ruoxue has already left the Sword Sect, so where can I go?’
‘The anxiety is back…’
Su Li’er, throwing caution to the wind, simply lifted the curtain. She didn’t even have time to change out of her nightgown, and walked barefoot out of the bedroom and into the general store. She found a small stool, sat down, and stared intently at the curtained entrance, like a steadfast door god.
She clasped her hands together and prayed earnestly.
“Come on, someone, come on, someone, come on, someone… anyone will do, just come…”
—Swoosh.
The curtain was gently lifted.
A tall woman wearing a veil slowly walked in. Her clear and cold eyes carried an endless chill.
“Shopkeeper?”
Su Li’er quickly opened her eyes, her hands still in a prayer position, and smiled in pleasant surprise. “Sister Song, you’re here. I was waiting for you.”
Song XiaoXiao couldn’t help but take a step back.
Su Li’er quickly reached out to stop her. “Sister Song, don’t go!”
Song XiaoXiao hesitated for a moment, then walked into the general store and, as if it were her own home, found a stool and sat down. “Hello, shopkeeper.”
Only then did Su Li’er breathe a sigh of relief, as if a great weight had been lifted. She clutched her forehead with a worried expression. “What would Sister Song like to drink?”
“Anything,” said Song XiaoXiao.
“How about some wine?” Su Li’er asked.
“No!” Song XiaoXiao immediately refused, her emotions agitated.
Su Li’er was startled, her fox ears perked up. “Shh! Keep it down, you’ll wake the old folks nearby and get a complaint!”
Song XiaoXiao turned her face away and took a few deep breaths. “Mm.”
—Snap.
With a snap of her fingers, a large bottle of cola instantly appeared on the table.
Su Li’er skillfully filled two glasses, handed one over, and said with a cheerful smile, “Please, Sister Song, this is a well-regarded tea from my hometown.”
Song XiaoXiao glanced down at the cup of pitch-black tea. “Shopkeeper, I came here today because I have something important to ask you.”
—Swoosh.
Su Li’er waved her hand, an expression of supreme confidence on her face. “Please, speak.”
Song XiaoXiao looked out into the courtyard with suspicion in her heart.
“Don’t be afraid, Sister Song. I have already set up a formation that no one in this world can break or eavesdrop on,” Su Li’er said calmly, crossing her legs, her small foot swinging slightly.
Hearing this, an irrepressible shock still rose in her heart.
‘Does this nine-tailed fox claim to be the strongest of her time? So confident… Although she does have some tricks up her sleeve, this is far too arrogant.’
“Is Sister Song here to buy something today, or…” Su Li’er’s eyes narrowed, a pinkish light flickering within them, “do you have a request?”
Song XiaoXiao said, “Help me heal my source of life.”
Su Li’er’s eyes lit up. “Of course! Shall we start now?”
‘Great, heaven has not abandoned me, Su Li’er! My wish has come true!’
‘I can finally absorb some lifespan~~’
‘As expected, I’m the protagonist, hehe!’
A resolute emotion flashed in Song XiaoXiao’s eyes. “No problem.”
—She still lifted the curtain and returned to the bedroom.
Su Li’er was extremely satisfied. With her hands on her hips, she looked as if she were commanding the world. “Sister Song, take off your clothes!”
“…Alright.” Song XiaoXiao’s brows furrowed slightly. She suppressed the anger in her heart and took off her clothes like a machine.
The long dress.
The inner shirt.
The leggings.
Even her shoes and socks were taken off.
Song XiaoXiao stood like a beautiful ice sculpture in the center of the bedroom, the emotions in her eyes as calm as still water.
Su Li’er’s mouth hung open. Besides marveling at the repeat customer’s decisiveness, she also sensed that something was wrong…’What was going on?’
‘Why is this customer so cooperative today?’
“Then… Sister Song, shall we begin the treatment?” Su Li’er asked tentatively.
“Let’s begin.” Song XiaoXiao nodded, still cold and stunningly beautiful.
—Poke.
The customer had no reaction.
—Poke again.
The customer still had no reaction.
‘—Then I’ll touch her, I’ll touch her hard!’
‘The customer still had no reaction… Wait!’
‘There is, there’s a big problem!’
Su Li’er suddenly realized what was wrong.
‘This customer is just letting it all hang out… she’s not giving me any reaction at all!’
‘Then I won’t be able to make her exude Charm, and I won’t be able to absorb any lifespan…’
