Chapter 17: The Marshal’s Fall and the Battle Sovereign’s Progress

Deep within the Origin Star Universe, nestled in the 14th sub-world of the World Tree, lay the primary world controlled by the Yurtez Tribe.

Marshal Jacksa, of the Yurtez Tribe’s interstellar fleet, sat leisurely in his office, savoring a glass of Moon God’s Heart. This exquisite wine, the most precious and rare in the Origin Star Universe, was produced by the Elf Tribe. He eagerly awaited news of victory from the Komsa Mercenary Army.

In recent days, nearly all races within the Anska Alliance had been abuzz with discussions and celebrations regarding the birth of a new Primal. For the weaker races, the emergence of a new Battle Sovereign signified a significant leap in the Alliance’s defensive capabilities against the Outer Domain.

It was, without a doubt, a joyous occasion.

However, not all races were pleased by this development. The moment Jacksa received the report confirming the new Battle Sovereign’s birth, his composure nearly shattered. Historical records showed that the birth of a new Battle Sovereign invariably heralded the rise of a new race.

The existing ‘cake’ was already being grudgingly shared among eleven other races; how could they tolerate yet another race profiting from it in the future?

‘No!!’

This was especially true for the Yurtez Tribe. They had been locked in a struggle with two other formidable fifth-tier interstellar civilizations for almost a hundred cycles—approximately three hundred years—to claim ownership of the World Tree’s 47th and most recently born sub-world.

They had poured immeasurable military and financial resources into this conflict. To have a new race, one blessed with a newborn Primal, suddenly emerge just as victory was within their grasp, was an unbearable prospect.

Races possessing Primal Battle Sovereigns, such as the Dragon and Elf Tribes, would undoubtedly unite. Under the guise of strengthening defenses against the Outer Domain by aiding the new race’s development, they would undoubtedly bestow the 47th sub-world upon them—just as they had when the Sky Feather Tribe’s Primal was born!

Those factions certainly did not wish for the Yurtez Tribe to grow overly powerful.

Moreover, this situation could potentially expand the Anska Alliance’s core races to thirteen. If seven of those thirteen races, all boasting Primal Battle Sovereigns, were to collude, where would that leave the Yurtez Tribe? He absolutely refused to allow such a scenario to unfold.

Fortunately, the high-ranking officials within his tribe also recognized the gravity of the issue and fully supported his strategy. With their immense financial backing, Jacksa successfully hired the Komsa Mercenary Army, renowned for their Black Origin Stone fleet.

With the assistance of such a top-tier anti-reconnaissance fleet, it would be effortless to evade a Battle Sovereign’s senses and obliterate a third-tier civilization’s planet.

Furthermore, the target was merely a nascent, weak civilization, and their Battle Sovereign had only just been born, surely unfamiliar with their abilities. Operating in such a spiritual energy-depleted cosmic frontier, the extent of the Battle Sovereign’s recovered strength was also an unknown variable.

Considering all factors, the probability of the plan’s success was exceptionally high.

Thus, as the Komsa Mercenary Army departed for the Milky Way Galaxy, Jacksa confidently settled in to await the good tidings. If the newborn Battle Sovereign could not be eliminated, so be it; after all, a Primal Battle Sovereign still served a purpose in resisting the Outer Domain.

However, that minor race had to be annihilated!

There was little need to worry about retaliation. Primal Battle Sovereigns were bound by special rules imposed by the Creator, generally prohibiting them from acting against fifth-tier interstellar civilizations. Therefore, even if they were discovered as the masterminds, the loss would not be too great.

As Jacksa savored the Moon God’s Heart, the information indicator light on his desk illuminated. Jacksa decisively opened the communication.

Observing the young officer projected before him, Jacksa inquired, “Is there something you need to report, Flo?”

“Reporting, Marshal! We’ve just received a message from the Komsa Mercenary Army!”

“Hoh-hoh, did they succeed?” Jacksa’s tone brimmed with anticipation.

Yet, at that moment, the young officer’s expression shifted to one of palpable fear. He stammered, clearly struggling to speak, “They seem to have been attacked. The message was only a distress signal… ‘Help me’….”

Upon hearing this, Jacksa slammed his hand on the desk, scattering the precious wine onto the floor. “How is this possible! What happened?” Jacksa demanded, his voice laced with fury.

“Our reconnaissance unit just observed that the Komsa Mercenary Army… at… at the edge of the Solar System… was completely… annihilated! Only a pile of scrap metal… floats there… and their Black Origin Stones were dismantled by someone….”

“What!?”

Jacksa’s emotions plummeted from heaven to hell. How could this be? The plan was flawless; it couldn’t have gone wrong!

“Marshal… don’t worry… they won’t trace it back to us. We placed the order through other intermediaries.”

“Send someone to investigate if any other Battle Sovereigns or fleets went to the Solar System. Report any findings immediately.”

Jacksa gradually regained his composure, issuing new orders to his subordinate.

“Yes, sir!”

Following his subordinate’s affirmation, the projection flickered off.

Jacksa leaned back in his office chair, a wave of frustration washing over him. ‘Could it be… could this newborn Battle Sovereign’s authority be related to reconnaissance? Is that how they detected the Komsa Mercenary Army from such a distance?’ Regardless, a new plan had to be devised immediately.

Meanwhile, on Blue Star, in Cangyang City, Lin Ling’s diligent practice over the past week had paid off.

She could now perfectly control the Sacred Spirit Power that composed her body. She could revert to her original male appearance at any time, though maintaining it would consume a significant amount of spiritual energy. This meant she would face no pressure when dealing with her parents and friends.

As for her spiritual energy, Lin Ling felt that within another week, it would recover to its minimum usable level. From there, it would only take a few hours to reach her peak condition. The thought brought a small thrill of excitement.

Little White had frequently teased her these past few days, calling her recovery abilities trash and claiming that even other Battle Sovereigns, not even Primal ones, were stronger than her. This had somewhat dented Lin Ling’s confidence.

‘Little White also said my perception was poor before… Is there really nothing I’m good at?’

As the silver-haired girl wallowed in her gloom, a golden-haired little girl slowly made her way towards Lin Ling’s apartment building within her residential complex.

Earlier, when she had intended to visit, Lin Ling was immersed in the sea of consciousness, studying spiritual energy control techniques and various other knowledge. The little girl decided not to disturb her.

Besides, she was rather intrigued by the civilization of this planet. What would a planet devoid of spiritual energy develop into?

With this question in mind, the little girl had wandered extensively.

As she explored, she discovered that because this planet lacked spiritual energy, its inhabitants did not dedicate vast amounts of time and effort to spiritual cultivation, magic research, and learning, unlike her own race. Consequently, the planet offered a dazzling array of entertainment activities, so much so that the little girl had completely lost herself in play.

She had, in fact, entirely forgotten the purpose of her visit.

0-0

It was only moments ago, when the Dragon Emperor, her elder brother, had teleported an item to her as a gift for Lin Ling, that the little girl recalled her original objective for coming to Blue Star.

Only then did she waddle over, otherwise, there’s no telling where she might have wandered off to.
