Chapter 17 : The Museum

Sinhe City Museum.

This was a public museum built ten years ago in Sinhe City.
It detailed the development and changes of Sinhe City over the past fifty years and housed some old tools, medals, and even a bus that had been retired for thirty years.

Rachel sat on a public bench for visitors in the museum.
On the wall in front of her hung a large picture frame with a black background and gold trim, displaying a photo of the Sinhe City church, with a dense block of text below it.

“Why come to a place like this? It even charged me seven bucks,” Rick, wearing a patterned short-sleeved shirt, walked to the bench and sat down next to Rachel, leaving a little distance between them.

“Why did it charge you?” Rachel turned her head and looked at Rick with a deadpan expression.
“Oh, I remember now, you’re not a local.”

“Yeah, I’m from Nuowen, but I know both places very well.”

Rick chattered on like a sparrow, discussing the price differences and dining standards of restaurants in the two places, talking about the time it took to drive around the city, and the topic even drifted to the respective amusement parks and tourist attractions of the two cities.
Finally, Rachel had to interrupt him and get him to talk about business.

“Why are you in such a hurry this time? This is the first time you’ve contacted me on the same day and wanted to meet on the same day.”

“It’s none of your business… well, I can’t say it has nothing to do with you, but the more you know, the faster you’ll get cold,” Rachel said.
“I need you to find someone.”

“In Sinhe? Who?”

“Have you ever heard of the ‘Arsonist’?”

“Blake Morton? The perpetrator of the ‘Owens Family Massacre Case’?”

“I didn’t expect him to be so famous. Then do you know what he looks like?”

“Yes, he’s in Sinhe City?” Rick said in shock.
“Are you serious?”

“Do I look like I’m joking? Joking with you?”

Rick stood up abruptly, froze for a second, and subconsciously reached for his pocket, wanting to take out a cigarette.
Then he remembered that smoking was prohibited here, so he had to stop all his actions and stand still.

“Calmed down yet?” Rachel glanced at Rick with a look of contempt.
“He’s not even near you, what are you so nervous about? Besides, I’m with you, you’re safe.”

Then she added, “At least for now.”

Rick took a deep breath and asked, “What do you want to do?”

“I want to track him down. He’s in Sinhe City right now. I know you can’t find him right away, and I don’t expect you to. But I know you have a lot of underlings and followers who hang around the streets and alleys of Sinhe. I want your people to keep their eyes peeled during this time. The moment they spot him, notify me immediately. Also, he’s a sorcerer, so don’t just pay attention to his face. Pay attention to his body type and other things.”

“Other things?”

“Features, behavior, or other things that are out of place. Anyway, you can’t just rely on looking at his face to find him, unless he doesn’t hide himself.”

Rachel exhaled a breath of cold air, which lowered the surrounding temperature by a few degrees.
“I miss him very much. I can’t wait to see him now.”

Rick was silent for a moment, still immersed in the shock of the “Arsonist” coming to Sinhe.
This was a big deal for him.
If anything went wrong, he, who was in this city, might not be able to get away with it.

“I understand,” he took another deep breath.
“Even for my own sake, I will do my best to help you with this matter.”

“Second thing, the documents you gave me the other day, are they for everyone at the Astral Academy?”

“I definitely didn’t give you the students’, and you don’t need the janitors’ information, do you?”

“Besides the students, all the prominent figures at the Astral Academy are in there, right?”

“Yes, besides the students.”

“Then can you help me check on someone? He claims to be from the Astral Academy, but that person is not in your documents.”

This was the reason why Rachel had sent Yuhui away.
Not only did she want Rick to help her keep an eye on Blake’s whereabouts, but another purpose was to find out Yuhui’s true identity as much as possible.
It was basically certain now that Yuhui’s identity was fake, and it was very likely that Old Luo was in on it with him.

This morning, before she entered Old Luo’s office, “Quiet and Soundless” was already activated, which meant that Old Luo and Yuhui had already been discussing for some time in the office.
If Yuhui was lying, then it was highly likely that Old Luo was also helping him lie to her.
But why would they do that?
The two of them probably knew each other before, and for a long time.
Old Luo’s trust in him exceeded his trust in her, which was why he would help him hide it.
Now it seemed that the only one who knew Yuhui’s true identity was probably Old Luo.

When Rachel first entered the office, she thought that “Quiet and Soundless” was to prevent the leakage of information about the operation to capture the “Arsonist.”
But now that she thought about it, it was probably to hide the conversation between Old Luo and Yuhui, so that even people from the Bureau of Abnormal Affairs wouldn’t know what they said.

Actually, she herself didn’t care about the relationship between these two people or what kind of friendship they had.
If it were any other time, she would just turn a blind eye and let it go.
But now she had to work with him, and it was about a high-level wanted criminal.
Not knowing the enemy, and even her teammate hiding something from her, made her very uncomfortable.
Rachel felt that they might cause her to suffer some great loss in the future, or get involved in some incredible event, or even face a life-threatening situation.

That Yuhui probably had some kind of psionic ability.
She didn’t know the specific effect, but it was obviously able to link with his weapons.
Just now, when she had Steve shoot at the monster corpse, the effect was far from what Yuhui’s pistol could do.
But the problem was that the pistol bullets of the Bureau of Abnormal Affairs and Yuhui’s Beretta were both 9mm Parabellum pistol bullets.
Logically, the effect shouldn’t be that different, so the difference was still with Yuhui.

Of course, there was another possibility that Yuhui’s gun had been specially modified, or had been enchanted with magic, giving it a lethality far beyond conventional weapons.

“I have to pour cold water on you,” Rick probably guessed what Rachel wanted to do.
“I’m not as amazing as you think. My connections can only check people in Sinhe City. Although I got you that document this time, the content is semi-public within a certain range, plus I was lucky. I’m not that lucky every time. If you want me to check someone in the entire Empire, I can only say you’re daydreaming.”

“Tsk,” Rachel closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead.
She felt so annoyed now.
Why were there so many annoying things, so troublesome and annoying, and this couldn’t be done and that couldn’t be done well.
She really wanted to just throw everything away and not care about it.

“Then that’s it, I’m leaving,” Rachel stood up.
“By the way, pay more attention to your own safety. If something happens to you outside, I might not be able to save you.”
