After a long period of trying.
Su Li’er was in despair, her face a deathly pallor. Looking at the huge mounds before her, she burned with anger and couldn’t resist reaching out to give them a slap. The mounds swayed instantly.
“What are you doing!?” she was met with Song XiaoXiao’s furious glare.
“I’m sick of these things.” Su Li’er disdainfully pushed away the huge mounds in front of her, walked out of the bedroom alone, and sat back down on the small stool, staring blankly at the scenery outside the shop entrance.
A dark line appeared on Song XiaoXiao’s forehead.
‘Damn it.’
‘Is there something wrong with this goddamned nine-tailed fox’s brain?’
‘I can’t take it anymore, I can’t endure it!’
‘I’m going to the fields to pull up some radishes and stew her!’
“Ah… useless milk cow.” Su Li’er propped her cheek up with her small hand, her expression lifeless.
Song XiaoXiao got dressed, walked out filled with rage, and stood directly in the shop’s doorway, looming over the nine-tailed fox, sizing her up as if inspecting a delicious meal.
“Slender arms and legs, and short too. Only your tails have a bit more meat on them. Not even enough to fill a pot.”
“Damn it?! Milk cow, watch your words!” Su Li’er shot up from the ground, stood on her tiptoes, and lifted her small face to glare back fiercely.
“Please don’t treat me as emergency food!”
“Who are you calling a milk cow?” Song XiaoXiao took several deep breaths, her knuckles cracking.
“I’m talking about you!” Su Li’er stroked her small chin, faced the huge mounds, and once again reached out, not too lightly and not too heavily…
—Slap.
The huge mounds swayed violently.
“You goddamned fox!!!” Song XiaoXiao completely lost it.
“Ahhh… let go! Let go!” Su Li’er’s little meat buns were viciously pinched. Her whole body arched in pain, her face contorted.
“If you don’t let go, I’m going to hit you!”
—Click.
The sound made as her little meat buns were released.
“…Holy crap!” Su Li’er couldn’t help but roar at the sky in fury, then squatted down in pain, her arms wrapped tightly around her chest, her head bowed, letting out a pitiful and shrill cry.
Her fox ears drooped slightly.
Her nine tails also became listless.
“Uh, I didn’t expect you to be in so much pain.” Song XiaoXiao came to her senses, a hint of apology in her voice.
“I didn’t do it on purpose, are you alright…”
“Perfect chance!” Su Li’er suddenly lifted her small face, her eyes twinkling with the color of success.
She leaped up, using the strength of her core, and delivered a powerful slap that whistled through the air.
—SLAP!!!
The huge mounds flew like an uncontrollable kite, completely out of control.
Song XiaoXiao’s face instantly turned green, her eyes looked like they were about to pop out, and her whole body trembled uncontrollably.
“Revenge is a success!” Su Li’er crossed her arms, striking a victor’s pose.
“Are you ready to be steamed or braised?” Song XiaoXiao’s face was frosty.
“Eh?” Su Li’er’s spirits lifted. “Sister Song, don’t be angry. I’m transmitting the power of the Heavenly Dao to you.”
Song XiaoXiao’s expression froze instantly.
“It’s just that… Sister Song’s relapse this time is really too severe!” Su Li’er said with concern. “Your source of life has almost dried up, and there are even a few cracks. I made several attempts just now and only managed to repair a tiny crack… this injury is too grave.”
“Something came up recently.” Song XiaoXiao’s face was grim, her voice cold, her attitude poor.
“Something came up?” Su Li’er gracefully sat back down on the small stool and refilled a glass with cola. “Tell me about it?”
“Fine.” Song XiaoXiao also sat at the other end of the table, her tone still cold and unpleasant. “The matter at the Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion… the shopkeeper has heard about it, right?”
Su Li’er fell into deep thought.
‘Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion? Isn’t that where the Sect Master and I went on a date?’
‘Is she talking about the fight that happened there yesterday?’
“Why does Sister Song ask about this?” Su Li’er said curiously.
“It seems the shopkeeper knows?” A flicker of an unreadable emotion passed through Song XiaoXiao’s eyes. “Yesterday, a robbery occurred at the Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion. I… no, the Sword Sect Master was ambushed. Afterwards, that bandit died for some inexplicable reason.”
Su Li’er nodded, still feeling curious. “Interesting.”
“It’s more than just interesting…” Song XiaoXiao began to tap her fingers on the table. “During the follow-up investigation, a few strange hairs were found in the Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion.”
“Hairs?” Su Li’er’s heart skipped a beat.
“Let me show the shopkeeper.” Song XiaoXiao had an expression of someone completely in control. With a flick of her hand, her long, slender fingertips held a few fine, snow-white hairs. They were slightly curved, and if it weren’t for the good light outside, they would be hard to see under normal circumstances!
Su Li’er recognized where these hairs came from in a single glance!
‘Damn it.’
‘That’s fur from my tail!’
‘What on earth does this customer want!?’
“Judging by the shopkeeper’s expression, you should know what this is, right?” Song XiaoXiao’s gaze was fixed on the nine fluffy, snow-white fox tails.
“Of course.” Su Li’er feigned calmness and lifted her small chin.
“Then can the shopkeeper please explain?” Song XiaoXiao asked the question that had been puzzling her, which was one of the reasons she had come to the general store today. “Why did this appear in the Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion?”
Su Li’er maintained the cool composure of a master, showing no reaction.
In reality, her mind was already in chaos!
‘She’s asking me why I was at the Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion?’
‘It’s obviously because I wanted to protect my experience pack, the Sword Sect Master Song Ruoxue!’
‘But can I say that out loud?’
‘Which bastard investigated my fox fur!’
‘Damn it!’
‘Su Li’er, you are a clever and cool-headed fox. In this situation, you have to learn to be flexible…’
‘First, this milk cow… no, this customer is asking why I was at the Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion. Could it be that she has some connection to the Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion?’
‘Or is she just making small talk?’
‘Things being as they are… I should probe the situation first.’
“Sister Song.” Su Li’er took a sip of cola, her gaze calm. “How many people know about this matter?”
“Is the little Heavenly Dao afraid?” Song XiaoXiao was somewhat surprised, reciting in a sarcastic tone, “Is there anything in this world that the little Heavenly Dao is afraid of?”
“I’m just asking casually. If worst comes to worst, I’ll just wipe out everyone in Flower City,” Su Li’er said, her eyes narrowing.
A chill.
Bone-piercingly cold.
The killing intent materialized… the air trembled.
‘Is this nine-tailed fox serious?’
Song XiaoXiao glanced at the trembling air around her and thought for a moment. “Only two people know about this. One is me, and the other is that detective.”
Su Li’er slammed her hand on the table, splashing cola everywhere. “Which detective!?”
Song XiaoXiao was silent for a moment. “I have already promised her. I cannot say.”
Su Li’er let out a light huff, pouting unhappily. “Fine, then I won’t ask.”
‘She’s not asking?’
Song XiaoXiao was stunned, finding it strange… ‘Normally, shouldn’t this arrogant nine-tailed fox use soul-searching or forceful means to obtain information?’
‘Could it be that she’s a good fox?’
‘And why on earth did this nine-tailed fox go to the Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion…? ’
‘The wounds on that bandit’s body still radiated a terrifying power of the Heavenly Dao even after several hours…’
‘Why did this nine-tailed fox make a move?’
“So, why was the shopkeeper at the Cloud Sea Sword Tower? And why did she kill that bandit?” Song XiaoXiao asked.
“That? It was, of course, to save the Sword Sect Master and that poor little junior sister.” Su Li’er spread her hands, her tone as calm as water.
