Chapter 2: Demonic Spies

Who was it?!

Leaving the city now would be suicide!

Luo Li’s eyes locked onto an old, withered-looking nun.

Her nun’s robe was clearly different from the others.

While the other nuns wore plain black robes, this one wore a white nun’s robe.

The moment she saw her, Luo Li’s mind buzzed like it had been hit, and a flood of memories rushed into her brain.

It was her!

The woman who took over nearly all of the original Saintess’s duties, who controlled half of the Moon Nation—the

assistant nun sent by the Pope… Martha!

“Your Highness, it’s time to depart! If we don’t leave now, it’ll be too late!”

In this situation, once she left Glorious City and lost the “blessing of God,” and with no guardian knight by her side, she,

who had almost no combat power, would basically be a weak little chick waving a silk handkerchief at the demon army,

flirting:

“Hey big boys, come play~”

Even thinking with your toes, you’d know how that would end.

After absorbing all the original Saintess’s memories, Luo Li finally understood her current situation.

She was a Saintess, just recently chosen—not even a year into the role. And Martha was sent by the Holy Church to

guide and take care of her.

But clearly, Martha wasn’t just there to look after her.

To be more accurate, she was sent to spy on her!

In this world, the Holy Church controlled most of humanity’s territory. But because the land was so vast, it was divided

into eight regions, each ruled by either one of the seven Saintesses or the Pope.

And the personal nun of a Saintess held great authority—almost all of Luo Li’s daily affairs were controlled by Martha.

Things were bad now. Although the Saintess was nominally in charge of Glorious City and the surrounding areas, Martha

had basically taken over everything in the past year.

The original Saintess had been too naive and trusted Martha too much, and now she couldn’t even command the

other nuns.

“Martha… I’m okay.”

Luo Li pretended to be a little weak. The demon army was surrounding Glorious City—there was no way she could

leave the city now. That would be suicide!

And from the memories she’d gained, she knew: Martha wasn’t just a nun!

Traitor. Spy. Collaborator. Double agent!

Call her whatever you want—she was that kind of person.

Luo Li clearly remembered that when she cleared Chapter 1, “Saintess of Glory,” Martha was the traitor!

If it hadn’t been for Martha’s persuasion, the original Glorious Saintess would never have left the city. It was because of

Martha that the demon army caught their first living Saintess!

And it was also Martha who used the Saintess’s status and influence to publicly humiliate her at the city gates—causing

the complete collapse of Glorious City.

She couldn’t act rashly!

Luo Li warned herself.

She covered her eyes with one hand to hide her expression from Martha, all while carefully calculating.

Martha had already been turned into a demon. The only reason she hadn’t been exposed yet was because her

nun’s robe hid her demonic aura.

Luo Li glanced at her status and felt a wave of frustration.

Summary:
Congratulations, player. You are a low-power weakling… but full of potential.

Even though she already knew the original Saintess was weak, seeing these stats firsthand was still discouraging.

So weak!!

Luo Li slapped her forehead.

No wonder she couldn’t remember the rest of the game. She died mid-playthrough at her computer!

Thinking about how her corpse was probably discovered with explicit 18+ scenes on the screen…

She could imagine the weird expression the police must’ve had when they found her body.

She lifted a pale hand to cover half her face.

A memory too embarrassing to face.

So freaking shameful!!

Honestly, it might be better to die. If she hadn’t already, she’d probably kill herself just from the embarrassment.

Dying while playing an 18+ game… what a horrifying social death.

Luo Li could almost see the weird, knowing smirks on the police officers’ faces:

“You know, I know, we all know…”

Forget it. Since she was here, she had to accept it. She didn’t know how she got here, but the most important thing was—

how to survive.

She didn’t care how she came.

She only cared how she would die!

Just thinking about falling into the demon army’s hands and being violated in every shameful way made her scalp tingle

and heart sink.

No. I can’t leave Glorious City.

Without her knight, she was just a fragile weakling.

She had to think of a way to get rid of Martha.

Dozens of thoughts rushed through her head, but if Martha noticed anything suspicious and acted violently, her Level 1

self wouldn’t stand a chance.

“Martha, you came.”

“Your Highness, hurry! If the demons break in, it’ll be too late!”

While speaking, the personal nun Martha showed no regard for status and directly grabbed Luo Li’s wrist.

Luo Li instinctively wanted to resist, but Martha’s strength was shockingly strong. She couldn’t control her body and was

dragged forward.

Martha took control immediately and barked orders at the other nuns:

“Bring only the essentials! We don’t need the mirror!”

She didn’t give Luo Li any chance to resist and dragged her along.

Watching Martha’s back, Luo Li knew she couldn’t fight back now. They were too close. If Martha suddenly attacked,

she’d kill her instantly.

So, she gave in and walked with her.

Since resistance now was impossible, she’d find a chance after leaving.

While thinking this, Luo Li was already being pulled out of the temple.

What she saw outside was a massive carriage pulled by eight white horses—four in front, four in back. The carriage

itself was about twenty square meters in size, like a moving house.

This was the Holy Carriage, remembered from the original owner’s memories. Only the Saintess was allowed to ride in

it.

Luo Li was soon forced onto the carriage, sitting inside. Martha entered too and sat beside her.

Luo Li was extremely nervous but kept a calm expression. With this traitor right beside her, even the slightest odd

behavior could get her killed.

But if the carriage actually left the city, she’d be doomed anyway.

Her heart was racing. Just then, the carriage suddenly stopped, the horses neighing loudly.

From a distance came the sound of metal clashing—clink, clank—approaching steadily.

It sounded like armor, but lighter than Hilda’s. Less heavy, more crisp.

A man’s voice came from outside.

“By divine order, no one is allowed to leave the city—not even the Saintess!”

Nice one!!

Hearing the knight’s firm voice, Luo Li gave him a thumbs-up in her heart—and one for herself too.

Good thing she had told Hilda earlier. Hilda must’ve rushed to the west gate to deliver her command.

“How dare you! This is the Holy Carriage! The Saintess is inside! And you dare block our path?!”

Before Luo Li could say anything, a sharp, piercing voice rang out.

She didn’t even need to look to know—it was Martha, finally losing patience.

She was a demon spy, and as far as Luo Li knew, her mission this time was to abduct the Moon Saintessher!

Martha stepped out of the carriage and stood before the knight.

Through the curtain’s gap, Luo Li could see him:

Short golden hair, silver-white armor, a large cross-shaped sword at his hip. His eyes gleamed with sharpness.

But the knight didn’t back down from Martha’s threats.

“I’m sorry, Sister Martha. Guardian Knight Hilda personally gave the divine order just now: no one may leave the

city without that order. Unless the Saintess herself appears or Hilda confirms it—I cannot open the gate.

“Outrageous!!”

Martha was clearly furious. She had controlled 80% of Glorious City’s power for a year. Who dared talk to her like this?

But against a knight loyal to the Saintess, there was nothing she could do. Gritting her teeth, she pointed at the Holy

Carriage.

“I’m the Saintess’s personal nun—Martha! The Saintess is inside the carriage! If you don’t believe me, check for

yourself!!”

The knight, Adam Dresus, hesitated. After all, Hilda had just declared the divine order. This sudden change made no

sense.

However, the Holy Carriage was only supposed to move when the Saintess was inside.

To be safe, Adam straightened his collar, flicked his golden bangs, checked himself, and when satisfied, stepped forward

and knelt on one knee before the carriage.

“Brave Knight of Glorious City—Adam Dresus, requests audience with the Saintess.”

Silence.

Adam was just about to reach for the curtain—when suddenly, a soft, familiar voice came from within:

So faint that only Adam, a skilled knight, could even hear it.

“Knight Adam, don’t make a sound. Help me capture Sister Martha… she’s a demon spy.”
