Chapter 2: is OK

Dull.

Painful.

Dizzy.

These were Lin Yu’s most direct sensations.

His thoughts were like a puddle of glue spilled on the floor—murky and thick.

Only the face of a woman was seared into his non-existent retina, stained with black and red, slowly dripping down and soaking that pale face.

Meaningless, maddening whispers echoed in his ears, churning the fragile nerves of his brain, a feeling of immense torture.

‘Death, am I dead?’

‘But, why can a dead person still feel pain?’

‘Or have I also turned into one of those monsters from the classroom?’

Fear, unwillingness, anger—a mix of complex emotions surged in his heart.

‘Open my eyes, open my eyes!’

If his mouth could still move, he would definitely curse that woman who looked like the culprit a couple more times.

He, Lin Yu, had been strong all his life.

The chaotic thoughts slightly dispelled some of the fear of the unknown.

While continuing to curse inwardly, he tried to feel his body.

‘It seems… it seems I can open my eyes?’

Lin Yu painstakingly lifted his eyelids.

Through the half-lidded slits, what he glimpsed was boundless darkness.

The fear of the unknown solidified into tangible panic, hammering violently against his heart.

Thump, thump, thump.

‘Is this… the world after death?’

‘Hell?’

‘No, I’m not under their jurisdiction, so it should be the Yellow Springs Road?’

Lin Yu had a habit of making a quip or two in his mind when he was nervous; it was a way of distracting himself.

He turned his head.

Although it was pitch black all around, Lin Yu could still sense, through basic instinct, that one of his hands was laid flat there.

‘I was chopped into who knows how many pieces.’

‘Even a Lego master would need ten days to half a month to put me back together.’

‘So, what’s the situation now?’

Lin Yu tried to lift his arm but couldn’t muster an ounce of strength.

He was more delicate and weak than a newborn baby, not even having the energy to cry.

‘Damn, did I wake up as Sister Lin?¹’

[TL Note: Sister Lin- A reference to Lin Daiyu, the famously frail and sentimental female protagonist from the classic Chinese novel Dream of the Red Chamber. The joke is that he has become as weak and delicate as she was.]

Lin Yu let out a breath, deciding to just stay like this for a while and try again after recovering some strength.

During this time, many thoughts flashed through Lin Yu’s mind, mostly about how to deal with that woman if he ran into her again after getting up.

The darkness stretched time to an extraordinary length.

He didn’t know how long had passed; it could have been ten minutes, or perhaps half an hour.

Feeling that he was ready, Lin Yu held his breath, pushed off with his shoulder blades, and finally managed to lift his arm.

“Huu…”

He slowly exhaled a breath, propped himself up on his arm to turn sideways, then adjusted his position again.

Like a giant insect, he writhed until his back was straight.

“Ha… Ha…”

Such a simple action had exhausted all of Lin Yu’s stamina.

However, he was overjoyed.

No matter what, he was still alive, and his body was intact!

As the joy of surviving the ordeal gradually faded, Lin Yu, having regained control of his body, began to observe his surroundings.

This space was very dark, without a single source of light.

But it probably wasn’t in the wilderness or some bizarre dimension.

The reason being…

He put his hand down and pressed on the surface beside him.

It was a soft touch, even more comfortable than the bed he usually slept on.

His hand naturally moved upwards, feeling a delicate, fluffy texture of fabric.

Someone had even tucked him in with a blanket.

After experiencing “death,” a sensation like this was as strange as it could get.

Lin Yu even began to suspect that everything he had just experienced was nothing but a preposterous nightmare, and now, he had simply woken up, lying in his own soft, big bed.

But, quite obviously, his room wouldn’t lack even a single open window.

What happened before was not a dream, and neither was this.

His mood sank slightly, but this didn’t stop Lin Yu’s hands.

He threw off the blanket covering him, then raised his hand and first touched his face.

‘Good, these are the eyes.’

‘Mm, this is the nose.’

‘Okay, the mouth is fine too.’

‘But, why is my hair so long, and my face feels strangely small?’

That sense of dissonance surged in his heart again.

Lin Yu suppressed the unease.

The urgent task was to check if his body was missing anything.

As for other issues, he would consider them later.

He deliberately felt his own neck.

The image of the female classmate with the “pretzel” neck had left a considerable psychological scar on him.

‘Neck, no problem.’

Lin Yu breathed a sigh of relief.

He then patted his shoulders and moved his arms.

He had recovered quite a bit of strength since the beginning, so such movements were no longer difficult.

Everything was heading in a good direction.

‘O-f*cking-K, arms and shoulders are fine too.’

‘Chest is fine too, very firm.’

‘Huh?’

‘Chest, firm???’

‘???’

‘Wait, did they make a mistake when putting me back together?’

‘Did they install something extra?’

Lin Yu lowered his head, staring blankly downwards.

It was pitch black; he couldn’t see a thing.

He swallowed.

Although he had regained his strength, his raised hands were still trembling slightly.

‘I’ll sup…’

‘For f*ck’s sake, I can actually support them!’

‘Calm, calm down.’

‘I work out regularly.’

‘It’s normal for a guy who loves fitness to have more developed pectoral muscles, right?’

It was only then that Lin Yu noticed he was wearing the kind of clothing with a very high collar.

Only a tiny patch of skin below his neck was exposed; even his collarbones were tightly covered.

“Huu.”

Lin Yu exhaled again.

With a resolve no less than when he had picked up the chair to smash at the eyeless woman, he raised his hand as if facing death and reached for his collar.

“…”

‘Why is the collar decorated with lace!’

He gritted his teeth.

His left hand tugged at the lace-trimmed collar while his right hand slid right in, flat against his collarbone.

‘It’s soft…’

‘Let’s try giving it a squeeze…’

“Hiss!”

‘So painful!!!’

‘Holy sh*t, this thing is really growing on me?!’

A huge shock hit Lin Yu, making him feel a sense of unreal dizziness.

He came back to his senses, gritted his teeth, and steeled his heart.

He tossed aside the bedding piled on his legs and reached his hand down.

Tapping here, feeling there…

He had been O-f*cking-K just a moment ago.

Now, all that was left was OK.

‘So we’re really following the principle of equivalent exchange.’

‘If something is added, something else has to be taken away, right!’

‘F*CK!!!’

The memory of death, the unfamiliar room, a woman’s body—with these three things combined, a guess had already formed in Lin Yu’s mind.

He had transmigrated, and he had transmigrated crookedly!

Lin Yu couldn’t quite describe his current mood.

It was a mix of flavors.

After a moment of silence, she raised a hand and rubbed her temple.

Putting aside whether she could accept the fact of becoming a girl, if this was transmigration, what about the original owner’s memories?

She didn’t even know “her own” name.

If she met someone who knew her, wouldn’t she be exposed immediately?

‘Don’t tell me I have to pretend to have amnesia?’

‘And what happened to my original world?’

‘Why did such a bizarre change happen in the classroom?’

‘Who was that woman?’

‘If the strangeness spread from the school, would my family be affected?’

Lin Yu’s heart slowly sank.
