Chapter 2: Saintess and Her Extraordinary System

“Of course, this is my fault.”

Meng Linna held the lavender, sighing endlessly.

She genuinely wanted to reconcile with Na Naya.

But such things couldn’t be achieved through her wishful thinking alone.

If she were Na Naya, she definitely wouldn’t choose to make peace.

Right now, Meng Linna’s situation was far from ideal.

The severance money her father gave her was stolen by some fox that came out of nowhere.

She’d also been bitten by a vampire.

If she didn’t get treatment within a year, she’d undoubtedly turn into a vampire.

To avoid becoming a vampire, she needed money—lots of it.

Despite being reborn, Meng Linna’s strength wasn’t impressive.

With just her and Peggy forming a weak team, earning that money would be nearly impossible.

Na Naya was probably a C-rank warrior, right?

If she could join the team, maybe…

Meng Linna had to admit, she still held a sliver of hope.

After all, Na Naya had just passed up a chance to ruin her life, hadn’t she?

Meng Linna tightened her grip on the bouquet.

She followed Na Naya’s figure.

She wanted to rush up and talk properly.

But she could never muster the courage.

As a result, she trailed behind like a creepy stalker for half the day.

Finally, they ended up in a sparsely populated alley.

“Strange, why would Na Naya come to a place like this?”

The narrow alley made Meng Linna instinctively uneasy.

If someone intended harm, they could easily set an ambush here and catch her off guard.

Just as Meng Linna hesitated, wondering if Na Naya was deliberately luring her, Na Naya suddenly called out softly:

“Come out!”

‘Oh no!’

Meng Linna’s heart sank.

She hadn’t expected Na Naya to notice her tailing.

It seemed her actions had been too much.

But Meng Linna wasn’t ready to give up.

She crouched behind a pile of trash bins in the alley, barely hiding.

“I said, come out! What’s wrong with you today?”

Na Naya’s voice grew irritable.

Meng Linna’s heart tightened.

If she didn’t come out now, Na Naya would drag her out mercilessly and beat her senseless, right?

Just as Meng Linna was about to stand up from behind the bins, Na Naya spoke again:

“Finally responding. Your lousy system is way too outdated, isn’t it?”

‘Oh, it’s a system. I thought she meant me…’

‘Wait, system?’

In her past life, Meng Linna was an official regional bishop.

Though she had some authority, she loved slacking off at work.

She’d read plenty of adventure novels written by adventurers.

While she’d read many system-based stories, seeing someone with an actual system still threw her off.

Weren’t systems the kind that went, “System, hypnotize that woman for me!” “Ohohohoho!” or something?

So, who would Na Naya use this power to take revenge on?

Who had offended her so badly?

‘Oh, this is tough to guess.’

Cold sweat ran down Meng Linna’s back.

She desperately wanted to turn and run.

But her legs were weak with fear, unable to move.

While Meng Linna struggled, Na Naya was oblivious, lost in her system’s world.

“Check my current points… Five hundred? Then exchange them for the Fire Giant Whip.”

Though terrified, curiosity drove Meng Linna to peek out.

She spied on Na Naya’s system interaction.

Na Naya gestured at the air.

Then a red whip appeared in her hand.

Despite the distance, Meng Linna instantly recognized the whip Na Naya had exchanged.

Though the Meng family was a powerhouse in the empire, as the duke’s youngest child, Meng Linna needed real achievements to become a regional bishop.

In her past life, with her father’s elite troops, she defeated a cult worshiping giants.

The Fire Giant Whip was a trophy from that mission.

Though it was a spoil from clearing out heretics, Meng Linna didn’t hand it over to the church.

Instead, she gifted it to an inquisitor from the Tribunal.

As for who that was…

Meng Linna slapped her forehead, recalling a familiar name.

“Na Naya?”

“Who’s there?”

Meng Linna’s quiet mutter was quickly caught by Na Naya.

She turned, swinging the whip.

A wall of fire erupted at the alley’s exit, blocking Meng Linna’s escape.

“D*mn it!”

Cursing her earlier self in her mind, Meng Linna curled up tighter.

As if that could hide her from Na Naya’s search.

“No more hiding. I know you’re there.”

Na Naya’s footsteps grew closer.

“If you don’t come out, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”

There was no hiding anymore.

Meng Linna knew she’d been caught.

She stepped out from cover with a sheepish laugh.

“Haha, Na Naya, what a coincidence. Didn’t expect to run into you here…”

Seeing Meng Linna, Na Naya’s face flashed with surprise, then relaxed.

But Meng Linna, overly nervous, gripped the lavender’s wrapping tightly.

The plastic crinkled loudly with a “crunch,” drawing Na Naya’s attention.

“Just a coincidence?”

Na Naya stepped forward, almost face-to-face with Meng Linna.

At one-meter-five, Na Naya had to look up at the taller Meng Linna.

Her eyes held emotions Meng Linna couldn’t decipher.

“Of course it’s a coincidence.”

Meng Linna couldn’t care less at this point.

She averted her gaze to avoid Na Naya’s eyes.

“I just happened to buy some flowers nearby. Then I accidentally ended up here. Totally a coincidence, haha…”

“Scumbag Sister is as bad at lying as ever.”

Na Naya circled behind Meng Linna.

Her left hand rested on Meng Linna’s shoulder.

“Every time you try to lie, you can’t look me in the eyes.”

“I just…”

Meng Linna tried to explain.

But a strange sensation appeared around her neck.

The whip, woven from the red hair of a fire giant, had silently wrapped around her neck.

If Na Naya wished, the whip could erupt in flames the next second.

“Scumbag Sister’s missing the point, isn’t she?”

Na Naya’s voice echoed in her ear.

Her breath tickled Meng Linna’s ear, making it itch.

“Now that Sister knows my secret, what should I do with you, Meng Sister?”
