Despite how utterly absurd it sounded, Qing Yu had no choice but to accept a certain truth—
He wasn’t dreaming; he had truly transmigrated to another world and become the…
Wife of a white-haired loli.
‘Damn it! Why isn’t this the hero-defeats-demon-king scenario I imagined!’
Lying on Aldoran’s lap, Qing Yu thought this to himself, eyes closed, blissfully enjoying Aldoran cleaning his ears.
“What’s wrong? Are you still fantasizing about becoming a hero and defeating a demon king?” Aldoran gently pressed Qing Yu’s head, her voice devoid of any warmth, utterly flat.
“Ah… that’s what I said…” Qing Yu responded languidly, utterly entranced by Aldoran’s ear cleaning. The gentle tickling sensation of the cotton swab inside his ear made his entire body tingle with a pleasant numbness. “After all… I finally transmigrated and everything…”
“Is that so? What a pity. Your purpose in transmigrating is simply to become my wife.”
“But… why? We’ve only just met, haven’t we?” Qing Yu asked, feeling it imperative to understand the full story before agreeing to be married by this loli, lest he be sold off and have to count the money for his own captors.
After all, he had inexplicably arrived in this world, and Aldoran had even claimed he was chosen by a gem to become her wife.
“Firstly, your summoning to this world was the will of the gem, not my choice. I have explained this many times. Because it is the will of the gem, regardless of whether it summoned you, a goblin, an orc, a monster, an earthworm, a lamia, or any other strange creature, or even an inanimate object, I would take them as my wife, and then I would do what I am doing for you now.” Aldoran narrated calmly, as if recounting something utterly detached from herself.
Qing Yu, however, did not share her detached perspective. If such a beautiful maiden were to marry a goblin or an orc, wouldn’t that be precisely like the plots he had seen in those lewd manga?!
“Please cease your lewd fantasies,” Aldoran said, tapping Qing Yu’s head. “Why do you think I put this collar on you? It’s to properly remind you of your status.”
‘But a collar isn’t necessary, is it?’
Qing Yu pouted.
“Honestly…” Aldoran sighed, no longer pursuing the unspeakable images in Qing Yu’s mind, but instead continued her previous explanation.
“In this world, no one can defy the Mark of Destiny, which is the gem on your collar.”
“The Mark of Destiny?” Qing Yu instinctively touched the large gem embedded in his collar.
“I have one of these too,” Aldoran said, extending her wrist towards Qing Yu. Qing Yu observed a finely crafted golden bracelet tightly clasped around Aldoran’s slender, fair arm. On the bracelet, a blue gem glowed faintly, and upon its surface, a pattern resembling a spear seemed to be carved.
“This is my Mark of Destiny,” Aldoran explained, ceasing her ear cleaning and beginning to stroke Qing Yu’s hair. “Mine is blue, signifying the Divine Sovereign’s Fate.”
“Divine Sovereign’s Fate?” Qing Yu’s mind became even more muddled. Did that mean Aldoran was some kind of deity?
“Precisely. In this world, there are twelve such gems in total, scattered across the land. Each one symbolizes a different destiny, which I will teach you about later. For now, you only need to know that my Mark of Destiny is the Divine Sovereign, and yours is the Divine Consort.” As Aldoran spoke, she produced a mirror from seemingly nowhere and held it before Qing Yu, allowing him to finally get a clear look at the gem set in his collar.
It was a polygonal gem radiating a golden luster, slowly rotating within an aura of golden light.
“Mm…” Qing Yu reached out and touched the gem. A warm current immediately surged through him, making him feel as if he were enveloped in a cozy blanket, utterly safe and at peace.
By the light, Qing Yu discerned the pattern engraved upon the golden gem: a pair of lovers embracing, pressed tightly together, kissing and holding each other. Above their heads hovered a winged infant with a tender face.
“This is—” Qing Yu looked at Aldoran, bewildered, hoping for an explanation.
Aldoran gently stroked Qing Yu’s head, her touch soft and delicate, much like caressing a kitten, a stark contrast to her typically cold demeanor. Noticing the confusion in Qing Yu’s eyes, Aldoran began to explain.
“This gem symbolizes marriage and family. It represents the authority bestowed upon you by the Mark: you can protect the family and preside over marriage.”
‘Eh?!’
“Is… is that all?” Qing Yu asked cautiously. Was this truly the extent of the power from one of the twelve gems Aldoran had mentioned?
It radiated golden light, rotated on its own, boasted such intricate and exquisite carvings, and was one of the twelve scattered gems in the world—yet it granted him only this ability?
‘Come on, why couldn’t a more powerful gem have chosen me? Couldn’t I have gotten the one symbolizing the Divine Sovereign?’
“Because in this world, women are the masters of power, the Marks invariably choose females, with the exception of special Marks like yours,” Aldoran stated. “Since I am the Divine Sovereign, there must naturally be a gem symbolizing the Divine Consort.”
“But—” Qing Yu suddenly realized that the gem on Aldoran’s wrist emitted an extremely faint glow, practically negligible compared to the radiance of his own gem. Moreover, Aldoran’s gem wasn’t rotating; it was merely set in the bracelet, appearing lifeless and utterly inert.
“Because my Mark has not yet been fully activated,” Aldoran explained. “As the Divine Sovereign’s Fate, the conditions for breaking the seal are naturally more stringent. As for you, the Divine Consort, you possess no special abilities; you simply need to fulfill your role as my wife. Therefore, your gem has no seal whatsoever.”
Though it sounded rather hurtful, Aldoran was undeniably correct. Qing Yu couldn’t help but feel his ability sounded more like that of a family dispute mediator.
“Then… what are the conditions to break your seal?”
“I don’t know.”
‘…’
“But what is the purpose of breaking the seal? You also said there’s no demon king or anything like that in this world, didn’t you?” Qing Yu asked again.
Aldoran shrugged. Though she found the question somewhat exasperating, she chose to answer this childish query nonetheless.
“All of this is the choice of the Mark of Destiny. We have no power to choose. My fate is to become the Divine Sovereign, so I must break the seal and ascend to the pinnacle of the Pantheon. Otherwise, the gem will compel me to break the seal in its own way.”
“Just as your destiny is to become the Divine Consort, I will ultimately obtain you, no matter what. Even if you were to marry someone else beforehand, the gem would eventually arrange for me to use various means to possess you, even if it meant forceful abduction, or transforming into various animals to…”
Qing Yu suddenly recalled a certain lecherous chief god from a mythology he had read in his previous world. If he had already had a girlfriend when the gem chose him, then Aldoran would, in all likelihood, treat him just like that lecherous chief god would…
Well, that guy was actually Zeus.
For some reason, Qing Yu found himself feeling a strange sense of anticipation.
Qing Yu felt as though he had somehow accepted the notion of being Aldoran’s wife.
After all, she was an unparalleled beauty. Qing Yu dared to say that on Earth, he wouldn’t find anyone more beautiful than Aldoran. If that were the case, becoming her wife might not be so bad. After all, if she truly was the future Divine Sovereign, wouldn’t he be able to live a life of leisure, constantly relying on her?
However, he still harbored some worries.
“What happens after you become the Divine Sovereign? What then?”
“What happens after that will be discussed when the time comes,” Aldoran said coldly. “But rest assured, I won’t abandon you and pursue other men, unlike the individual you’re imagining.”
“Oh, in that case, I’m relieved—”
“Right, one more thing,” Qing Yu remembered, recalling Aldoran mentioning a name called “Frigga” earlier. He was somewhat curious. “Um, who is Frigga?”
“What’s wrong? Are you already worried about falling out of favor before we’re even married? You should know, there’s no emotional foundation between us whatsoever.” Aldoran frowned, seemingly displeased.
“Eh…”
Seeing the slight disappointment in Qing Yu’s eyes, Aldoran couldn’t help but let a small, unconscious smile play upon her lips.
After all, Qing Yu was still her wife. Though they had never met before, feelings could certainly be cultivated over time.
Her earlier words were merely meant to elicit a look of disappointment from Qing Yu.
“Alright, alright, I was just teasing you,” Aldoran said, rubbing Qing Yu’s face, her voice still utterly flat.
“Frigga—”
“That’s you.”
‘Eh? What kind of development is this?! My name is Qing Yu!’
