On the battlefield, being able to use battle formation skills at the right moment—accurately and flawlessly—is what makes a commander invincible.
During a break in this battle, Luo Li had learned quite a few knight formation skills from Hilda.
Among them were several particularly practical ones:
Burst Charge — A skill that causes a sudden explosive charge in place. It envelops both the rider and their mount in battle
formation energy, allowing them to launch forward at high speed. It increases damage by 1%. It enables the knight unit to
respond quickly and is considered a mobility skill.
Cavalry Charge — This skill requires a certain amount of running distance and must be used while maintaining a specific
speed. When used by heavy cavalry on suitable terrain, it becomes an unstoppable force. With this world’s version of the
skill, speed increases by 20%, and damage is doubled—
In other words, every knight in the unit deals twice the damage!
Prayer — A formation skill exclusive to Holy Knights. Used before battle, it increases stamina, defense, and courage.
There were also other skills like Trampling Intimidation, Furious Assault, and so on.
In short, there weren’t many formation skills for heavy cavalry, but on the battlefield, they were a force that could sweep through everything. Even massive three-meter-tall demonized orcs would be torn apart effortlessly by heavy cavalry.
This was mainly because in this world, heavy cavalry often had level bonuses.
Especially the Templar Knights, who also gained title bonuses.
Standing at the front of the carriage, as the cavalry gradually slowed down, they began surrounding the carriage like stars encircling the moon, protecting it at the center.
Luo Li raised the Sword of Loyalty high above her head.
“O God! Grant us the strength to face sin!”
The next moment, all the Templar Knights raised their spears in unison and shouted as one:
“O God! Grant us strength!”
The moonlight suddenly became extraordinarily bright. The silver light that poured down onto the earth, as if guided by
some mystical power, enveloped the knights. Even Luo Li’s carriage, being at the center of the formation, received the full
effect of the Prayer skill.
On the bright silver armor of the knights, soft glowing light sparkled. Even Luo Li and the carriage beneath her were
bathed in this divine glow.
Suddenly, Luo Li felt her strength increase inexplicably.
Her breathing became deeper—that was because her stamina had been boosted!
“So magical…”
Most of her skills were ones she used on others, so this was the first time she had personally experienced the effects of a skill.
Just like she imagined—it truly was magical.
Her stamina had risen out of nowhere. Because her level was low and her attributes were poor, the change was even more noticeable to her.
She looked at the faint glow surrounding her body, then turned and looked behind her, where dust was rising.
At this moment, she realized—she was truly on the battlefield.
This was something she had never imagined would happen in her life.
She took a deep breath and looked into the distance.
The battle beneath the West City Wall had already ended.
A dark swarm of demonized orcs surged like a tide into the western part of the city. The sound of fighting and killing could be heard from within.
The light from the fires nearly lit up half of Glory City.
Tonight would undoubtedly leave a heavy mark in the history of Glory City—
Whether they won or lost!
Luo Li didn’t know why there was a battle outside the city walls, but the situation on the battlefield could change in an instant. The knights must have had their reasons.
Shouts and screams of battle echoed in her ears.
Her mind went blank.
This was her first time facing such a massive battlefield. On a battlefield without firearms, the brutality was beyond imagination.
For a moment, she found herself stunned—dazed by the intensity of the war.
“Your Highness! Your Highness! It’s time!”
Suddenly, Hilda’s voice called out next to her. The confusion in Luo Li’s eyes instantly vanished.
Yes. This was a battlefield.
But… it was her battlefield.
If they won, all would be well.
If they lost—everything would be over.
No matter what the result, she would witness it with her own eyes.
“Hilda… send the signal.”
Luo Li didn’t turn her head. Riding alongside the carriage, Hilda quickly took a signal tube from her chest, grabbed the string at the back, and yanked it hard!
A streak of fire shot into the sky and exploded in a brilliant burst of color.
At the same moment that the fireworks lit up the night sky, a soul-stirring roar came from within the city.
The demonized orcs that had been surging toward the city gate suddenly turned and fled, as if they had seen something
terrifying. But the rear ranks were still pushing forward, causing the orcs at the gate to be trampled and shoved into the
moat.
Then, a blood-covered female knight charged out of the West Gate ahead of everyone. Her short, vibrant pink hair was matted with black blood.
It was the Guardian Knight Yuna!
“Knights—Her Holiness the Saintess has arrived! For the Holy Church, charge with me!!”
“Charge——!!”
With Yuna’s cry, hundreds of silver-armored knights surged out of the West Gate like a torrent. The demonized orcs who didn’t escape in time were crushed under the force of the cavalry.
The entire demon army formation was ripped open!
Seeing this, Luo Li raised her sword and quietly activated the Light Sword skill. Although it was low-level, she didn’t need it to deal damage—she only needed it to be attention-grabbing.
The sword pointed toward the center ranks of the demon army—the most crucial target in the plan.
If they couldn’t break through the central camp in one go, everything they had planned tonight would fall apart.
If that happened, the demon army—once it recovered from the surprise—could easily crush their outnumbered knight forces.
Even now, Luo Li still had the chance to escape. If she ordered the cavalry to turn around, sacrificing Glory City as a distraction, she could run away safely.
She could avoid all danger.
But she didn’t.
The silver light enveloped the Sword of Loyalty, and perhaps because it was a sacred relic, the glow seemed to grant her even more strength.
Gazing at the demon army’s central camp, Luo Li emptied her mind of all distractions and pointed her sword forward.
Victory or defeat… it all comes down to this!
“Knights! With me… charge!!”
“Wherever Her Holiness the Saintess points her sword—that is where our hearts go! Charge!!”
