Chapter 25: Born to Die!

Yiluo looked at the Coco before her, feeling heartbroken.

Clearly, she had already become so cheerful when she left, but now she looked like a puppet with its strings cut.

Only after Yiluo saved her in time did a faint spark return to her eyes.

When Coco saw Yiluo, her heart was instantly filled with happiness and surprise, sweeping away her inner gloom for a moment.

But soon, it was replaced by worry, and she began pounding Yiluo’s shoulder with her tiny fists, crying as she scolded her.

“Why did you come back!”

“Why did you come back, Miss Yiluo!”

“They want to use me to catch you! I dragged Miss Yiluo down!”

Seeing Coco crying like pear blossoms in the rain, blaming herself so deeply, Yiluo rubbed her small head and gently said, “I know.”

Coco stared at Yiluo in disbelief.

“Then why did you still come for me! Hurry and leave!”

Yiluo shook her head.

“I rescued Coco and brought you back. I’m not giving you to others to bully.”

“So, I’m here to take you away.”

Hearing Yiluo’s words, Coco cried even harder.

Seeing her like this, Yiluo hugged her tightly, warming her chilled body with her own.

“Good girl, don’t cry.”

“So? After coming with me, you’ll be my maid, okay?”

In Yiluo’s arms, Coco nodded hard, answering through sobs.

“Mm! Mm! Mm! Mm…”

“From now on, I’ll be Miss Yiluo’s exclusive maid! No matter what, I’ll never leave Miss Yiluo again!”

“It’s a promise.”

Yiluo glanced at the disgusting viscount, who had no intention of fighting.

“Hold tight. I’m taking you away.”

“Mm.”

With Coco’s reply, Yiluo picked her up and leapt out of the window she had entered from, escaping without looking back.

The sky had darkened, but the courtyard of the viscount’s mansion was lit by multicolored lights—the glow of magic being charged.

Outside the mansion, hundreds of priests and thousands of knights had already surrounded the area, forming an inescapable net.

.

.

Time returned to the moment Yiluo and Coco separated.

After sending Coco away, Yiluo felt a bit down.

Having little interest in anything, she switched to two more inns for safety.

She changed her outfit, bought books she needed from a bookstore, returned, and began studying the geography and nations of the Star Continent.

If she wanted to quickly learn about the continent and improve her strength to find a way home, she believed she needed the best school available.

Attending school was the fastest way to gain knowledge and power, and the library was something she deeply longed to explore.

After confirming her goal through books, she finally fell asleep with worry for Coco lingering in her heart.

The next morning, Yiluo woke up early, changed her disguise again, and planned to visit the Adventurers’ Guild and mercenary groups to post a task, hoping to find the group that once captured Coco and learn the reason and details behind it.

She could not allow such a threat to remain.

However, before she could gather any information, many knights and priests rushed into the Guild.

Hiding herself, she secretly learned that Jack had apparently committed a grave mistake, and now the city’s soldiers and Church followers were hunting for him, though he hadn’t been caught yet.

Yiluo instantly sensed danger.

The Church must be after her.

Coco alone would not make them mobilize on such a large scale.

Just who was she?

Her exact identity wasn’t important anymore.

What mattered was that she now knew the Church considered her an enemy.

Yiluo stopped thinking and left immediately.

After scouting the city all afternoon, she discovered that all of Green City’s gates were closed.

Climbing a fifty-meter-high wall barehanded was near impossible.

Soldiers patrolled almost every road.

The viscount’s mansion outskirts looked normal, but observing from afar, she could tell—Church followers were hiding in every surrounding building.

The Church had set a massive trap for her.

Yiluo was confident she could hide for a long time, but she couldn’t guarantee they wouldn’t harm Coco to lure her out.

And as time passed, more high-level knights would arrive, making rescue even harder.

Did she… really have to save Coco?

Yiluo only acted when the odds of success were high.

But now, Green City was sealed, soldiers were everywhere, and the mansion was heavily ambushed.

There was an eighty-percent chance she would fail—and die.

Heaven, earth, timing, advantage—she had none of them.

Damn it!

Hiding in a large tree near the viscount’s mansion, Yiluo watched every movement inside with her sharp eyesight.

Something was wrong.

The mansion was wrong.

The viscount must have already received orders—he was cooperating with the Church.

Coco was in extreme danger.

If she didn’t rescue Coco, a demon without use would only meet one fate—death.

Tch!

Yiluo clicked her tongue, memories of Coco flooding her mind.

The first “person” she met after arriving in another world.

They warmed each other’s uneasy hearts along the journey.

Coco’s every expression, every smile—they were carved into her memory.

Then, Zou’er’s figure appeared beside Coco, happily holding her hand.

Afterward, Zou’er looked up at her and softly whispered,

“Dad, you know what you must do.”

Yiluo opened her eyes.

A flash of golden light passed through them, leaving only determination.

Under her cloak, the sword in her hand radiated warmth and familiarity.

“Damn it… I’ve been treating Coco like my own daughter!”

“And I’m still here calculating stupid success rates? Screw that!”

“Agent? I stopped being one long ago!”

“If we die, we die together! I already crossed worlds once—try sending me back again!”

“Damn!”
