The familiar sultry voice wrapped around Luoyao’s ears.

She thought she was dreaming.

For forty-five nights, she’d dreamed of that radiant face and magnetic voice.

But each time she woke, emptiness shattered the dream’s warmth.

Now, hearing that voice again, she feared it was still a dream.

But dreams didn’t carry such a sweet scent.

Nor the soft, warm embrace she felt.

In that moment, her tense body relaxed.

She set the comical kitchen knife on the table.

Eager to turn and hug the person behind her.

But Noah held her tightly from behind, pinning her in place.

Luoyao didn’t struggle.

She savored Noah’s embrace.

Neither spoke, quietly basking in their reunion after forty-five days.

Forty-five days was a blink for a near-immortal vampire.

Noah had lived through countless such spans in her centuries.

But these days apart from Luoyao were her hardest.

An empty house, an empty bedroom, an empty balcony.

Just a buzzing fridge with two rotting tomatoes keeping her company.

She realized she missed Luoyao a week after their parting.

That midnight, grief consumed the silver-haired vampire.

She lay on the castle roof, moonlight her cloak, cold wind her companion, longing for her human miss under the vast night sky.

A month and more—fast yet slow.

But now, she’d mustered the courage to see Luoyao.

That was enough.

After a long silence, Luoyao turned around.

She wanted to say something sweet.

But seeing Noah’s face, her brow furrowed with worry. “You look thinner. Not eating well?”

Noah’s pale face managed a tired smile. “Yeah, nothing tastes good without you.”

“Only tastes good when you’re teasing me, huh?” Luoyao pouted.

“Yup.”

You, you, you—shamelessly admitting it!

Here I was, all touched!

You’re just a ruthless capitalist vampire!

Even factory bosses know not to exploit the same worker endlessly.

Why do you, Noah, keep picking on me?

But despite her grumbling, hearing Noah admit she only teased Luoyao made her happy.

At least in this silver-haired vampire’s heart, Luoyao held a special place.

She knew this because the past month had been agonizing for her too.

No exaggeration—she’d lost her appetite and drive.

This time, she and Noah truly understood each other’s pain.

She looked up at Noah’s gaunt cheeks, eyes full of heartache.

“Eat something first,” Luoyao said, her tone almost commanding.

Noah had never seen her sweet, soft human miss so forceful.

Was it… because she cared?

The silver-haired vampire chuckled. “You’re so worried about me. Are you… actually in love with me?”

Love.

A topic they’d never faced head-on.

Once, as master and servant, they’d thrown out harsh words.

“Don’t fall for me. Humans who love vampires end up miserable.”

But now, reunited, their care for each other shone in their eyes.

Faced with Noah’s half-joking question, Luoyao dodged a direct answer, stammering, “I-I like tons of people. Like Ken Kaneki, Touka Kirishima, Raiden Shogun—I love them all.

Hmph, one more or less doesn’t matter!”

“I like you too.”

Those five sudden words silenced the tsundere human miss.

She froze on the spot.

Luoyao: “Okay, fine, I… I also li—”

Noah: “Love your stubborn mouth.”

Luoyao: ?

“Go starve, you jerk vampire!”

They laughed and bickered, tumbling onto the sofa.

Luoyao grabbed a cushion and tossed it at Noah.

She thought Noah’s skills would catch it easily.

But it smacked her square in the face.

Her balance faltered, nearly toppling off the sofa.

“Oh, sorry, sorry! I-I didn’t mean it, you okay, Noah?”

Luoyao rushed to grab Noah’s arm, apologizing profusely.

“Back when… when you first took me, I threw cups and pillows at you, and you caught them. I thought this time… anyway, I’m so sorry!”

Noah rubbed her nose, smiling, setting the cushion aside.

She took Luoyao’s hand gently. “Back then, what shape was I in? Now, what shape am I in? Can they compare? It’s fine, I don’t blame you. Relax.”

“You’re in bad shape… starved this past month, huh?”

Noah scratched her hair, grinning. “It’s alright.”

“Eat now. My body’s healed!”

Noah’s eyes widened.

What luck for a vampire who never killed to find a human miss begging to be fed on…

“Well, I won’t hold back then.”
