“Here, drink this.”

Meng Linna placed the potion on the table.

She couldn’t meet the female warrior’s eyes.

“Huh? Not using a divine spell?”

Clearly, drinking a potion wasn’t what the warrior expected.

“It’s to complement the spell. Drink it first, then I’ll decide which spell to use.”

If it worked, she’d claim success.

If not, she’d use a spell.

Meng Linna had it all planned.

Worst case, healing adventurers with spells was another way to earn.

“Alright.”

The warrior didn’t hesitate.

She downed the Marigold Potion in one gulp.

“Just wait a bit.”

A nosy mage raised their staff.

Projection magic displayed the warrior’s finger in the air.

Under everyone’s gaze, the broken finger healed rapidly.

Like time-accelerating magic.

It soon looked normal.

“Huh, for real? Healed without a spell?”

The warrior, stunned, flexed her finger.

“Looks good, huh. It’s my exclusive secret potion. Minor injuries? No problem.”

Meng Linna had been nervous when the mage projected.

She’d gripped her holy seal.

But now she was cool as a cucumber.

Her smug look said it was all expected.

“Exclusive secret potion? Seriously?”

“Is that warrior her hired trustee?”

Her looks earned Meng Linna some leniency.

But they also drew haters.

Yi Xing, who relied on her charm and flirty ties to maintain her team, despised Meng Linna.

Reason? Simple.

Since Meng Linna arrived, no one called Yi Xing the guild’s prettiest anymore.

Yi Xing barely hid her malice.

If she could push Meng Linna out, things would go back to normal.

She stepped forward, sneering.

“This healing’s not convincing. You’re not just hiring trustees to sell fake potions, are you?”

She crossed her arms, a pose to flaunt her chest.

It usually stole the spotlight.

Sadly, it didn’t work against Meng Linna.

No arm-crossing needed.

Meng Linna’s raw D-rank curves outshone Yi Xing.

Realizing she couldn’t compete, Yi Xing dropped her arms, shifting her stance.

“Trustee? I’m no trustee! I haven’t taken a job all day because of this fracture!”

Accused, the warrior stood, ready to confront Yi Xing.

Yi Xing smirked, dodging her grab.

“Just a little doubt, and you’re this mad? Hit a nerve? Staying jobless all day to play trustee? Tough gig.”

“Stop slandering me!”

The warrior’s loud voice didn’t help.

Her attitude screamed guilty.

Whispers spread among the crowd.

“Is she really a trustee?”

“Getting crushed by her girlfriend there? That’s too fake.”

“Yeah, what a lame excuse…”

The doubts grew too loud to ignore.

Meng Linna clicked her tongue inwardly.

But she kept a calm facade, facing Yi Xing.

“Trustee or not, doesn’t matter. As long as the potion works. If you doubt it, try it yourself.”

Her composed beauty swayed the crowd back.

She was pretty, after all.

“Yeah, as long as it works!”

“A trustee makes for a good show.”

“I couldn’t make up an excuse like that!”

The tide turned in her favor.

Yi Xing didn’t flinch.

“Easy to say. How do we know you’re not using us as test rats?”

In Yanan, the medical city, doctors did experiment on adventurers and civilians.

Yi Xing’s words tapped into distrust of potions.

“Yeah, why not use a spell?”

“I’ve never heard of a potion healing this fast.”

“Is she experimenting on us?”

The crowd flipped again.

“Fair to have doubts. But I’ve tested the potion myself. I’ll demonstrate.”

Meng Linna pulled out her dagger.

“What are you doing?”

Seeing the dagger, Yi Xing stepped back, fearing a lunge.

“You think I’m experimenting? I’ll cut myself with this dagger. Then drink the potion to show you.”

She slammed her left hand on the table.

Potion and dagger on either side.

Money’s hard to earn, crap’s hard to eat.

To sell these potions, she’d have to prove their effect herself.

She grabbed the dagger, heart uneasy.

“I’ll stab my left hand. Then drink the potion.”

Gasps filled the room.

The tavern heated up.

“Big talk. You really dare?”

Yi Xing didn’t believe Meng Linna would do it.

It’d hurt.

And it might scar.

A beauty like her wouldn’t risk that.

“Heh, watch.”

Meng Linna sneered.

She drove the dagger through her left palm, piercing clean through.

“You serious?”

Yi Xing stumbled back, falling.
