“I didn’t notice who it was.”
After Xiao Zhang left, Sloth’s voice came from Yu Ziyu’s pocket.
It slowly poked out its triangular snake head, watching its master sit on the sofa, flipping through the paper documents in his hand.
Anyone seeing this scene would be greatly surprised, because one could actually see a pensive expression on a snake’s face.
“Gluttony was too troublesome.”
The corridor was left in a complete mess, surprising even Lou Chen when he woke up.
Sloth had tried to confine the damage, but the harm caused still led to half of the corridor collapsing.
Hearing this, Yu Ziyu curled his finger and tapped its head with his prominent knuckle.
“Don’t talk.”
It was a warning.
The venomous snake flicked its forked tongue grudgingly and slithered back inside.
It had almost forgotten the condition Yu Ziyu had agreed to for letting it stay by his side—that was to play the role of a qualified pet.
His attitude towards animals was much friendlier than towards humans.
Given Sloth’s confidence in its favored position with Yu Ziyu, it didn’t directly give up because of the other’s cold words.
So, it tentatively nudged Yu Ziyu’s waist from inside the windbreaker pocket, using actions to express its confusion.
Only after a moment, when Yu Ziyu impatiently pinched its vital spot through the windbreaker pocket with two fingers, did it finally calm down.
“First of all, there’s no way I wouldn’t have noticed someone taking my picture.”
Yu Ziyu said as he tore off a corner of a page from the document with a ripping sound, crumpled it into a ball, and stuffed it into his other pocket.
He paused.
“This shows the other party wasn’t human.”
It was impossible for him not to notice being photographed secretly.
In fact, even if Yu Ziyu’s eyes were covered, he could still feel every movement around him.
Unless something non-human was stirring up trouble in the confusion—and its level couldn’t be too low.
Of course, its original form couldn’t have come to the scene itself.
So among the employees of the Supernatural Management Bureau, there must have been someone under its mental control, just a medium.
But even if Yu Ziyu found out who it was, he had no interest in settling the score.
The flesh and blood left behind when Gluttony was injured by Sloth had covered the elevator and corridor.
Anyone who had come into contact with even a trace of the abnormal substance would be involuntarily drawn closer, wanting to be further corrupted by a higher-level existence.
It was practically a sharp tool for identifying who the traitors were.
As for the answer…
It was that employee who walked toward the elevator with a dazed expression, and was knocked unconscious by Yu Ziyu before he could touch it.
Given that only one person in the room had shown abnormality, it was obvious who did it—no need to guess at all.
It was just which colleague he represented behind the scenes; Yu Ziyu temporarily had no definite idea, after all, too many guys like him had escaped.
And Yu Ziyu wasn’t anxious.
He could just ask them face to face the day after tomorrow about who it was.
If he, as Pride, issued an invitation, he believed no boss would have the guts to stand him up.
Upon seeing the signal, no matter what they were busy with, they would definitely put down their matters and obediently come to the appointment on time.
Even if they had ulterior motives, they would absolutely not dare show disrespect or dissatisfaction in front of Yu Ziyu.
So he fundamentally hadn’t revealed this matter to the monster side, after all, he didn’t need to consider whether they had schedule arrangements that day either.
Thoughtfulness was unnecessary.
After all, in the Land of Desire Amusement Park where he ruled, there had never been any room for bargaining.
“Tomorrow, you’ll do the interview for me.”
Yu Ziyu lifted his chin slightly and said.
“I’ve left the documents on the table.”
He had already torn off the pages with questions he didn’t want to answer directly.
Although Xiao Zhang said it was “discuss modifications with the editor-in-chief at Power magazine,” Yu Ziyu couldn’t be bothered with a tug-of-war with them.
Just deleting them directly was his style.
The snake made a hissing sound, as if expressing protest and confusion.
“You turn into my appearance.
I know your abilities.”
Just as easily as transforming from human form into a snake’s shape, and from a snake molding a human skeleton, imitating anyone had never been a difficult thing for Sloth.
Yu Ziyu reached his hand into his windbreaker pocket, fished out the slender little snake with his fingers, and threw it onto the coffee table.
His eyes glinted as he said, “Consider it practice.
The day after tomorrow, you’ll still need to continue playing the role of me.
After all, I can’t be in two places at once.”
Since he had already decided to appear using the identity of “Pride,” the savior shouldn’t disappear either.
If necessary, he hoped Sloth could use his appearance and be in the same room with him, thus completely dispelling those humans’ doubts.
Sloth hissed a few times, twisting its body on the coffee table as if wanting to say something.
Yu Ziyu poked it with his finger and said willfully, “Speak human language.”
Sloth: “…”
“They’ll see through the aura on your body.
In matters like this, they’re as sensitive as a dog’s nose.”
Yu Ziyu glanced at it, his voice completely flat: “They’ll all know that Sloth is a traitor.
Since we’re together, it’s perfectly normal for the savior to have Sloth’s aura on him.”
“No matter how you put it, I’ve always been your traitor.”
Sloth’s tone had little fluctuation, as if it were trying its best not to show helplessness and laziness.
“So, this is the real reason you let Gluttony go?”
Yu Ziyu’s power was far superior to theirs.
Coupled with the fact that Gluttony was already injured, it was absolutely impossible for him to leave the corridor of the Supernatural Management Bureau alive.
Furthermore, Sloth had noticed out of the corner of its eye that when Gluttony left, Yu Ziyu had remained leaning against the wall with his arms crossed throughout, watching the two of them, not moving a single step.
Of course, those unaware would think he was scared stiff by the entanglement of two boss-level beings.
But Sloth knew very well that Yu Ziyu just didn’t intervene and was watching coldly from the sidelines.
Although it wasn’t surprised that he let Gluttony go, it couldn’t figure out why.
Only now did it realize that Gluttony’s departure indeed had significance.
“Unwilling?”
Yu Ziyu asked.
This question was actually meaningless.
It sighed, accommodatingly twisted its body, tried its best to wrap around Yu Ziyu’s finger, and then reluctantly climbed inch by inch up his arm: “Of course not.
I’ll do whatever you ask me to do.”
After all, Sloth had never refused any of Yu Ziyu’s requests.
“It’ll be fun then.”
Yu Ziyu smiled, peeling Sloth off his arm and letting it slide to the floor, his tone casual.
Out of a love for pranks and a small bad habit of teasing others, although dissatisfied that this was part of the system’s mission, the entertainment brought by the former briefly outweighed the latter.
The various expressions on the other bosses’ faces, Lou Chen’s wary gaze like facing a great enemy… oh, and there might be some public opinion fermenting online.
After all, since that night, Yu Ziyu hadn’t kept up with how the players were doing.
So all of this became especially meaningful.
Sloth raised its body and nodded eagerly.
Yu Ziyu suddenly remembered something.
He narrowed his eyes suspiciously, looking at Sloth, which had rarely shed its lazy attitude and appeared especially excited.
He added, “But, you can’t tease Lou Chen—using my identity.”
Hearing this, Sloth slumped down disappointed.
Yu Ziyu lightly kicked its body with his boot as punishment.
“I have a script.”
He said, signaling for Sloth to listen carefully. “I’ll only say it once.”
“…”
Sloth raised its body, its vertical pupils locking onto the figure before it, knowing he wasn’t joking.
“I’ll bring ‘me‘ and Lou Chen to the gathering center.
I know the Supernatural Management Bureau people will intervene, so this isn’t difficult.”
Yu Ziyu played with the piece of paper he had torn off, a glint of interest in his eyes.
“Tie him up.
Then, in front of all the guests, deliver an inspiring speech…”
***
He crawled up from the ground with a pale face, stumbling down the corridor.
His hair was pulled into a mess by his hands.
Then, he slammed hard into a person walking towards him who was talking, eliciting a cry of surprise.
“Wang Chen, are you alright?”
Hearing this, he looked up and found Vice-Captain Xiao He supporting him.
At the same time, Xiao He was looking at him with concern.
And Xiao He’s partner, Xu He, stood straight beside him, sizing him up with a subtle gaze.
His slightly long hair made his expression appear somewhat gloomy.
“I’m fine, Vice-Captain.”
Wang Chen’s lips trembled slightly.
He forced his mouth into a reluctant smile, avoiding the scrutiny.
“I still feel a bit dizzy, not very comfortable.
I was just about to go to the restroom to wash my face with cold water.”
“…Oh.”
Xiao He showed an understanding expression and said, “Is it because the back of your head was injured earlier?
Then go quickly, be careful.
If you’re still uncomfortable later, you can ask me for leave, and I’ll explain it to Captain Lou Chen.”
Just while cleaning the elevator earlier, Wang Chen had suddenly walked towards the flesh and blood left by Gluttony with a dazed expression.
It startled Xiao He, and he didn’t have time to stop him.
If Yu Ziyu hadn’t made Wang Chen stay away, he would probably have touched it by now.
Under questioning, Wang Chen gave an explanation: he had been on a mission recently, so he still had the monster’s aura lingering on him, which was why he was so easily bewitched.
Others also confirmed his statement; he indeed hadn’t been in good shape lately.
Given that he was a new employee who had just joined not long ago, lacking experience was also normal.
So everyone didn’t blame him much, just told him to be more careful next time and not make this kind of mistake again.
Hearing Lou Chen’s name, Wang Chen’s complexion worsened, now almost could be described as pale.
“No need to tell the captain.
The captain wouldn’t like it.”
He even sounded a bit scared.
But strangely, this fear was completely irrational, as if he wasn’t actually afraid of Lou Chen.
Xiao He smiled, intending to lighten the mood, and said slyly, “Are you worried that because you showed you’re Teacher Yu’s fan before and rushed to give him a blanket, the captain has his eye on you?
Don’t worry, the captain isn’t that petty.”
“I really do like Teacher Yu very much,” Wang Chen said stiffly.
Hearing this, Xiao He looked at Xu He and snickered, “You weren’t here a few days ago.
I’ll explain about Teacher Yu to you later.
He really is the savior.
Just now, you didn’t see the look in the captain’s eyes…”
Xu He merely lifted his chin forward and interrupted his words expressionlessly with body language.
Xiao He was stunned and turned forward.
Then, he realized that Wang Chen was still leaning against the corridor wall, staring at them, and didn’t seem to intend to avoid this conversation.
He said somewhat surprised, “You can go now.
You don’t need to stay here.
Aren’t you uncomfortable?”
Wang Chen nodded and tried to squeeze past Xiao He.
Suddenly, Xu He grabbed his arm, forcing him to stop.
His gaze roamed over him.
Only when even Xiao He, standing nearby, cast a doubtful look did he slowly release his gripping hand and say flatly, “It’s nothing.
You can go.”
Wang Chen regained his freedom.
He tried to stand up straight and leave, aware of the two pairs of eyes watching him from behind.
However, once he slowly walked past the corridor and reached a corner out of sight, he immediately started running.
He almost crashed into the restroom, collapsed helplessly in front of the sink, slumped on the porcelain white handrail, and frantically clawed at his throat, dry heaving.
But nothing came out.
After a moment, Wang Chen propped himself up on the sink and looked up.
He stared at the haggard, pale version of himself in the mirror.
A look of resentment and anger showed in his eyes.
He viciously kicked the pipe under the sink.
It burst with a pop, immediately splashing out cold water, soaking his calves.
The restroom was completely silent.
However, Wang Chen seemed to hear a voice speaking in the air.
He paused, walked over to the toilet stalls, opened them one by one to confirm no one was there, then walked back to the door and locked it.
Only then did he return to the sink.
“I did what you told me to.
I put Teacher Yu’s photo on the internet.”
He immediately said fearfully, almost crying out.
“But Lou Chen, Captain Lou Chen must have already noticed something wrong with me.
And Xu He, that person in the corridor just now…”
Silence.
“No, I didn’t, I told you everything…”
Wang Chen begged for mercy.
“I wouldn’t dare have any improper thoughts about him.
I know, I know he’s yours.
But Captain Lou Chen, he asked me to see him later…”
His pleading voice abruptly stopped.
He was too scared, to the point where his body trembled.
And in the air, someone seemed to be speaking to him.
But then, suddenly, all his fear disappeared.
He touched the mirror with his finger.
Inside was a delicate young man, his own reflection.
But he seemed to see something irresistible, staring blankly at the mirror.
It and he clearly had the same face, yet it was a million times more perfect than him.
Its skin, its eyes, the contours of its face—every part was beautiful to the extreme, filled with an irresistible sexual allure.
“…This is truly unbelievable.”
His voice trembled as he took a deep breath.
The color of his pupils deepened due to desire, and he couldn’t help but let out a sensual, wet moan.
“How can there be an existence like you…”
The restroom was empty, only his voice eerily echoing.
He looked at the mirror obsessively, until he couldn’t control himself.
His body leaned closer and closer to the mirror, almost touching its surface, when suddenly a change occurred—an arm reached out from the mirror and directly yanked him inside!
Without even a single scream, he had already disappeared into the mirror, completely consumed.
After a moment.
A flush sounded, and the restroom door opened.
Wang Chen tidied his hair and walked out casually.
He took out his phone from his pocket and used the camera to check his face from a few angles.
He paused, clicked his tongue with impatient disgust.
“Suddenly wanting to meet,” it said, pouting, yet an intoxicated glint flashed in its eyes.
“How… willful.”
