“So you’re saying this heals wounds?”
Ignoring Miao Miao Niya’s opinion, Na Naya opened the potion and tasted it with her finger.
“Hmm, not church holy water.”
Seeing Na Naya casually sample her potion, Miao Miao Niya nearly hissed.
“Hey, I paid for that!”
“Just curious. It’s just money.”
Na Naya pocketed the bottle, placing a fully clipped silver coin on the desk.
She hated Miao Miao Niya’s clipped coins.
Perfect chance to offload one.
Miao Miao Niya stared at the coin with her scissors, sighed, and put both away.
“Of course, go ahead.”
Na Naya took the potion and walked off.
She’d planned to investigate strong B-rank adventurers.
But this potion sparked an idea.
***
“Huh? Me? For real?”
“Yep.”
The female warrior Meng Linna healed nodded.
“Since that day, our old teammate won’t join us. She thinks we’re perverts.”
Crushing a finger with just lower body strength?
Calling it perverted wasn’t wrong.
Meng Linna thought it but didn’t say it.
“So, because I asked how you got hurt, your team broke up?”
Recapping the situation, her head throbbed.
Seeing her distress, the warrior clarified.
“No, no, I’m not blaming you. Teacher Big Dream fixed my fracture.”
“Teacher Big Dream?”
Meng Linna wiped her sweat.
“What’s that nickname? So you’re inviting me to join your adventurer team?”
“Yep.”
The warrior nodded.
“A newly cleared ruin popped up. It’s got good-paying jobs. I thought Teacher Big Dream could join and make money.”
No issue there.
Thanks to Meng Linna beating the Water Spirit, the guild was tackling the ruin.
Its jobs paid well.
“I’ll think about it.”
Her gaze swept over the two.
“Tell me about your team’s setup.”
The warrior nodded.
“It’s just me and Kelly. I’m a frontline tank shield-bearer. Kelly’s a damage-dealing two-handed swordswoman. We need a ranged backliner. You’re a faith warrior, right? Buff support or spell-casting inquisitor, we’re open to either.”
Meng Linna glanced at Kelly.
Both were tall.
One with a massive shield, the other a two-meter greatsword.
Oddly, they had a couple vibe.
It was awkward to ask now, but she had to.
“Bit rude to ask late, but what’s your name?”
“Haha, my bad.”
The warrior laughed brightly.
“I’m Stone Fang, guild-certified C-rank.”
“My girlfriend Kelly is too.”
Shield’s Stone Fang, sword’s Kelly…
Meng Linna repeated mentally.
“So you’re a C-rank team.”
“We fit role-wise, but I’m only D-rank.”
Cross-rank teams were common.
But they could hamper coordination and strength.
“No problem. It’s a temp team for ruin jobs.”
Stone Fang smiled.
“Long-term’s fine too…”
“Hmm…”
Meng Linna pondered.
Her life was oddly stable. Brew potions, sell at the stall.
She could live without adventuring. But potion sales had plateaued.
She’d gotten efficient, brewing enough in two to three hours nightly.
She’d hit a bottleneck.
Sales were steady but down from the start.
Now, twenty to thirty bottles daily.
Unless a new dungeon or ruin popped up.
Joining them wasn’t a bad idea.
“Just so you know, I need to sell daily. I can only do daytime jobs.”
Stone Fang beamed.
“So you’ll join?”
“Not impossible.”
Meng Linna nodded slightly.
“I don’t have a team lately.”
“It’s settled! We meet here tomorrow!”
***
“Didn’t expect to actually agree.”
Back in her dorm, Meng Linna flopped onto her bed.
She stared at the ceiling, muttering.
“She’s my fan, right? Letting a D-rank like me join?”
Stone Fang’s eager gaze stressed her out.
“Since I agreed, gotta prepare. Can’t mess up.”
First, the weapon issue.
Her holy seal broke saving Na Naya.
She got a replacement from Miao Miao Niya.
But it was worse than her old stall-bought one.
Its casting power was too low.
“Get a new one. Even the same stall model’s better.”
But where to buy?
Yanan, the medical city, wasn’t church-friendly.
Holy seals, cleric catalysts, were rare.
You could count Yanan’s seal users on one hand.
“Guess I’ll try the black market.”
After Na Naya took her there once, she wasn’t as scared.
