Chapter 3: Fearless of Frost

Once she calmed down, Yiluo began thinking about the cause of her death in her previous life—

Who exactly targeted her?

Lin Hai?

No.

Yiluo knew he would never do something so suicidal.

If he did, the organization would secretly execute him.

Besides, they held no deep hatred.

At most, Lin Hai was just unwilling to always be second place.

Enemies?

Very unlikely.

Every mission she took used a different identity, and disguise was one of her greatest strengths.

Combined with countless support personnel from the organization, even after seventeen years as an agent and assassinating countless important figures…

She could confidently say—
No enemy could ever find her.

So that means…

Was it the organization itself…

The thought brought not anger, but helplessness.

She had taken part in too many top-secret missions.

Seen too many classified documents.

Of course…

They wouldn’t simply let her walk away.

If Yiluo had another chance, would she still join the organization and become an agent?

Without a doubt—yes.

She was an orphan, surviving by begging and stealing.

At a young age, she was taken into the organization and underwent years of relentless training.

By thirteen, she became an official operative with top-tier results.

Without the organization, she would’ve died—starved or beaten.

If anyone was to blame, it was herself for being too talented.

Talented enough that the organization couldn’t let her retire.

Escape?

People living in the light could never imagine how terrifying a worldwide intelligence network truly was.

No matter how strong an individual was, they could never survive once placed on an assassination list.

Through the years, she had played all kinds of roles—poor or wealthy.

In terms of material things, she had no regrets.

But… Qianqian and Zou’er…

Sorrow filled her chest.

Her eyes grew wet, tears dripping down uncontrollably.

In a place like this, at a time like this—
Crying wasn’t shameful, right?

The sword beside her seemed to sense her emotions, glowing faintly and warming her.

“…Thank you…”

Her new body was extremely sensitive.

Feeling the warmth, she looked at the sword while wiping her tears, gently stroking its blade.

As an agent, she had earned an enormous amount of money.

Every year she contacted different lawyers under different identities and signed agreements—

If she failed to check in every January, the nine-digit savings in various banks under her wife and daughter’s names would be handed over to them, with third-party supervision.

With that money…
They should live well.

“Anyway… they should already be used to life without me.”

Her voice trembled, but held stubborn strength.

Yiluo gripped the sword and stood, staring into the endless sea of bones.

“But Qianqian, Zou’er… I’m not giving up.”

“If I can come here, then there must be a way back!”

She almost shouted it, her voice echoing through the unknown darkness.

Suddenly—

She smiled, warm as spring wind.

Looking at the sword in her hand, she whispered, “Thank you.
Come on, I’ll take you out of this endless darkness.”

As an agent, her mental resilience was already beyond ordinary.

Never giving up in hopeless situations—

That stubbornness was what kept her alive countless times throughout seventeen years.

“If only I could personally destroy the organization.”

Yiluo muttered, then shook her head with a self-deprecating smile.

“Impossible.
Foolish thinking.
Better to stay realistic.”

Not far from her, she noticed a dried corpse.

Unlike the bones around it, this one still had flesh—
Completely dehydrated into a mummy.

For some reason, Yiluo instinctively felt hostility toward it.

“Looks like my sword came from her body.”

The sword in her hand flickered lightly, as if responding—surprising her.

Seems like she really arrived in a remarkable world.

Yiluo approached the corpse.

It was short, so she squatted down to observe carefully.

The body belonged to a small girl—about twelve years old.

Her dress, though tattered, was once luxurious.

Her status in life must have been high.

Yiluo placed a hand near her mouth, blinking as she tried to remember.

“In the dream… I think I saw this…”

Most parts of the dream were fuzzy now.

But judging from the sword, the pale-gold-haired girl must be the original owner of her current body.

Which meant this dried corpse—
Was the golden-haired loli.

“What a terrifying existence…
So the subconscious hostility came from here.”

Yiluo muttered, poking the corpse with the sword.

Clink—clink—

Only metallic sounds came.

She couldn’t pierce it.

Oh?
You’re pretty tough.

If she remembered correctly, the golden-haired loli could transform into countless bats, grow bat wings, and the red mist around her killed anything it touched.

Wasn’t this exactly the vampire type from movies and novels?

A blood clan?

And this entire sea of bones…
All created by her alone.

Yiluo felt she should do something—
For the original owner of this body.

After a few pointless pokes, she stood up, gripped the sword with both hands, and raised it overhead.

“Sword brother, I’m counting on you.”

The sword seemed to understand.

Golden light burst forth, a terrifying aura spilling out.

“Thank you.”

“Take this!”

She swung down with all her strength.

The sword wind swept outward, sending bones tumbling down the mound.

In an instant, the full-force sword strike, combined with dazzling holy light, struck the corpse’s neck.

CLANG!

The result was unexpected.

Sparks flew, and the holy sword only cut into the skin—
It didn’t sever the head.

“Sword brother, put in more effort!”

With her shout, the sword’s light grew stronger.

She gritted her teeth, focusing every ounce of strength into her wrists and pressed down hard.

Boom—
Boom—

With a final push, the corpse’s head finally came off.

But Yiluo’s force was too great—
The bone hill beneath her collapsed entirely, bones shattering everywhere.

“Hei—ha—hei—!”

With a few sharp cries, Yiluo moved nimbly, stepping on falling bones as she descended gracefully.

Not once did she fall or get cut, finally landing on a piece of silver armor.

This body’s strength, agility, dynamic vision, and instincts were far superior to her old body—

Completely incomparable.

The only problem was…

Yiluo looked down at her chest and sighed.

A certain bouncy part kept moving on its own,
Throwing off her balance slightly.

Totally a burden.

If reproduction wasn’t a concern, she honestly preferred not having them.

That was what Yiluo thought at this moment.

That was what she truly thought.

After processing everything, she had a better understanding of her body.

Seeing the collapsed bone hill in ruins, she placed the sword into the ground and clasped her hands before her chest.

“To the fallen warriors… and to the one who originally owned this body.”

“Even though I only gave your corpse a single strike…”

“Your vengeance is done.
May you rest peacefully now.”

The grudges here did not belong to her.

Let them dissolve and disappear.

Yiluo pulled the sword back out.

She spotted a small red bat-shaped hair tie and picked it up—it might be useful.

I have my own path to walk.

After all, someone far away is waiting for me.

But before she could leave—
She sensed a faint movement behind her.

Very faint—
But unmistakable.

For something to get this close before she sensed it—
That alone meant danger.

Yiluo didn’t underestimate it.

She instantly leapt back, turned—

And swung the sword hard at whatever was behind her!
