Chapter 3 : Hayang

When you can’t see, even taking a single step is scary.

If I follow the tactile paving with my cane, illegally parked shared kickboards often trip me.

If there is no audio signal at the crosswalk, I have to shout, “Is anyone there?” and sometimes I can’t cross the road for a long time.

Because the courage to put your body out among the cars driving fast doesn’t come easily.

The one who led me was Hayang.

!!!

The firm and unwavering sense of trust felt when holding the end of the lead line.

I always received help in the dark.

‘I can finally see Hayang properly.’

But someone entered Hayang’s body.

Naturally, my reaction couldn’t be good.

I raised the revolver and aimed the muzzle.

“Who are you.”

The sound of my heart beating filled my whole body.

[Good! Good! Crave me more!]

The power boiled, and I could feel Asadia rejoicing.

‘Ugh’

My head was already distant.

I used too many abilities.

Perhaps because I overdid it while drawing cards.

My eyes were stinging, and a headache was pounding my head as if someone was hammering.

But I had to bear all of this.

[I am the immortal hero blessed by the River Styx. Achilles.]

A voice that seems to speak directly to my head, penetrating deep into my consciousness.

‘Damn it, I can’t see.’

I need to check the information, the status window, but I can’t see it.

The letters of the status window that floated in front of my eyes gradually became blurry, and some even disappeared.

The only information I could barely read through the distant fog was a few pieces.

I couldn’t read what was written on the faint, fragmented letters until the end.

[Race: Labrador Retriever]

[Thought: More, I want to kill more.]

“Get out of Hayang’s body, you bastard!”

[That is impossible.]

“Why?!”

[There is only one way to extract the essence. Kill the host.]

I was momentarily breathless.

“Wh.. what?”

[I know you cherish this beast. Can you kill this beast yourself?]

I can’t decide

But, I couldn’t trust it, nor could I confirm it.

If only I could see the status window, everything would be clearly organized.

‘I can’t check properly because my eyes hurt.’

My fingertips trembled.

I aimed the muzzle, but could I do it?

This finger on the trigger probably won’t pull, no matter what happens.

[I thought so. Anyway, this beast is old and its lifespan is almost over. You already know that, don’t you?]

“……?”

Usually, guide dogs for the visually impaired retire after 7-10 years.

Because their joints weaken, their stamina can’t keep up, and it becomes difficult for them to assist the disabled.

Hayang’s age is 12 years.

An old age for a guide dog.

It’s natural to return to a normal home after retirement.

Because Hayang has devoted his whole life to me.

[But since I, who have received the blessing of the River Styx, have entered, this dog’s lifespan has been extended. It will become a spiritual beast and become healthier.]

“……So, you’re saying that the World Boss just saved Hayang?”

[That’s right. However, I am also inside.]

That disaster-like guy… What if he’s tricking me in a new way to mock humans? Who knows if the World Boss, who was slaughtering hunters just a moment ago, will play a trick?

‘I can’t see.’

My eyes were hot.

It wasn’t the sensation of seeing something, but the pain of my eyes themselves burning.

My eyes should be able to see the answer.

My limitations hold my ankles and don’t let go.

The familiar sight I’ve seen all my life.

Darkness.

Darkness came.

[Apartment]

[Status: Cerebral cortex (occipital lobe) and neural circuits associated with visual information cause depletion of HLsialien a cail neurotransmitters. Peripheral nerve response speed slows down, and autonomic nervous system imbalance causes systemic fatigue.]

[Cause: Nervous system overload due to abnormal sensory use]

[Result: J1182 Apply status ailment ‘Stun’ for sensory block]

[Stun Duration: Approximately 24 hours]

“…Ugh.”

My consciousness became distant.

My head, which had been burning hot, cooled down in an instant.

“Damn it. What is this…….”

I tried to mumble, but the words didn’t come out properly.

My head is heavy as a ton.

Eventually.

I couldn’t support my body and collapsed on the spot.

The sound of the dropped revolver hitting the floor echoed in the darkness.

The coldness of a warrior on the battlefield, the cold determination of a warrior who does not waver even in the face of death,

seemed to have receded slightly at this moment.

Achilles looked down at the girl.

Young.

Small.

Her body is slender like a dry branch, and her hands and feet are tiny.

A handful of life made of bones and flesh.

She looked so fragile that she would break with a single breath.

[This little kid…]
