Chapter 30: An Unfavorable Start

In Xia Xingli’s small villa, Xia Xingli carefully looked at the few thin sheets of paper in her hand, not saying a word for a long time.

Cicalis sat on the other side of the sofa, seeming a little uneasy as she constantly looked around the unfamiliar environment.

“Is this all the information you received?”

“Eh? Ah, yes… that’s right…”

Putting down the documents, Xia Xingli sighed.
Although she had said in a fit of pique that she wouldn’t do it, when the documents and her partner came before her, she still couldn’t bring herself to ignore this mission.

But at least now she had a partner and some information.
Although the partner didn’t seem very reliable, and the information was also quite brief.

“Only one address, and the approximate time period of these people’s gathering. No suspects, no description of the incident, not even the mission requirements are stated. This mission is really casual.”

“S-sorry…”

“It’s not your fault, why are you apologizing?”

“Sor… ah…”

Seeing Cicalis cover her mouth, Xia Xingli held her forehead and sighed helplessly.

With such a partner, Xia Xingli really couldn’t think of how she could provide any help…

“The location given in the documents is a tavern… why do I have a strange urge to complain… The time is two days later. The suspects are unknown but it is speculated that they are basically all ability users… are ability users so worthless now?”

Stuck with such a mission, even Xia Xingli, who had inherited Xia Lixing’s memories, felt it was a bit tricky.
After all, this “Point Transfer Incident” did not endanger the safety of ordinary people, and the criminals should not be vicious people.
Yet the documents said they were all ability users, which made it difficult for Xia Xingli to know where to start.

Fortunately, at least the mission didn’t require them to be captured alive, which meant that if necessary, she could directly eliminate the criminals of this incident.

“Cicalis, do you have any information on this tavern?”

Xia Xingli pointed to the picture of the target location, and Cicalis, who was being questioned, quickly pulled out two sheets of paper from somewhere.

“This is the design blueprint of the ‘Nightglow Tavern,’ and the other one is the tavern’s recent working hours and staff. In addition, there is a detailed map of the area around the tavern, which I don’t have with me right now…”

Xia Xingli stared blankly as Cicalis deftly placed the blueprints and documents in front of her.
The rather detailed blueprints made her let out a gasp of admiration.

‘Although she seems very unreliable usually, judging from the documents she organized herself, she must be a very capable ‘Guardian’ too.’

“Good job.”

Standing up and patting Cicalis on the head, without paying any more attention to the girl who instantly blushed, her heart pounding as she froze on the sofa, Xia Xingli picked up the two sheets of paper and looked at them carefully.

“Hmm… if this is just a gathering point, then we just need to stake it out. If their nest is nearby, then we might have to put in more effort… It’s better to look at the surrounding map before drawing a conclusion. Cicalis?”

“…My head was patted by a little sister younger than me… my head was patted by a little sister younger than me…”

After hearing what the dazed Cicalis sitting on the sofa was muttering, a cross-shaped vein couldn’t help but pop up on Xia Xingli’s forehead.
She went forward and gave her a karate chop.

“Oowah!”

Cicalis looked wronged, holding her head with both hands pitifully.
However, Xia Xingli didn’t care at all and instead leaned in with a “fierce” expression.

“Right now! Immediately! Bring me the map of the surrounding area!”

As if feeling that wasn’t enough, she clenched her small fist and waved it in front of her face, putting on what she thought was a very fierce expression.

Unfortunately, Cicalis was not frightened at all and instead blinked a few times.

“So cute…”

“…”

“Waaah, stop hitting my head! I was wrong!”

“Nightglow Tavern,” this was a small, ordinary tavern opened in the outer area.
Because it was some distance from the central area, business had always been lukewarm.

The tavern usually opened at three in the afternoon and stayed open until six the next morning.
The customers of the tavern were generally in their twenties or thirties, and sometimes “Guardians” would occasionally come to buy a couple of bottles of wine.

There were two security guards outside the tavern door, but in fact, they were just there to watch the door symbolically.
After all, in the central city, those who dared to deliberately cause trouble were probably only those who weren’t right in the head.

But today, these two security guards finally came in handy, although… the situation made them not know whether to laugh or cry.

“Are you going to let us in or not?”

Two young security guards blocked the door, looking helplessly at this… Lolita…

She was only waist-high, with a childish face, and looked like a teenage girl. Although this angry little girl looked cute, the security guard would not let her into this bar where only adults were allowed to enter.

“Little sister, stop making trouble. Minors are not allowed in the bar. Go home quickly.”

Xia Xingli stamped her feet in anger, and was at a loss for a moment. These two security guards were just ordinary people, and they were just doing their job. She couldn’t just break in, could she? Even if she didn’t consider anything else, that would definitely alert the enemy.

“Master Xia, Master Xia Xingli, we are not old enough to enter the tavern… or… or let’s leave first…”

Sicaris timidly tugged at the corner of Xia Xingli’s clothes. She seemed to be afraid of contact with strangers and hid completely behind Xia Xingli, shrinking her body as much as possible. I really don’t know how she ran to the “Light of Hope” alone.

Seeing that the two security guards had no intention of letting her go, Xia Xingli could only think of returning home. Anyway, tomorrow was the time given in the information, and she came here today just to “check out the place”. Now it seems that tomorrow’s action may have to be reconsidered.

But just as Xia Xingli was about to leave, a petite girl came over pushing a cart full of beer. The girl looked young and only half a head taller than Sicaris, but she seemed quite relaxed when pushing the cart.

The two security guards seemed to know the girl and greeted her.

“Yo Angel, the delivery is a little late today.”

“It’s a quarter past three. The pubs are open.”

“Oh sorry sorry, I overslept at noon.”

The girl called Angel smiled and answered in a carefree manner. Her voice was not as charming as her petite appearance, and her laughter sounded very hearty.

“Hurry up, the guests should be here after four o’clock.”

“I understand!”

The girl pushed the cart into the bar with all her strength. After she passed, the two security guards blocked the door again, with no intention of letting the stunned Xia Xingli in.

“That girl just now…?!”
