Chapter 30: I’ve Got an Announcement! (Bonus Update)

Chloe had never seriously considered going back.

Forget the fact that the transformation potion only lasted a week—more importantly, she was a loli now!

Sure, her current payment was worlds apart from what Larvia had initially promised to lure her in. But even so, being part of the royal maid corps, even as a probationary maid, was a dream job countless vampires would kill for!

The pay and perks were far better than what most vampires got.

But this opportunity didn’t just fall from the sky.

She’d become a loli to get it!

If she gave up such a cushy job, wouldn’t that mean becoming a loli was for nothing?

Besides, here she didn’t have to worry about all sorts of nonsense, and when she felt lonely, she could get cuddles… No! That doesn’t count!

In short, Chloe wasn’t about to give up this sweet gig easily.

“You, running to human territory?” Larvia scoffed. “How would you even get there? And even if you did, how would you hide your identity?”

“I knew you’d say that!”

Chloe, as if waiting for this, leapt off the bed and dashed to the door.

“Wait here a few minutes, and I’ll show you how!”

She returned quickly.

“Turn around! I guarantee, when you look back, you’ll be shocked!” Chloe said confidently.

“Hmph, let’s see what you’ve got.”

Larvia smirked dismissively and turned away.

Behind her, Chloe quickly licked the back of her hand.

She’d grabbed the transformation potion from her room and smeared a few drops on her hand.

Those drops were enough for a few minutes of transformation.

Sure, it’d cut a few minutes off her total transformation time, but in Chloe’s plan, the duration didn’t matter!

She just needed to transform to trick Larvia.

‘Larvia went through all that trouble to turn me into a loli and cuddles me every night—she definitely can’t bear to lose me!’

‘No matter what I ask, she’ll agree! How could she refuse?’

Transform!

Her pink tongue touched the potion, and Chloe, fighting the urge to gag, licked it down.

It was, after all, a mix of broccoli, bell pepper, bitter melon, and garlic juice—how could it not taste awful?

But thinking of the raise, where she could buy heaps of vanilla ice cream and chocolate brownies—a whole carriage full!—the bitter taste seemed like nothing!

Not just ice cream and brownies, but maple pancakes, macarons, tiramisu, mousse cake… and even enough to bring Silia some durian pastries!

This was paradise!

Chloe licked the potion, then nervously checked the full-length mirror.

Everything hinged on the potion working.

One, two, three…

‘Why isn’t it happening?’

Staring at her unchanged reflection, doubt crept in.

‘What? Is the recipe fake?’

Just then, her vision started rising.

She looked at the mirror—her height was increasing, her white hair turning black, her pointed ears becoming human, and her crimson eyes shifting to amber.

And her chest grew a tiny bit.

‘It worked!’

‘Steady, steady, all steady!’

“Larvia, Larvia! Look at me!”

Chloe rushed to Larvia’s side in two strides, nearly crashing into her as she turned, almost kissing her.

“Ahem!”

Clearing her throat, Chloe crossed her arms, subtly squeezing to make her chest look fuller.

“Look at me! I’ve got an announcement!”

She looked down at Larvia.

Larvia froze, her pupils trembling, clearly stunned by what she saw.

Chloe was very satisfied with her reaction.

Transformed, she was half a head taller than Larvia, and her chest was bigger—especially after a little squeeze.

‘Take that!’

‘Finally beat you, you wretched woman!’

“As I said, improve my payment! No negotiation! If you don’t, I’ll sneak back to human territory, and you’ll never see me again!”

“Y-You… how’d you turn human?!”

“No way I’m telling you! Point is, you see it—I can turn human! And let me tell you, human border checks scan souls. Me—Sword Saint Chloe—even as a vampire, my soul’s still the unyielding Sword Saint! Their devices won’t catch me!”

Chloe puffed out her chest proudly.

“And it’s bigger than yours!”

“What?! N-No way, that’s impossible!”

‘Perfect! Perfect!’

Seeing Larvia’s shock, Chloe reveled in it.

Larvia clearly didn’t know about the transformation potion.

So she wouldn’t know it only lasted a week!

‘Makes sense. The library’s huge—I searched forever to find the recipe. No way Larvia knows it!’

‘Steady, steady!’

“Of course, as the upright human Sword Saint, I won’t just blackmail you. I’ll offer help too.”

Chloe’s face flushed, her voice softening.

“You like cuddles, right? If you want, come to me anytime… like if you can’t sleep, don’t want to work in the morning, or are stressed…”

“Um, basically, since I’m getting your benefits, I’ll give something back! The cuddle service I mentioned? Anytime, no time limit, no duration limit… just find me when you want a hug…”

“I-I understand…”

Sweat beaded on Larvia’s forehead, her tone nervous.

“But raising your payment so much, so suddenly—it’s not a small matter. It needs lots of paperwork, approvals… You’d have to submit a ton of documents for me to process.”

“Oh, uh…”

‘Don’t get it.’

‘But she says, I do, right?’

“Alright. To show my sincerity, your benefits can start even before the payment’s approved.”
