Chapter 32-Part 2: The Girl in My Arms

In the afternoon, she took the little orange cat back home.

The little cat had been running freely in the fields, its body covered in glistening sweat and mottled mud spots.

Duan Yan decided to give the little orange cat a bath.

She knew that cats didn’t need frequent bathing and had consulted a veterinarian for advice.

After getting an affirmative answer, she led the little orange cat to the side of the bathtub in the bathroom.

Usually, Duan Yan preferred showering, enjoying the feeling of water cascading down from above, and had little interest in soaking in the bathtub.

Song Jin obediently squatted on the edge of the bathtub, blinking her curious eyes, confused by the preparations before her.

She thought, ‘The baths before didn’t seem this complicated. Why is there a little yellow duck prepared?’

Song Jin had originally thought Duan Yan was going to try something new, but it wasn’t until Duan Yan held her paw and gently led her into the bathtub that she realized something was wrong.

Duan Yan definitely wouldn’t be taking a bath with her.

So what was Duan Yan planning to do?

Duan Yan wasn’t planning on giving her a bath, was she!!!

‘Don’t let this kind of thing happen!’

Song Jin turned to run, but Duan Yan’s hand pressed down on her leg, and she couldn’t move.

“Baby, you have to be good. Otherwise, Mommy won’t let you sleep on the bed tonight.”

Duan Yan gently soothed the little cat while turning on the waterproof shower head.

Warm water slowly filled the tub, creating ripples on the surface.

Hearing the threat of “not allowed on the bed,” a flicker of hesitation crossed Song Jin’s eyes.

In that moment of hesitation, Duan Yan seized the opportunity and gently rinsed her fur with water.

Droplets of water slid down her fur, wetting the edge of the bathtub.

“Washing the stinky away to be fragrant.”

“Meow!” Song Jin puffed out her cheeks, glaring at Duan Yan in dissatisfaction.

She was clearly very fragrant.

Duan Yan seemed to sense the little cat’s displeasure.

She gently picked up its paw and held it to her nose to sniff.

“My little baby, you’ve always been fragrant.”

A faint blush appeared on Song Jin’s cheeks.

She was extremely shy.

This…

How could one just casually sniff someone’s feet? Even if she was a cat, that was impossible!

Duan Yan continued to carefully bathe the little cat, her movements gentle and methodical.

Having received guidance from the veterinarian, she knew that most kittens didn’t like baths and might scratch their owners.

But her little cat had never really hurt her, and this time was no exception.

Song Jin’s fluffy fur was matted together by the water, wet and revealing the cat’s soft and pink skin, making her look a little dazed and cute.

Duan Yan squeezed out some shower gel, gently lathered it in her hands, and then meticulously applied it to the little cat’s body, gently massaging every inch of its skin with her fingers.

Song Jin was very satisfied with Duan Yan’s meticulous care.

Her massage technique was becoming more and more exquisite.

Song Jin narrowed her eyes, enjoying the comfort.

Suddenly, Duan Yan’s hand accidentally slipped past her chin, touching the little orange cat’s sensitive area.

Song Jin’s body instantly stiffened.

She instinctively flashed her claws and let out a warning hiss.

“Hiss—”

Duan Yan immediately realized her mistake.

She gently stroked the cat’s head, soothing it with a gentle tone.

Her hand movements became lighter and faster.

She quickly rinsed the foam off the cat’s body, then wrapped it tightly in a blanket and carefully carried it back to the room.

Duan Yan used a blanket to gently wipe the water droplets from the cat’s body, then turned on the hairdryer, set it to a low breeze, and patiently dried the cat’s fur.

Song Jin had already endured the discomfort of the bath in the bathroom.

Now, facing the buzzing of the hairdryer, she persevered.

“Mewl~”

Duan Yan’s fingers gently combed through Song Jin’s soft fur.

Her warm palm was pressed against the little cat’s skin, transmitting warmth and a sense of security.

This touch gave Song Jin the illusion that they shared an intimacy like lovers.

Night fell, and all was quiet.

Song Jin comfortably curled up in Duan Yan’s arms, surrounded by the familiar scent, and gradually drifted off to sleep.

In her dream, Song Jin turned into a tiny kitten, lying on the ground, letting out weak cries for help, until she was picked up by a passing little girl.

The little girl looked to be in elementary school and bore a striking resemblance to Duan Yan, with a cute oval face and large, dark eyes.

She looked like an angel but actually had the personality of a devil, always loving to tease the kitten.

From time to time, she would tickle her nose and ears with wild grass; sometimes she would even place fresh radishes on her body, as if she were being used to sun-dry radishes.

It was both infuriating and amusing.

The Song Jin in the dream glared at the little girl, lifted her paw, and gave her a small lesson.

The little girl immediately started crying, attracting the elders of the house.

As a result, Song Jin was forbidden from eating dried fish snacks.

Seeing her pitifully hungry state, a sly look flashed in the little girl’s eyes.

She dangled a dried fish snack in front of her, trying to please her and make up.

Song Jin ate the dried fish snack without hesitation, then turned and walked away, leaving only the little girl stamping her feet angrily in place.

‘Hehe, you gave me the dried fish snack yourself. This cat lord never promised to be your friend.’

The little cat in the dream triumphantly raised its tail, but then, joy turned to sorrow.

Perhaps because it had caught a cold, the little cat was feverish all over, weak and powerless, able only to lie in bed.

The dream was abnormally real.

In a half-asleep, half-awake state, Song Jin felt a burning heat spreading through her body, a heat that was difficult to bear.

Drifting on the edge of dream and reality, in a hazy confusion, Song Jin rubbed against Duan Yan’s skin, a pained grunt escaping her throat.

In the mist of her dream, Duan Yan felt a slight itch, as if something were gently rubbing against her skin.

She drowsily thought it was her beloved cat playing restlessly in the night, so she subconsciously waved her hand, trying to drive the disturbance from her dream.

However, as she moved her arm slightly, the familiar fluffy touch suddenly disappeared, replaced by the contact of smooth, warm skin.

Duan Yan’s eyes snapped open.

The scene before her was unbelievable—in her arms, there was actually a person, and that person was restlessly rubbing all over.

She held her breath and carefully examined this uninvited guest.

The night was as dark as ink, but through the faint moonlight from outside the window, she could still clearly see the girl’s face.

The girl’s eyelashes were long and curly, like a finely painted fan, gently covering her eyelids and casting a soft shadow.

Her red lips were slightly parted, her breath carrying a slight warmth.

Her face was flushed, as if she were particularly fragile due to a fever.

The more she looked, the more familiar she seemed.

Wasn’t this Song Jin, the one who was always clamoring to “defeat” her?

Where was her little orange cat?
