After washing up, they teased and laughed some more.

Luoyao dragged a stool to the balcony.

She gazed eagerly at the sunset, waiting for it to dip below the horizon.

Her back looked so docile, like a little girl waiting for family to come home.

Vampires couldn’t go out in daylight.

The sun’s UV rays were deadly to them.

So their outdoor activities had to wait for evening.

Luoyao didn’t find it bothersome or unromantic.

On the contrary, she thought nighttime dates were dreamy.

Because her date was Noah.

As long as she was with her, any time, any activity, felt romantic.

Something to anticipate and cherish.

As the sun sank, Noah felt her body come alive.

A vampire’s instinct.

At night, metabolism and physical functions surged.

It ensured these nocturnal hunters could prey efficiently.

She changed into her usual sultry style.

A cropped tank top with a jacket, fitted jeans, and long boots.

Not overly revealing, but Noah’s stunning figure gave it a forbidden allure.

The last ray of sunlight vanished below the horizon.

Luoyao sprang up excitedly, dashing to the door.

“Noah, let’s go!”

She called toward the bedroom.

Noah replied, jogging over.

At the entrance, they helped each other into their shoes.

Then stepped out together.

“What’re we doing? Shopping?” Luoyao asked.

“You already went shopping with Suyue. I’m not doing the same thing as her.”

Luoyao laughed helplessly. “Still hung up on that, petty.”

“I’m petty, so what? No shopping!”

Big-hearted Noah was oddly stubborn about this.

But Luoyao wasn’t annoyed.

Seeing the usually aloof beauty get jealous over her felt… kinda nice?

“Then… let’s watch a movie~” Luoyao suggested.

“Fine, a movie it is.”

They chatted all the way to the cinema.

At the counter, they browsed upcoming showtimes.

Noah looked utterly lost.

Her last movie was in the 19th century, when films were new.

Back then, movies were silent and black-and-white.

Where were all these fancy theater setups and weird titles?

She’d watched a few, found them silly and boring, and stopped.

But when Luoyao suggested a movie, she agreed without hesitation.

The movie might be dull.

But the person watching it with her wasn’t.

“Let’s watch that one!” Luoyao pointed at a film starting in fifteen minutes.

Noah followed her finger.

The title: Vampire Night.

Tags: Horror, Thriller.

“A horror movie, awesome!” Luoyao said excitedly, looking at Noah. “Online reviews say it’s good. Pretty scary.”

Noah scoffed. “Scare who? A vampire like me watching vampires? We’re practically cousins. How could I get scared?”

“Really…?” Luoyao raised an eyebrow, skeptical.

Noah tilted her head confidently. “Of course. I’ve lived over three hundred years. What haven’t I seen?”

“Come on, let’s watch this one!”

Half an hour later.

“Aaah! Did he pull it out? Did he? Why’d he bite that girl so deep? Doesn’t he know how to eat? That’ll kill her! No, no, no, wait, tell me when he jumps out, I’m scared—aaah! So gross, that monster!”

Hard to imagine Noah, five-foot-eight, curled into a ball on the theater seat.

Legs tucked up, one arm around her knees, the other covering her eyes.

She peeked through her fingers at the screen.

This classic “want to look but too scared” pose was common among humans.

Surprising to see a vampire pull it off so well.

Luoyao sat beside her.

Compared to Noah’s incoherent panic, she was much calmer.

This level of horror didn’t faze her.

She could guess when vampires or creepy things would pop out.

At most, a director’s cheap jump-scare made her shiver slightly.

Otherwise, Luoyao watched as calmly as if it were a family documentary.

“It’s okay, he jumped out, no scary parts now,” she said. “You can lower your hand.”

“N-no way… Why’s that vampire so ugly?” Noah grumbled.

“Didn’t you call vampires your cousins? Now you’re calling him ugly.”

“Ugly vampires don’t get to claim me!” Noah snapped.

Luoyao laughed. “Next time, I’ll take you to Twilight. Those vampires are all gorgeous.”

“Sounds good!”

Luoyao’s distraction eased Noah’s fear.

She relaxed a bit.

Then, as if realizing something, she turned. “You said Twilight’s vampires are good-looking?”

Luoyao chewed popcorn, eyes on the screen, nodding.

“So… am I prettier, or are Twilight’s vampires prettier?”

Nod.

Noah froze, testing. “You’re saying they’re prettier than me?”

Nod.

“You’re just brushing me off! Your eyes are glued to the screen!”

Noah snatched Luoyao’s popcorn bucket, stuffing a handful in her mouth in frustration.

“Huh? What? Oh… who’s prettier? You, of course~”

Luoyao grinned. “You’re the prettiest vampire in the world!”

“Flattering me now? Too late!” Another resentful bite of popcorn.

Luoyao gently grabbed Noah’s wrist. “Huangwei said vampires shouldn’t eat too much human food besides tomatoes.”

“It messes with your digestion.”

“Hmph.”

“Don’t be mad. I’ll let you feast on me tonight, okay?”

“Two feasts.”

Luoyao laughed. “Fine, two feasts.”

Noah glanced at her, handing back the popcorn.

Good thing the theater was empty except for them.

They could flirt shamelessly.

After that, Noah adjusted quickly.

Scary scenes no longer spooked her.

In the last twenty minutes, she leaned on Luoyao’s shoulder and dozed off.

Movies still bored her.

But napping on Luoyao’s shoulder?

Worth the ticket price.

Leaving the theater, they planned to hit the supermarket for tomatoes.

But passing the cinema counter, Noah spotted someone familiar.

“Anna? …What’s she doing here?”
