“Mmm…”
Song Jin felt a wave of heat surge through her.
Her body felt as if it were tightly enveloped in hot air, and the coolness she had been snuggling against had suddenly vanished without a trace.
In a daze, Song Jin forced her eyes open, longing to once again embrace the “ice block” that had brought her coolness.
The moment her vision gradually cleared, her eyes met Duan Yan’s questioning and confused gaze.
Song Jin was puzzled.
What was going on?
Why was Duan Yan looking at her with such a gaze?
She looked down and saw a pair of lotus-root-white arms.
She was still wearing the light luxury dress from the film set.
Song Jin’s heart sank.
‘Oh no, I’ve been exposed! How could I turn back into human form at this critical moment!!!’
Duan Yan frowned tightly and questioned, “How did you end up in my room?”
Song Jin was extremely nervous inside.
She tried her best to suppress her panic, lowering her head to hide her fluster.
Her mind raced, trying to fabricate a reasonable explanation.
‘Confess?’
‘Absolutely not!’
‘If Duan Yan found out my initial intention was to steal her career secrets, she would probably never want to see me again.’
After a brief hesitation, she decisively chose to play dumb.
Song Jin looked up, her eyes as clear as spring water, her expression utterly innocent.
“Huh? I don’t know either. I woke up… and I was here.”
Her voice, deliberately processed, carried a hint of confusion, as if she were completely baffled by the situation before her.
Duan Yan was silent for a moment, seemingly trying to process this sudden development.
Finally, she spoke softly, her voice tinged with worry, “Where’s my cat?”
‘I am your cat,’ but Song Jin couldn’t let on that she knew.
Otherwise, she would be kicked out.
She could only continue to play dumb.
She mimicked Duan Yan’s frowning motion and pressed her fingers to her temples.
“My head is so dizzy…”
Duan Yan’s face was a mixture of conflict, confusion, and shock.
Unable to comprehend the situation before her, she sighed lightly.
“Never mind. You seem to have a fever. I’ll go get you a cooling patch.”
Song Jin lay limply on the bed and nodded gently.
Duan Yan turned on the light and left the room, leaving Song Jin alone.
The moment Duan Yan left, Song Jin immediately dropped her weak pretense.
She touched her forehead; it was indeed a little hot.
But she didn’t feel a headache, just an indescribable heat within her body.
Her skin craved the touch of another cool surface, and every pore of her body was telling her of its desire to be close to Duan Yan.
A minute later, Duan Yan returned.
Seeing Song Jin’s dazed look, she thought her condition had worsened and comforted her gently.
“It’s four in the morning now. It’s not convenient to give you any medicine randomly. Let’s use this cooling patch for now.”
Song Jin took the cooling patch and felt the heat in her body subside a little, but the internal heat still lingered.
Duan Yan sat on the edge of the bed and gently stroked Song Jin’s forehead.
“Feeling any better?”
Song Jin nodded and gave Duan Yan a grateful smile.
“I’ll take you to the hospital in a little while. It’s a hospital that values privacy, so you don’t have to worry about your information leaking.”
Duan Yan had gotten her driver’s license in college, so taking Song Jin to the hospital was naturally not a problem.
‘Song Jin wasn’t actually sick. Wouldn’t going to the hospital expose her?’
Thus, Song Jin feigned weakness and pouted coquettishly:
“My body doesn’t feel uncomfortable, but my head is so dizzy. I just want to sleep. I don’t want to go to the hospital, boohoohoo…”
Duan Yan couldn’t press her further.
Song Jin had a spoiled personality and wasn’t one to be easily persuaded.
She could only wait until tomorrow morning to take her to the hospital.
After speaking, Duan Yan turned and walked towards the next room.
“Alright then. You rest first. I’ll go sleep in the room next door.”
“No!”
Song Jin quickly spoke up.
Seeing Duan Yan turn back with a questioning look, she had a flash of inspiration and put on a pitiful appearance.
“What if I feel worse? Can’t you stay for just one last night?”
Her slightly-opened almond eyes, like shimmering autumn water, were filled with grievance and confusion.
Her lips drooped slightly, as if being rejected were a great injustice.
Duan Yan looked at her, and her heart couldn’t help but soften.
Somehow, she found herself agreeing to Song Jin’s request.
Duan Yan’s gaze fell on the dress Song Jin was wearing.
“Should I get you some pajamas?”
Song Jin nodded.
She couldn’t possibly sleep in clothes like these.
Duan Yan rummaged through her closet, her fingers weaving through the clothes, but she couldn’t find a single unworn set of pajamas.
After all, the person was a guest, even if an unexpected one.
But etiquette couldn’t be abandoned.
She couldn’t possibly let a guest wear clothes she had already worn.
She turned around, somewhat embarrassed, a faint blush on her cheeks.
“Sorry, all the pajamas I have here have been worn. Do you mind?”
Song Jin’s eyes lit up.
The corners of her lips curled up slightly, and before Duan Yan could notice, she quickly suppressed her smile and replied calmly, “It’s fine. I should be the one to apologize.”
“Would you prefer a nightdress or pajamas?”
“A nightdress.”
Song Jin answered without thinking.
She disliked the restrictive feeling of pajamas and pajama pants.
Duan Yan guessed at Song Jin’s preference, thinking that a young girl like her would probably prefer a nightdress.
So, she took out a nightdress with a cartoon pattern from the depths of her closet.
It was a gift she had received at an endorsement event, and she had only worn it once.
When Song Jin saw the nightdress being handed to her, her eyes lit up at the pattern.
Her good impression of the dress surged like a tide, and her feelings for Duan Yan grew.
Seeing Song Jin hesitate, Duan Yan explained, “Don’t worry, I’ve only worn it once. Don’t be afraid.”
“No, I like it very much.”
‘Please, this is a dress my wife has worn! I’d wear clothes taken right off Duan Yan’s body, though of course, Duan Yan can’t take them off for me to wear.’
Song Jin eagerly took the clothes and, without any reservation, began to change in front of Duan Yan.
Her dress had a slightly open-back style.
When she sat on the bed and her fair fingers undid the button at the back, her entire smooth back was exposed.
Duan Yan’s gaze was involuntarily drawn to the sight of the fair skin, as beautiful as a small, pure white flower.
Duan Yan’s cheeks flushed hot.
A minute later, she realized her gaffe, coughed lightly, and turned away to avoid the sight, leaving a single sentence behind: “You change first. Call me when you’re done.”
Song Jin touched her head, continued changing her pajamas, and secretly sniffed the scent on the nightdress.
The smell of laundry detergent was mixed with a clear, elegant lotus fragrance.
It was the familiar scent of Duan Yan.
Although it was very faint, Song Jin could still distinguish it.
She smiled foolishly, then slipped the nightdress on, casually tying the straps at the back.
“I’m done.”
Duan Yan turned around and saw Song Jin in the cartoon nightdress, nodding to herself.
This nightdress really did suit her.
She looked both pure and playful, the youthful aura even stronger than when she wore it herself.
Duan Yan gave her own quilt to Song Jin and got a new one for herself.
After turning off the lights, the two of them, each wrapped in their own quilt, gradually drifted off to sleep.
If not for the gap between the two quilts, they would have looked like lovers who had been together for many years.
Song Jin tossed and turned in bed, the heat in her body still refusing to subside.
She secretly slanted a glance over and saw that Duan Yan seemed to have already fallen deep asleep.
She then silently moved her body, like a nocturnal animal, carefully inching closer to Duan Yan’s quilt.
Her movements were so light she was afraid of disturbing the dust in the air.
After getting close, she quickly closed her eyes, pretending to have been sound asleep all along.
In the moment of silence, she didn’t feel any movement from Duan Yan.
Her courage grew.
She pretended to carelessly slide into Duan Yan’s quilt, pressing closely against her.
Duan Yan remained in a state of deep sleep, with only the sound of her even breathing and the rise and fall of her chest.
Only then did Song Jin completely relax, seeing that Duan Yan had indeed entered dreamland.
Her right hand, like a thieving kitten, silently reached out from behind and carefully wrapped around Duan Yan’s waist, her arm pressing against Duan Yan’s.
The moment their skin touched, the heat in Song Jin’s heart gradually dissipated with this closeness, replaced by an indescribable coolness.
A satisfied smile appeared on Song Jin’s face.
Her breathing gradually steadied, and her eyelids grew heavier and heavier.
Finally, in Duan Yan’s presence, she peacefully fell into a deep sleep.
Held tightly by Song Jin, Duan Yan’s mind was anything but calm.
Duan Yan had actually been awake the whole time.
The faint sounds reaching her ears made her curious, so she pretended to be asleep, wanting to see what Song Jin would do.
She hadn’t expected that a scorching hot body would press up against her next.
A trace of regret rose in Duan Yan’s heart.
If she had known this would be the situation, she would never have pretended to be asleep.
At this moment, being surrounded by such a warm girl, her whole body was stiff.
She tried hard to relax her body and fall asleep, but Song Jin’s strong presence made her impossible to ignore.
Song Jin’s arms were wrapped around her waist, her cheek pressed against the side of her neck.
Her warm breath sprayed gently on her sensitive skin.
Every detail was hard to ignore.
Duan Yan wanted to gently break free from Song Jin’s embrace, but found that although Song Jin’s grip wasn’t tight, it wasn’t easy to escape.
She turned her head to the side and caught a glimpse of Song Jin’s sleeping face.
Her long eyelashes, like the wings of a butterfly, were quietly closed, casting a soft shadow on her cheeks.
Her sleeping face was serene and natural.
The collar of her nightdress had been skewed by her previous movements, vaguely revealing the snow-white skin underneath.
Duan Yan’s gaze darted over, and as if scalded, she quickly looked away.
Sigh, how could something so magical have happened?
Duan Yan could never have imagined that the little orange cat she had so meticulously cared for was actually a transformed Song Jin.
She didn’t know if Song Jin had any memories from when she was an orange cat.
If she did, then all those private things she had said to the orange cat would mean…
Oh god! Her image!!!
Although Duan Yan sometimes thought of herself as being rather mischievous, in the eyes of outsiders, she had always been a mature person with a strong sense of distance.
Now, a little girl had seen this side of her…
Duan Yan sighed softly in her heart, but seeing Song Jin’s innocent sleeping face, she comforted herself again.
The Song Jin of tonight also seemed to be completely baffled.
Perhaps she was also unaware.
She would wait until tomorrow when Song Jin was feeling better and then ask her what was going on.
Counting Song Jin’s even breaths by her ear, Duan Yan’s eyelids drooped without her realizing.
Finally, in Song Jin’s warmth and breathing, she too fell into a dream.
