“Zero, did you find them?”
Kunta asked after Zero, looking dusty from her travels, returned to the Kunta Song and Dance Troupe’s base.
Zero deactivated “Snow Dove” and shook her head, looking very dejected in her wheelchair.
Kunta thought Zero was dejected because she hadn’t found Mianbao and her companion.
Just as she was about to comfort Zero, she heard her say:
“I got lost.”
“…”
Kunta closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose.
The corner of her wrinkled brow twitched noticeably.
“There’s a spatial fluctuation.”
Wendi suddenly jumped back several steps, warily unfolding a magic pattern on her hand.
Then, under their watchful eyes, Hu Qingyu, wrapped in a ball of white light, appeared before them.
“Hu Qingyu?”
Wendi frowned and retracted the magic array on her hand.
Kunta took a step forward and looked Hu Qingyu up and down with a scrutinizing gaze for a moment.
“The residue of spatial magic? Could it be a random portal?”
As expected of a former powerhouse on the continent, her gaze was sharp enough to see through it at a glance.
“But where is that damn girl Firia?”
Hu Qingyu looked from side to side but didn’t see a trace of Mianbao.
His eyebrows twitched fiercely.
‘Miss Mianbao, that woman, actually tricked him into coming back here, while she herself teleported who-knows-where?’
But for Hu Qingyu, it didn’t matter much.
From the current situation, the Kunta Song and Dance Troupe was still his best place to stay.
“Tell me properly what happened after you two fell,” Kunta said with a clear cough.
Hu Qingyu agreed without objection.
Lange Village, a white light flashed in the backyard of Ka Slan · Wei Er’s house.
After confirming that no one else was around, Mianbao walked out from behind the dilapidated walls where she had been hiding.
With an extremely complicated, and more so fearful, heart, she walked through her own backyard.
But the scene now was completely different from before.
The bloodstains and bodies on the ground were gone.
It seemed someone had already cleaned up.
Mianbao had been in the Demon King’s Dungeon for less than a day in terms of her senses, but several days had already passed in the outside world.
The tragedy of Lange Village had been discovered, and specialists from the Church had already come to clean up.
Leaning Sirius, which was on her back, gently against the wall, Mianbao slowly walked through the house she had lived in for over a decade.
She reached out her hand, her slender fingers landing on every piece of furniture, high or low.
Stroking them, Mianbao seemed to see again the days she had lived with her parents.
Her dad teaching her how to carve magic-engraved bullets, teaching her to aim, to shoot.
Her mom standing by with the gentlest smile in the world, watching the father and son, holding the most delicious food in the world.
But all of this had become a thing of the past.
The people were gone, and the only thing left in the house was silence and silent memories.
Only now, there was the added sound of dripping water.
Mianbao clutched the photo frame in her hand, which held a photo of the family of three printed with imprinting magic, and pressed it tightly to her chest.
Her other hand braced against the wall, constantly clenching into a fist.
She sobbed, and crystalline tears streamed from the corners of her eyes down Mianbao’s exquisite face, dripping one by one onto her hand and the photo frame in front of her chest.
“The Demon King’s Dungeon. I didn’t expect something that existed in the legends of the First Epoch to still exist now.”
Kunta and Wendi sat face to face with Hu Qingyu.
“And you actually defeated the new generation’s Demon King?”
Kunta’s eyes held a hint of doubt as she looked at Hu Qingyu.
“Yes.”
Hu Qingyu explained without a blush or a racing heart, “It might be because he had just merged with the previous Demon King, so that new Demon King’s strength was far from that strong.”
“That’s also true. Many inheritances require time to be compatible, so it’s not surprising that you could defeat the Demon King with your strength,” Wendi said with a nod.
“Two old ladies, do you know if there is such a thing as a ‘god’?”
Thinking of how “that” Miss Mianbao had called herself a god, Hu Qingyu wanted to inquire from this aspect to see who “that” Miss Mianbao was.
After Kunta and Wendi exchanged a glance, Kunta said, “Legend has it that the origin of the First Epoch was the work of a ‘god’.”
“But two epochs have passed. We know nothing about the whereabouts or name of that ‘god’, and many people have already lost their faith in the so-called ‘god’.”
“However, in this regard, the people of the Church would know more, because they still believe in this unknown ‘god’.”
After hearing this, Hu Qingyu stroked his chin and silently thought of going to the Church to take a look when he had the chance.
Then Wendi continued, “In our impression, the person closest to a god is probably the 【Holy Moon Princess】 Cecilia on the Dead Moon Lan’ernaduo.”
“Although I have never truly seen her, we have all witnessed her power.”
“She appeared in the sky of the continent and destroyed the location of the Labyrinthine City back then with a single blow.”
“It is said that at that time, her strength was not even half of what it originally was.”
“To fight against her, King Edis of the Meiluos Empire created the ‘anti-god Magi-Knight Armor’.”
“In Edis’s heart, Cecilia must also be a god-like existence, right?”
After answering Hu Qingyu’s question, Kunta shifted the topic back to Mianbao.
“As expected, she managed to escape. But since she has signed this ‘contract of servitude’, she shouldn’t expect to find a job anywhere else.”
“She can just wait to starve to death, ohohoho.”
Kunta laughed evilly, like a terrifying old witch.
“Hehehe.”
Hu Qingyu forced a laugh in response.
“Old ladies, where are we going next?”
“The destination of this performance is the most prosperous city in the Star-Moon Empire besides the capital, Bewa: Xiulan.”
The next day.
On the hillside behind Lange Village, brand-new tombstones stood one after another.
This was a cemetery specially built by the people of the Church after checking the information of the residents of Lange Village.
A young girl with flowing white and blue long hair, wearing a white long dress whose hem was lifted by the wind, stood on the hillside like a beautiful scene from a scroll painting.
Mianbao’s smooth and lovely calves pulled at the hem of her dress as she took small steps to stand before three tombstones.
On the tombstones were written three names: Ka Slan · Wei Er, Ou Li · Nai Li, Ka Slan · Mianbao.
Mianbao bent down and placed the beautiful white flowers she had specially picked from the roadside, bunch by bunch, in front of her parents’ tombstones.
“Dad, Mom.”
“I’m sorry. I can’t be with you.”
“Also, do you know? Your son actually turned into a super beautiful girl. Isn’t that incredible?”
“Dad, you also said that boys should go out and venture more. Now, although I’ve become a girl, I will still listen to you and go out and venture.”
“This time, I want to go to Xiulan City to have a look first.”
