Chapter 34: Yun Mo

Yun Mo’s voice was magnetic, carrying a refined, unmistakable air that made it instantly recognizable.

The moment he heard it, Chen Feng knew—Yun Mo had arrived.

And that was something he hadn’t expected at all.

The place where he and Luo Yan were standing was at the very periphery of the banquet, where most of the younger guests had gathered to simply enjoy the festivities. Normally, Yun Mo wouldn’t appear in such a corner.

After all, there were so many rising stars and elites waiting for the honor of toasting him. Just getting the chance to offer him a glass of wine was a great privilege—let alone having Yun Mo come over to them and strike up a conversation.

That kind of treatment was usually reserved for high-ranking officials in Neo Aonan or individuals who had already made extraordinary achievements in business or politics.

But Yun Mo had really come.

Could it be for Luo Yan?

That was the most convincing explanation Chen Feng could come up with in that moment.

Yet the idea felt absurd.

In his mind, someone like Yun Mo—so noble and exalted—would never actively approach someone like Luo Yan unless she made the first move.

There were so many big shots at this banquet. Was Luo Yan really more important than any of them?

Besides, the banquet had just begun.

How could it be her turn already?

Even as a clueless second-generation heir, he understood one thing clearly—at Yun Mo’s level, in the face of interests and benefits, beauty was usually the least valuable currency…

As his thoughts spiraled, Yun Mo had already reached them.

He smiled politely and nodded to Luo Yan before turning to Chen Feng. After a moment’s pause, he said:

“I remember you—Chen Feng, son of Deputy Minister of Defense Chen Xing. I’m not mistaken, am I?”

Chen Feng had heard that Yun Mo was extremely well-read and had a near-photographic memory.

Now he experienced it firsthand—even someone as unimportant as himself could be remembered so clearly.

On any other day, he might have been flattered or thrilled. But right now, he felt only embarrassment and dread.

How much had Yun Mo heard just now…?

He knew that Luminous-level ability users had hearing and vision far superior to ordinary people…

Chen Feng gave a dry laugh. “Yes, you’re correct…”

“A word of advice: Those who treat others with kindness will be treated kindly in return. Those who show respect will be respected. If you don’t respect this young lady, there’s no reason she should treat you pleasantly.”

He paused, his tone sharpening.

“Likewise, if you don’t respect me, then I have no reason to respect you. A son’s misdeeds reflect on the father. Because of this, I will re-evaluate the cooperation proposal your father submitted to me.”

The words struck like a hammer.

Chen Feng felt as if he’d plunged into an ice bath. His face turned deathly pale.

“I… I spoke out of turn. That was my fault… Mr. Yun, if you’re displeased, please direct your anger at me. But as for my father, I beg you—”

“I will judge such matters myself,” Yun Mo said calmly, cutting him off. “I don’t need you to worry on my behalf.”

Chen Feng’s throat went dry. He swallowed and said stiffly, “Understood… I won’t bother you any longer, Mr. Yun.”

The once arrogant Chen Feng slinked away, tail tucked between his legs.

Yun Mo shook his head, then turned to Luo Yan and smiled. “Red wine calms the nerves. Would you care for some?”

He gently swirled the wine in his glass, eyes gently inquiring.

Luo Yan didn’t dislike red wine, and considering he had just helped her, it was only polite to give him some face.

She picked up a glass and smiled. “No problem.”

After clinking glasses and taking a light sip, Yun Mo asked, “I don’t believe I caught your name?”

“Luo Yan.”

Yun Mo paused to think. He had no recollection of this name, so he admitted, “I hadn’t heard of you before I came to Neo Aonan.”

“There are plenty of people in Neo Aonan. It’s normal not to know everyone. Besides, I only arrived recently.”

“No wonder…”

Yun Mo nodded in realization and didn’t press further.

Instead, he said formally, “I haven’t properly introduced myself either. I’m Yun Mo, serving as an opinion consultant for the Aurora Group’s visit to Neo Aonan. It’s an honor to meet you, Miss Luo Yan.”

He looked at her with open appreciation in his eyes.

“What I said to Chen Feng just now may have sounded harsh. I doubt he’ll dare be disrespectful again, but it’s possible he might hold a grudge and take it out on you… If that happens, you can come find me at the Carlson Hotel. Just give the security guards your name.”

“No problem. Thank you in advance, Mr. Yun.”

Luo Yan nodded, quietly sighing to herself.

As expected of the dream god idolized by millions of young women—not only was his status extraordinary, but his conduct was also faultless.

Yun Mo gave a slight nod. “Then I won’t disturb you further. Enjoy the banquet, Miss Luo Yan.”

With that, he turned and left.

He neither pressed her nor lingered.

But as he walked away, a trace of confusion passed over his handsome face.

He still couldn’t determine her ability level.

If she was a non-ability user, then that was that. But if she wasn’t, then it meant she had exceptional control over the energy field—something only possible for someone at the Luminous level or higher…

He shook his head, brushing the thought aside.

Still, her graceful figure kept flashing through his mind.

When she’d first entered the hall, even from afar, she had stunned him. And the feeling only grew stronger the closer he got.

That white gown, that beauty that combined two extremes—ultimate seduction and ultimate sanctity—in perfect harmony.

As they talked, he found his eyes involuntarily drawn to her voluptuous curves and other places full of feminine allure.

He had only ever felt something similar toward one other woman—an enchantress whose charms had captivated countless brilliant men.

And yet, Luo Yan stirred him even more.

At first, he couldn’t put his finger on it, but after this brief interaction, he had a vague understanding.

It was her temperament.

Luo Yan had a rare and striking aura—one that elevated her stunning beauty to a whole new level.

And that… was deeply attractive.

After Yun Mo left, Lu Xiao Na returned not long after.

She tried to act as though nothing had happened, but the excitement in her eyes betrayed her.

At first, she danced around the topic, trying to coax Luo Yan into bringing up Yun Mo.

But Luo Yan, playing the part of the “unromantic” big sister, refused to bite.

Eventually, Lu Xiao Na couldn’t hold back anymore and blurted:

“Hehe, Big Sister Luo Yan… did you meet Yun Mo just now?”

Seeing her finally crack, Luo Yan couldn’t help but feel amused and exasperated. “Yes. Chen Feng came over too and tried to get handsy. Yun Mo happened to be passing by and scared him off.”

“Ah… that guy Chen Feng came too? Well, I guess it’d be strange not to see him at an event like this… He didn’t go too far, did he?”

“Would he dare? This place is crawling with people. But it’s a pity I didn’t get a chance to teach him a lesson myself,” Luo Yan said, shaking her head.

Lu Xiao Na felt a sudden chill.

She quickly changed the topic. “Then let’s not talk about him. Let’s talk about the real star of the night… What did you think of him, Big Sister Luo Yan?”
