Chapter 36: Urgency, Battle, and Regret

On the road, inside the car, Xi Yue had but one goal: to reach Lin Ling swiftly. She needed to take Lin Ling away from this planet before her spiritual energy was depleted or she was discovered by humanity’s Battle Sovereign.

Her emotions at this moment were incredibly complex, a maelstrom of shock, relief, anxiety, and profound worry.

Just an hour prior, Wu Hang had revealed a series of earth-shattering events that had transpired in the world since her ‘death.’

Among these, the most shocking was undoubtedly the cosmic anomaly two months ago, when twelve energy bodies encircled Blue Star. While Wu Hang and other Blue Star inhabitants remained oblivious to its true meaning, Xi Yue understood it perfectly.

She knew, with absolute clarity, that such a phenomenon heralded the birth of a Primeval Battle Sovereign. Later, Wu Hang’s words confirmed it: a powerful, silver-haired mysterious girl had indeed recently appeared on Blue Star. She could only be the newly born Primeval.

A Primeval, born in a place so scarce in spiritual energy and lacking advanced technology? It was utterly preposterous!

The very existence of a Battle Sovereign meant someone on this planet could detect and eliminate her in her current state. If her recent actions were discovered by that Battle Sovereign, she would undoubtedly face dire consequences.

Blue Star was no longer a safe haven. Thus, Xi Yue had to exert every ounce of her strength to resolve matters before the Battle Sovereign became aware of her presence.

This was precisely why, despite her immense urgency, she was forced to drive home. It was not only to evade the Battle Sovereign’s perception but also to conserve her dwindling spiritual energy.

Her greatest relief was knowing that Lin Ling, that little dummy, was safe and sound. Upon hearing the news, Xi Yue felt an immense burden lift, her long-held anxieties finally receding.

However, Wu Hang’s subsequent revelation completely rattled Xi Yue: that Battle Sovereign was actually connected to Lin Ling? It was an utterly shocking development!

Of course, Xi Yue refused to believe Lin Ling would find a new love just over a month after her ‘death.’ Yet, according to Wu Hang’s description, the woman was exceptionally beautiful—a masterpiece crafted by the Creator herself—and perfectly suited to Lin Ling’s former otaku sensibilities.

This filled Xi Yue with profound anxiety. If that were truly the case, it wasn’t impossible for Lin Ling to be ‘abducted’ by her.

‘Damn it! With so many men to choose from, why pick Lin Ling! Had this new Primeval lost her mind!’

Similarly, this raised another pressing concern for Xi Yue: would Lin Ling even be willing to leave with her? And what were her chances of snatching Lin Ling from the Battle Sovereign’s grasp now? Zero, most likely.

“Hmph, how will I know if I don’t try? If all else fails, I’ll have to resort to that one move,” Xi Yue sighed, her resolve hardening in her heart.

‘Damn it, I need to hurry. If that bastard detects me, they’ll undoubtedly cause trouble again! Then, I might have no choice but to sever my connection with this body once more.’

With that thought, an anxious Xi Yue stomped on the accelerator!

Meanwhile, beside her, Wu Hang was frothing at the mouth, succumbing to severe motion sickness.

Within Lin Ling’s residential complex, a thunderous explosion shattered the tranquil everyday. Curious residents, as if on cue, peered from their windows, their gazes drawn to the source of the blast.

Immediately afterward, a terrifying roar assailed their ears, followed by successive tremors that shook the ground.

In this age of advanced internet, they instinctively understood: this was, in all likelihood, one of the colossal beasts mentioned in the news.

In an instant, the entire complex plunged into chaos, people scrambling to flee. Only a daring few, clutching their phones, headed towards the incident, gambling their lives for a moment of internet fame, stepping onto a path of no return.

On the battlefield, having entered its beast mode, the Red Horned Beast charged directly at Qingfeng Immortal. It accumulated a vast amount of explosive energy within its colossal, crimson horns, aiming to smash into the hunched elder.

?!

Hmph! Overestimating yourself!

Qingfeng Immortal, also in battle mode, his body encased in wooden armor, chose not to evade the beast’s assault. Instead, he seized the Red Horned Beast’s massive horns with both hands.

With a powerful heave, he halted its full-force charge, only being pushed back a mere few meters himself.

“You are no match for me in strength!” Qingfeng Immortal roared triumphantly.

Just as the self-satisfied Qingfeng Immortal prepared to launch his counterattack, something utterly baffling occurred. The Red Horned Beast’s eyes narrowed, its lips curved into a slight smirk, displaying a distinctly smug and mocking expression.

This left Qingfeng Immortal utterly bewildered, causing him to even slow his counter-attack.

‘My attack was completely defended, yet you still dare to mock me?’

However, the very next second, his amusement vanished. The Red Horned Beast’s horns flared with an intense red glow, and explosive energy instantly surged forth.

“Boom! Boom!!!”

A torrent of powerful, scorching heat, unleashed at point-blank range, slammed into Qingfeng Immortal, striking his flesh before he could fully encase it in wooden armor.

Struck by the devastating blow, Qingfeng Immortal was sent flying dozens of meters backward, landing in a humiliating heap. Any semblance of a Seventh-tier expert’s dignity was utterly lost.

Though his image was shattered, a Seventh-tier expert remained a Seventh-tier expert; they were not so easily defeated. The grim-faced Qingfeng Immortal swiftly scrambled back to his feet.

However, the Qingfeng Immortal who pushed himself up from the ground was in an utterly pathetic state. He was left with nothing but tattered shorts, the few strands of hair on his head completely incinerated.

His gaunt body was fully exposed beneath the twilight sun, his entire chest covered in extensive burns, and even his seemingly indestructible outer gauntlets were cracked.

“You bastard!” the elder shrieked hysterically.

Vast amounts of vital spiritual energy continuously converged around Qingfeng Immortal’s body, and his burns steadily began to heal.

Witnessing this, the Red Horned Beast decisively launched another charge, determined not to grant him time to recover! Explosive energy gathered in its horns, ready to inflict another unforgettable pain upon the old man before it.

Yet, just as the Red Horned Beast was about to collide with Qingfeng Immortal, it suddenly found itself unable to advance. Giant vines, having sprouted from the ground unnoticed, had firmly ensnared its four limbs and horns, rendering it immobile.

The Red Horned Beast struggled with all its might, yet could not break free from the restraints. Helpless, it had no choice but to release the energy accumulated in its horns. It had to focus all its power on incinerating the vines binding its body.

As its power shifted, the Red Horned Beast’s scales gradually glowed fiery red. The intense heat quickly ignited the giant vines, but it still seemed unable to break free immediately.

“I won’t fall for the same trick twice!” the enraged Qingfeng Immortal declared, raising his right hand. Green spiritual energy coalesced into a sphere of light, as he intended to blast the humiliating beast before him to death while it was immobilized.

Hmm?

However, just as he prepared to strike, he suddenly sensed another colossal creature rapidly approaching from behind him, radiating an overwhelming murderous intent!

The newcomer was Wangzai, who had been patrolling the residential complex.

Wangzai was no longer the adorable, fluffy husky from before. He was now a colossal wolf, cloaked in pure black, pointed armor, his head adorned with a deep crimson crown, and his body etched with unknown golden patterns, making him appear majestic and awe-inspiring.

Wangzai opened his massive, blood-red maw! Without hesitation, he launched an attack on this foolish intruder who had dared to trespass on his territory!

‘Shit! There’s another one!’ Qingfeng Immortal’s face instantly contorted in horror.

But quickly, soothed by the words of the black-and-white orb within his mind, Qingfeng Immortal naturally regained his composure, a chilling smile gracing his lips.

‘Heh heh, that’s right, I’m a Saint-tier! How could two Sixth-tier beasts possibly stand against me?!’

With this realization, the vines rapidly grew, transforming into a colossal wooden hammer in Qingfeng Immortal’s hand.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, Little White was frantically scrambling in a patch of grass, utterly at a loss. Anxiety radiated from her, as she pondered what she should or could even do.

The mere thought of those two idiots choosing to go back and fight infuriated Little White beyond words! Couldn’t they discern the power disparity? Even if the old man opposite them seemed a bit foolish, he was a genuine Seventh-tier existence, while they were merely Sixth-tier. Were they just going to rush to their deaths?

Having spent so much time together, affection had naturally grown. Little White certainly didn’t want those two to die in vain, but her current anguish stemmed from her inability to stop them.

And that old man was clearly human, right? Where did such a powerful human appear from on Blue Star now? And he was even here to seize the Star Source? What was going on?

Currently, Little White was overwhelmed with a sense of powerlessness. While she wished to help Wangzai and the Little Pangolin, she was merely an AI, utterly devoid of combat capability. Even if she could assist in devising battle plans to increase their chances of victory, there was a significant hurdle.

However, those two big oafs probably wouldn’t understand, and she would only become a hindrance. She wanted to seek Lin Ling’s help, but only knew Lin Ling had gone to forge weapons; her exact location was unknown. Even if she knew, it would be too late.

“It’s fine, Master, just focus on your work. Don’t worry about us here.”

“Mhm, but…”

“It’s really fine, Master! To others, this is just an ordinary two-bedroom apartment; no one will come looking for trouble. Even if trouble does arise, Wangzai and Little Pangolin will protect us! While their strength isn’t particularly impressive, they can absolutely run rampant on Blue Star!”

“That’s true…”

“So, Master, go about your work with peace of mind! Leave the house-watching duties to me!”

****

Recalling her earlier confident demeanor, Little White was instantly filled with regret. If only she had known, she would have told Master to leave a clone!

But then again, who could have known when a Seventh-tier being would suddenly appear on Blue Star? And not only that, but they chose precisely the time Master went out? Something felt utterly wrong; it shouldn’t be such a coincidence!

However, as Little White was deep in her troubled thoughts, a vine quietly approached her unsuspecting back.

Meow??

After a single meow, silence descended upon the grass.
