Chapter 4: Person with demonic powers

The sun lost its brilliance in an instant!

In its place, the world was suddenly covered in darkness—yet this darkness wasn’t pitch-black.

That noble moonlight spread across the land, with silver radiance softly glowing on everyone within a 500-meter radius centered around Luo Li.

“It’s a miracle!!”

“It’s a miracle brought by the Saintess!”

“That’s a demon!!”

“Quick! Turn the heavy crossbows around!”

“Protect the Saintess! Kill the demon!”

In that moment, those who didn’t understand the situation quickly realized what was happening.

It was then that Luo Li truly saw the Holy Church’s influence among the people.

They didn’t fear death. Even when faced with a towering demon, they charged forward without hesitation!

In the blink of an eye, the demonified Martha was surrounded by countless people.

However, most of these soldiers were below Level 10. The spears in their hands couldn’t even pierce Martha’s skin.

“Your Holiness… You actually figured it out?!”

She had been hiding so well—how had she been exposed?

Luo Li stood on the Holy Carriage, silver light glowing faintly around her like a divine goddess, sacred and untouchable.

She didn’t answer Martha’s question. She only gave her a calm glance, thinking about how to keep Martha from escaping.

The western part of the city was far too weak in defense.

Because of the demons’ tactic of surrounding three sides and leaving one open, most of the soldiers had been sent to the eastern, southern, and northern walls. As a result, even heavy crossbows were scarce here.

Ordinary soldiers couldn’t possibly harm a Level 30 demon like Martha.

Suddenly, Martha swung her hand, and the charging soldiers were sliced apart as if by invisible blades. Blood and flesh flew in every direction!

Fortunately, Luo Li had already activated her class-specific skill. All nearby allies were granted a one-time immunity to damage.

Still, some unlucky soldiers accidentally got stabbed by their own comrades’ weapons during the chaos.

At that moment, Brave Knight Adam reacted. Staring at Martha, he shouted:

“Everyone else, fall back! You can’t hurt her!!”

As he spoke, Adam drew his great silver cross sword, stepped back, raised it high above his head, and roared:

“Cross Slash!!”

“Grasp of Death!!”

Luo Li saw Martha suddenly extend a beast-like claw toward Adam, completely unafraid of the glowing silver sword.

And in that split second, Luo Li clearly saw the smug delight in Martha’s eyes.

Something’s wrong!

It’s a trap!

Adam didn’t realize it—and there was no time to warn him. All Luo Li could do was activate her class skill again.

She had no choice—her level was too low to fight.

“Inspire! Heal! O Moonlight, protect my knight!”

All three skills were cast instantly.

Inspire boosted Adam’s attack power by 10%,

Heal worked in sync to restore health even if he got hurt,

and finally, the special skill:

“Moon’s Protection” —
For a set time, it grants someone the concept of “no injuries.”

However, Luo Li had still underestimated this traitor.

Even though Martha looked shocked at Moon’s Protection, her hand still gripped a dark shadow.

She clenched her hand suddenly!

“Pfft!”

Without warning, Adam seemed to suffer a huge blow. He coughed up blood, and his Cross Slash vanished mid-air. Staggering forward a few steps, he dropped to one knee, using his sword to prop himself up.

Before he could react, a black claw slammed into his chest!

With a deafening crash, Adam, clad in shining silver armor, was launched like a cannonball and crashed into a house on the roadside. Dust exploded into the air, hiding his body from view.

Seeing this, Luo Li frowned deeply and stared at Martha.

Martha now stood nearly 2.5 meters tall—about eye-level with Luo Li, who was standing atop the Holy Carriage.

On her once-beautiful face was a cruel and triumphant smile.

“Hehehe~ Your Holiness, do you know why you haven’t leveled up at all this past year? Why you haven’t learned a single holy protection skill? It’s because of me… All because of me! If you had learned those protection skills, this loyal knight of yours wouldn’t have had his heart crushed by my curse~ Hahaha~”

So that’s how it was.

This wasn’t a damage skill—it was a curse.

That’s why Moon’s Protection didn’t work.

No wonder the original Saintess had remained Level 1 after an entire year.

No wonder she hadn’t learned a single holy protection skill—just Inspire, Heal, and a few class-specific abilities.

It had all been a trap laid in advance.

Looking at Martha’s smug face, Luo Li’s expression grew even paler. At that moment, she had no choice but to draw the Sword of Chastity, gripping it tightly in her hand.

Even though her hand turned white from the pressure, even though her heart was filled with fear, even knowing that Martha could likely kill her in one strike—she would not back down.

“Martha, do you think I didn’t notice?”

“Of course you noticed, or we wouldn’t be here like this today. But I’m really impressed. I hid so well—how did you find out? Can you tell me what mistake I made that gave me away?”

Seeing Luo Li still hesitating, Martha sneered:

“Don’t tell me… you’re still waiting for your knight to save you? That’s impossible! I crushed his heart already~ Booho

Despite the help of Luo Li’s class skill, the Loyal Knights still couldn’t do real damage to Martha. At best, they gave her a few scratches—like a half-hearted massage.

But Martha hadn’t expected what happened next.

Just as she was basking in victory, a shining silver figure suddenly burst out from the collapsed house!

As that silver flash passed the edge of Luo Li’s vision, she couldn’t help but smile slightly.

“Who says crushing a heart always means death?”

Just as she finished speaking—

The great silver cross sword stabbed straight into Martha’s chest!
It pierced through the evil there, ran her through, and sprayed out black blood—far more than the first time!

“This… how is this possible!!”

Martha vomited blood, staring in disbelief at Luo Li, completely ignoring Adam, who had just driven the sword into her.

“Didn’t you notice that before I used the class skill, I had already cast Heal on him?”

All of Luo Li’s skills were Level 1—except Heal, which was Level 2.
As long as someone wasn’t instantly obliterated, they could quickly recover.

What’s more, Adam’s only injury had been his heart.

And Luo Li’s Heal, as a Saintess’s version, didn’t heal based on injury severity—it healed based on area.

That’s a big difference from a regular nun’s healing.

At her current level, she could heal exactly one heart-sized area.

Luckily, Adam hadn’t taken any other damage.

So his crushed heart had been completely repaired!

And Luo Li had remained calm because, thanks to her teammate status, she could see that Adam wasn’t dead.

“Knight Adam, hold her off! Reinforcements are coming!”

With such a huge commotion—activating the Moon Banner, using Moon’s Protection, and the changing skies—it was certain that Guardian Knights had noticed what was happening.

With their speed, Guardian Knights could reach this part of the city in just a few minutes.

Within the protection zone of the Moon Banner, Luo Li already sensed two figures glowing with golden light approaching.

That light could only come from Guardian Knights serving the Moon Saintess of Glorious City!
