Chapter 4 : Whispers of the True Power

A week has passed since I met Rachel.

During that time, I tried to avoid going out of the sea as much as possible. The villagers had come near here before, so I was preparing for any unexpected situations.

“How on earth did I do that?”

Instead, I focused on practicing the telekinesis I had used when Rachel fell. But no matter what I did, the telekinesis wouldn’t activate again.

“Move, sesame, Wingardium Levimove, Surisuri Yongsurisuri, Skill: Telekinesis, Status Window.”

I uttered famous spells from various countries that I knew, but none of them seemed to work. Come to think of it, I hadn’t said anything special before the telekinesis manifested. Maybe it’s not about chanting spells in the first place.

Swoosh…

I slowly moved through the water to take a break. Seeing the various landscapes in the sea calmed my mind and body, almost like taking a walk. Sometimes, if there was a fight between sea creatures or some other problem, I would solve it. Solving it meant using brute force, since I couldn’t use dragon-like abilities, but it was better than doing nothing.

“Now I finally understand the hearts of people who cultivate bonsai or gardens.”

This sea can be largely divided into three areas.

First, there is a part surrounded by a circular cliff. This place is similar in shape to a blue hole on Earth, and it’s quite deep. If you keep diving inside, you’ll find an underwater cave, and my whole body fits inside.

In other words, it’s just perfect as my home.

Beyond this is a wide expanse of sea. Creatures like corals and fish are all here. Sometimes, when my body feels stiff, I come out to this sea and swim.

“………”

My body, which had been moving for a while, froze.

In my sight, there was an underwater canyon that went down endlessly. What was unusual was that this canyon stretched horizontally. It was as if it divided the sea in front of me and this place with a boundary line.

The dark sea beyond that canyon is the third area.

I’ve never been there before. An unknown instinct that I’ve had since becoming a dragon keeps warning me. I didn’t want to venture there without fully understanding or controlling my abilities.

“At least it’s good that there doesn’t seem to be anything there…”

But as if those words were a jinx, I suddenly felt the surrounding currents change.

Nearby, about 1 km away.

I turned my body and moved along the canyon, and I found the place where the current had changed. The schools of fish that had been near there were quickly fleeing.

“That’s…”

What was causing such a disturbance to change the current was the red shark I had seen before. To be precise, it was a creature with a red aura like that shark.

“It’s big enough to understand how it changed the current.”

The difference was that it was dozens of times bigger than the red shark. It looked slightly larger than the blue whale, the largest whale on Earth. A creature of such size was twisting its body and splitting the sea at an abnormal speed.

I curled my body to block the red whale and simultaneously examined its features. The huge fins on its top, bottom, and sides were so sharp and hard that they were unharmed even when colliding with reefs. Rather, they even caused slight damage to the reefs.

My body shot forward, creating a strong wave. It took only a moment for my 80-meter-long body to reach the creature.

But unlike when I dealt with the shark, I didn’t engage in direct close combat and passed right by it. The whale, swept away by the rough waves, began to chase me at a speed that didn’t match its size.

An unexpected chase began.

The red whale looked several times stronger than the shark, but it was no match for me. I knew instinctively that no matter what that guy did, no matter what stupid thing I did, the outcome wouldn’t change.

Frankly, I could end it by ramming it with my body, ignoring any injuries from its fins.

Therefore, I decided to use this small battle as an opportunity.

I decided to increase my overall combat experience and, at the same time, find out the activation conditions for telekinesis.

I know almost nothing about this world. At best, I know that this place has a civilization similar to medieval Europe, and that there are creatures with a red aura. Even this might be useless information in other regions.

But one thing was certain.

To survive in this world, it is important to learn how to fight beforehand.

The strongest being I’ve met so far was the red whale that was chasing me. But no one knows how long that record will last. There is a good chance that a creature stronger than that guy, even stronger than me, will appear.

I didn’t want to die helplessly then.

That was why I was learning how to fight.

A day later, the red whale was lying under a rock with thousands of cuts on its body.

At first, I couldn’t control my strength and inflicted several near-fatal injuries, but the whale just kept coming at me with its teeth and fins like a zombie.

“I’ve learned as many close combat techniques as I can for now.”

Of course, I didn’t mean I mastered them, but I acquired them. However, my physical abilities were so outstanding that if I practiced the techniques consistently, I could use them proficiently in a short time.

Most of the techniques I devised were inspired by lizards and snakes. Snakes, in particular, were a great help in creating techniques that utilized the dragon’s long body.

The first three techniques I created are: Charge, Coil, and Grab.

They’re weak names for a dragon with a cool storm presence, but I couldn’t help it because I tried to make them as simple as possible.

Charge.

It’s literally a charge.

It is a technique mainly used for preemptive attacks or ambushes using terrain, and it utilizes high speed, a hard body, and powerful teeth. As a result of studying the red whale’s fins, I found that the scales that make up my body were very hard. In addition, my teeth were sharpened enough to easily pierce the fins that even withstood stones.

With a body that can reach speeds of Mach, the destructive power was no joke. Simply put, it’s like colliding with a diamond truck coming at Mach speed.

But the downside was that the shock wave from the collision also damaged me.

The second, Coil, uses the long body to wrap around the enemy. The advantage is that it can be used even on hard enemies that cannot be charged. The red whale, whose whole body was crushed, and a large rock that was almost reduced to sand, were proof of this.

And since there is no damage from my own technique, it can be considered a stable technique.

“The downside is that I can’t use it on a really big guy.”

The sight of me struggling to wrap around something bigger than me would probably look like a lark trying to imitate a stork.

And finally, Grab is a grab using four feet. This technique was conceived from the fact that the claws were stronger than the teeth or coil. Each of the twenty claws on my body is strong enough to tear apart rocks, and at the same time, the gripping force is also very strong. Even those who cannot be covered by the previous two techniques can be attacked through the feet.

But there was the biggest drawback.

“If only I had a longer reach like a dragon…”

It’s very short.

Compared to the long body, the thin and short arms were very difficult to reach the opponent. Think of a lizard. Their feet are a means of moving, not a tool for grabbing something. My feet were the same.

“Still, it’s better than nothing.”

What would it feel like to have to go around without four feet? Honestly, I didn’t even want to imagine it.

Anyway, I created these three techniques with clear strengths and weaknesses, but these were not all of my techniques.

“In the first place, unlike dragons, there are almost no cases of Oriental dragons engaging in close combat.”

I parted the water and stood in front of the red whale lying under the rock. I quietly looked at the guy and began to concentrate.

Creak…

An ominous sound began to be heard from the guy’s body. The crushed bones were twisting again, messing up the inside of the guy. It was hard to hear because it was underwater, but the guy seemed to be screaming.

Last night, I awakened when I felt a momentary threat to my life from the attack of the guy who rushed at me while I was resting. The method of activating telekinesis was absurdly simple.

It was just a matter of wishing as if making a wish.

To the point where the water flow slows down, the sounds of creatures’ movements decrease, and the strong waves stop in mid-air. Finally, it was enough to wish to the point where it felt like all time around had stopped.

And that was not difficult for me, who had both the spirit of a dragon and the spirit of a human.

Creak…

Crack!

Finally, the body of the red whale, unable to overcome the limit, was torn into thousands of pieces. The divided body of the guy began to gather again, and it was compressed to the size of a basketball.

I put the whale meatball into my mouth and quietly rose to the surface.

The waves crashing against the cliff gradually lost their strength and began to calm down. Then, they started to slowly swirl around me. The rapidly rotating seawater suddenly broke away from its position and was shot at nearby reefs.

Boom!

This was the true fighting style of a dragon.
