Chapter 46: Time to choose my sword!

“Are you going back to your parents’ house later, or are you staying at the Sword Sect?”

“Huh… what do you mean?”

“I’m going to a very dangerous place, so Little Li shouldn’t go. I’ll be back in a couple of days.”

Song Ruoxue still maintained a gentle tone.

‘A dangerous place… where is she talking about?’

‘Is it what the stinky dragon said last night… that she’s going to pick the Undying Nirvana Herb?’

Su Li’er pursed her lips, a little troubled.

Seeing this, Song Ruoxue comforted her, “It’s alright, I’ll be fine. The worst that can happen is that I’ll just run away.”

Su Li’er twiddled her fingers, very conflicted. “Alright then, I’ll think about it first…”

Tang Yingyue pouted and lightly tapped the stone table. “Child, didn’t we agree last night to go together? Are you breaking your promise?”

Su Li’er shook her head. “I haven’t finished what I have to say!”

“It’s alright, Little Li. You don’t have to listen to this useless dragon,” Song Ruoxue comforted her.

“Sect Master, Little Li wants to say… if we’re going to run away, can you carry me on your back? I can’t run fast…” Su Li’er scratched her head in embarrassment. “If the Sect Master is going, of course I have to go too. Wherever the Sect Master is, that’s where Little Li will be!”

“Little Li…” Song Ruoxue felt a wetness in her eyes. She rubbed her eyes and promised solemnly, “Don’t worry, I said I would protect Little Li.”

“Alright, then I’ll have to trouble the Sect Master~” Su Li’er clapped her hands in delight.

A gentle smile hung on Song Ruoxue’s lips. Where was a trace of her cold and aloof temperament? She was clearly like a caring older sister looking after her younger sister.

Tang Yingyue broke out in a cold sweat and couldn’t help but complain, “You two… can you not be so lovey-dovey in broad daylight?”

“What do you mean?” Su Li’er was puzzled.

“Little Li, don’t mind her. She’s a dragon, she can’t even tell the difference between a dragon and a dog,” Song Ruoxue said softly.

“Damn it!” Tang Yingyue immediately wanted to breathe fire.

She slandered in her heart: Damn it, I just can’t get along with this woman, Song Ruoxue!

‘You love to dote on your little junior sister so much?’

‘You’re going to be sarcastic with this dragon?’

‘Do you believe I’ll snatch your little junior sister away!?’

‘Damn it, one after another, all of them are just putting on a show.’

As Tang Yingyue thought this, she looked at the obedient Su Li’er beside her and shook her head with a little hesitation.

This inexplicable gaze made Su Li’er suspicious.

“What’s wrong, Big Sister Dragon?”

“Nothing, I’m not interested in children.”

“…Ah ha, what a coincidence. I’m not interested in demons either.”

Tang Yingyue showed a smile as if great minds think alike.

Su Li’er responded with a smile that wasn’t a smile.

‘Alright, after this half a day, I’ve finally understood. The Sect Master and the stinky dragon are just a pair of rivals. When they’re together, they have to be sarcastic with each other, and from time to time, they’ll even shift the conflict to me!’

‘Damn it.’

‘The Sect Master is one thing, she’s the woman I have to seduce, so I’ll endure it!’

‘You stinky dragon are so arrogant, huh?’

‘Do you believe that I, the great nine-tailed fox, will also win you? I’ll make you worship at my feet!’

‘Could it be that absorbing the dragon lady’s lifespan will give me more?’

“You child, what’s with that look?” Tang Yingyue was inexplicably afraid.

“Nothing, nothing.” Su Li’er blinked her eyes and pretended to change the subject nonchalantly. “Sect Master, where are we going?”

The topic finally got back on track.

Song Ruoxue began to slowly explain.

“According to the information from the useless dragon, the main base of the Martial Slaughter Sect is located… about ten kilometers behind Sunset Glow Village, hidden in a cave. And the Nirvana Undying Herb is also hidden there by them.

The Martial Slaughter Sect has also allied with the Heavenly Thunder Mansion, which is a force in the Central Province’s imperial city, and they are preparing to activate the altar again.”

“Is that so…” Su Li’er was deep in thought.

“So what we need to do is, first go into the city to customize some disguises, buy some potions that can eliminate our auras… then find a chance to sneak into their main base and get the divine herb.”

“It doesn’t sound difficult.”

“Hey, after you two get the divine herb, you have to remember to help me beat up those bastards from the Heavenly Thunder Mansion. Don’t sell out your teammate!” Tang Yingyue added in a timely manner.

“We’ll see when the time comes,” Song Ruoxue said nonchalantly.

“Damn it!” Tang Yingyue slammed the table and stood up, her brows furrowed. “Song Ruoxue, I’m telling you, if you sell out your teammate, I’ll put your little junior sister in a sack and carry her away! You’ll never be able to find her!”

“Are you looking for death? I’ll cut you down right now,” Song Ruoxue’s eyes turned cold.

“Bring it on, who’s afraid of whom?” Tang Yingyue did not shy away.

A few drops of cold sweat ran down Su Li’er’s face. Good heavens, these two women really can’t be together!

They can’t even be allowed to talk to each other!

“Um… Sect Master and Big Sister Dragon, please don’t fight. If you two fight, I’ll be a little scared…” Su Li’er’s eyes were full of fear.

“Alright,” Tang Yingyue sat down angrily.

“Let’s talk about serious business,” Song Ruoxue collected her emotions and continued, “I remember Little Li doesn’t have a sword yet, right?”

“Ah… yes.” Su Li’er nodded.

“Alright, what kind of sword do you like? A light one or a heavy one?”

“Little Li isn’t picky, I’ll use whatever you give me.”

Su Li’er was pleasantly surprised. After being in the Sword Sect for so long, the Sect Master was finally going to give her a sword!

Then, Song Ruoxue closed her eyes and formed a hand seal.

Suddenly, the wind and snow stopped. In mid-air, it was like the end credits of a slow-motion movie, flickering frame by frame. This strange power came from under the ground of the Sword Sect’s backyard.

—Swoosh.

Streaks of brilliant light broke through the earth, leaving trails of flame in the slow-motion end credits.

Su Li’er was dazzled. She began to count how many swords there were.

Crimson flame. Frosty cold. Dark green. Silver light. And the last one… a dark, murky black. Black mist shot up into the sky.

Su Li’er was very surprised.

‘Why is there black mist? Did they dig up a landmine?’

Tang Yingyue, however, shouted in surprise, “Holy crap, Song Ruoxue, you even have a demon sword!?”

Song Ruoxue opened her eyes and frowned slightly. Then she commanded all the immortal swords to fly over. As if they had a life of their own, they hovered neatly in front of Su Li’er.

“Little Li wants to ask… what is this demon sword?”

“Child, you can’t choose this sword!”

“Why not?”

Seeing this, Song Ruoxue patiently explained, “It escaped from the forbidden land back then. It has its own spirituality and divine sense. It’s unclear who its original owner was. It might have been left behind by some ancient great power, or it might be an immortal sword that was demonized after being contaminated with demonic energy. In short… it carries a strange demonic energy. Once contaminated, it will erode one’s mind, and there is no cure. It killed many people back then.”

Tang Yingyue took over the conversation with a sigh. “Your Sect Master used the remaining few immortal swords in a joint effort, sacrificing her own power, and finally completely killed the demon sword’s divine sense and spiritual heart, sealing all of its demonic energy… From then on, your Sect Master became famous! I just didn’t expect it to still be at the Sword Sect.”

“Is that so… so that’s why the Sect Master was left with an ailment?” Su Li’er’s heart surged as she listened to this fantastical story.

“That’s part of the reason.” Song Ruoxue smiled self-deprecatingly. “I was left with an ailment and was in a hurry to cultivate the Ice Spirit Root, which ultimately damaged my life origin.”

“Ah… Sect Master, I’m sorry. Little Li shouldn’t have asked about these things.” Su Li’er lowered her head in apology.

“It’s alright. I’m basically fully recovered now, so Little Li doesn’t have to worry.” Song Ruoxue couldn’t hide her anticipation and continued, “Have a look and see which sword suits you?”

“Do I have to choose?” Su Li’er jumped down from the stone chair and observed each immortal sword up close.

“High-grade immortal swords, each with its own spirituality, will actively choose the master they like.” Song Ruoxue said patiently, “Feel free to choose. Little Li is kind-hearted and has a pure mind. Her sword heart will surely be clear. No matter which immortal sword it is, they will all like such a master.”

“Okay, then I’ll give it a try!”

Su Li’er couldn’t hold back her excitement either.

Her fingertips slowly touched the first silver immortal sword in front.

Song Ruoxue’s voice sounded at just the right time, explaining, “This sword is called—Heavenly Snow. It is made from trillions of ice crystals and has condensed the pure power of water and ice in the world. It loves a master with a pure mind the most.”

As soon as she finished speaking, a soft sound was heard.

—Buzz.

‘Heavenly Snow’ went out.

Su Li’er was stunned.

‘Huh?’

‘Wait… buddy?’
