They’re coming!
The Moon Banner detected two golden auras rapidly approaching from the south and north city gates!
At this speed, the two knights would arrive in under two minutes!
At Level 50, a Guardian Knight could absolutely overpower even a demon one-on-one. With two Guardian Knights, the outcome was obvious—Martha didn’t stand a chance.
Luo Li finally let out a breath of relief.
Looking down from the Holy Carriage, she saw Martha, hunched over and clutching her chest. Martha had now fully transformed into a demon, and ominous black energy was pouring from her body.
This was the true strength of the Demon Race.
Even injuries fatal to humans wouldn’t kill them. The only way to truly finish them off was by cutting off their heads.
Adam clearly understood this. After stabbing Martha a second time, he didn’t hesitate. He quickly retreated, yanking his silver cross sword out of her massive chest—nearly the size of a basketball. Black blood spilled down her now-exaggerated curves and onto the ground.
Though the injury wasn’t fatal, it was serious. Martha’s much-larger-than-human body staggered backward a few steps.
“Argh—You bastards!!”
Martha was completely naked—her clothing had been torn apart by her transformation. But she didn’t care at all about being exposed under the sun and stared at by everyone.
Demons had no human morals.
And traitors who became demons lost all sense of shame once they transformed.
At that moment, reinforcements finally arrived at the west gate. Besides Adam, two other Brave Knights, over a dozen Loyal Knights, and more than a hundred Knights of Hope joined the fight.
Martha was completely surrounded. At this point—even with wings, she couldn’t escape!
But Luo Li didn’t relax just yet. This was her first time facing the Demon Race. Even though Martha looked cornered, there was no telling what tricks she might still have.
The three Brave Knights surrounded Martha from three directions.
The Level 30 Loyal Knights formed the second ring around her,
and over a hundred Level 20 Knights of Hope made up the outermost circle.
Even if they just stalled for time—this lineup could wear her down!
Martha also knew she was trapped. Her expression twisted, her large body crouched low like a leopard preparing to strike.
Adam’s body was glowing with silver light—Luo Li’s Moon’s Protection. For five minutes, he would be immune to damage.
“Knight Adam! By the authority of the Saintess, I command you to slay the traitor Martha! Show your glory!”
Battlefield opportunities vanish in a blink. If they waited too long, reinforcements might arrive—but Luo Li’s buffs would expire first.
If that happened, anything could go wrong.
She had no choice but to urge Adam to act, even if it carried risk.
“Yes, Your Holiness!”
Adam shouted and stopped charging energy. He dashed forward with a burst of silver light cutting through the night sky.
“Piercing Strike! Haa!”
At the same time, Martha moved too. Her black limbs exploded with speed, turning her into a sprinting predator!
The moment they collided, the clash of metal echoed like a thunderous bell!
The two figures passed each other—Martha seemed to have the advantage. Adam, though stumbling one step forward, did not fall. He quickly turned and charged again!
The two other Brave Knights also jumped into the fight, engaging Martha directly.
For now, even though it wasn’t easy, the three knights were holding their ground—and even gaining a slight advantage.
The first two times Adam stabbed Martha were both ambushes—once with Luo Li’s power, and once because she let her guard down.
But both times, he failed to cut off her head.
Luo Li checked her remaining skills. Besides the basic ones, she still had two uses of Eye of Judgment, and one Hero Manifestation.
These were class-specific authority skills—not normal skills—so they didn’t cost mana.
The two Eye of Judgment uses might help, but right now her dynamic vision couldn’t track the speed of the four fighters. All she saw were afterimages. If she locked onto the wrong target, the result could be catastrophic!
Three Brave Knights were barely enough to keep up with Martha.
If even one of them fell behind, Martha could turn the whole battle around.
Luo Li couldn’t act recklessly.
That left only Hero Manifestation, but it required targeting a teammate. And again—her vision just couldn’t keep up.
In just a few seconds, dozens of metallic clashes rang out through the air. Sparks flared again and again between the four blurred figures.
Luo Li’s heart pounded with worry. But she knew—right now, there was nothing she could do but watch.
Fate itself was being decided in these short seconds.
Her right hand gripped the Sword of Chastity tightly. Her left held onto the Moon Banner.
Luo Li smiled.
Not because she was confident—but because only a smile could make the enemy think she was.
The panicked soldiers saw the Saintess smiling calmly and slowly began to settle down.
At some point, the heavy crossbows on the city walls had turned to aim at Martha and the knights.
“Knight Sir! Step back!! Heavy crossbows are ready!”
Soldiers on the wall shouted down. But inside the battle circle came Adam’s voice:
“Don’t fire!!”
The crowd was shocked.
The demon knew about the heavy crossbows, and to avoid being locked on, she kept moving constantly. The Brave Knights had no way to retreat from the fight.
Luo Li understood—but she had to keep holding the Moon Banner. If she moved, the Glorious Protection would fade. Without buffs, the battle might tip toward Martha.
The fight was brutal.
Adam and the others were not just teammates—they were close friends. Their coordination was flawless.
Even so, Martha was still strong enough to overpower a Level 40 Brave Knight one-on-one. The three were just barely holding on.
Passing by Martha again, Adam noticed something.
She was too tall!
“Belu! Eddy! Go for her legs!!”
The two Brave Knights, in full silver armor, heard him and raised their cross swords—slashing straight at Martha!
Martha’s massive size gave her an advantage—but sometimes, that can turn into a weakness.
One of them slid low under her!
Their greatswords sliced across her legs—blood sprayed out!
Martha let out a terrible scream.
And the next second, the scream was abruptly cut off—
“Die!!”
