Luoyao was nervous.
No, very nervous, extremely nervous.
Noah hadn’t touched her all day.
Aside from a morning kiss, the silver-haired succubus, usually craving to roll in bed with Luoyao 24/7, hadn’t done anything else.
Daydreaming, reading, cleaning, playing on her phone—Noah tried every way to pass time.
Everything except doing something with Luoyao.
Calling Noah’s state monk-like calm was a stretch.
But it definitely felt… aloof.
As someone fully “claimed” by Noah, every spot on Luoyao’s body that sparked intimate excitement was molded to Noah’s touch.
She might protest with “no” or “stop,” but deep down, she craved more thrilling moments with Noah.
Sadly, today’s Noah seemed… distant.
Luoyao sat cross-legged on the sofa.
Noah sat nearby, legs crossed, a book on her lap, flipping through it slowly.
Her long silver hair was tied into a simple ponytail.
A pair of black-framed glasses perched on her nose.
The light made her skin look even fairer, softer.
Luoyao rarely saw Noah so quiet.
In her mind, Noah’s beauty was bold, unrestrained—not this serene, refined elegance.
Luoyao blinked, hesitating briefly.
She shifted on the sofa, crawling toward Noah quietly, cautious like a kitten.
As she neared, Noah asked softly, “What’s up, cutie?”
Her eyes stayed on the book.
Luoyao leaned close to Noah’s cheek, whispering, “Kiss me.”
Her tone carried a hint of pleading.
Noah’s lips curved.
She turned, kissing Luoyao’s lips lightly. “There, go back to your spot.”
“Mmm… that’s it?”
“Yeah, didn’t you just ask for a kiss?”
Hiss—
Something’s wrong!
Did Noah swallow a celibacy pill or remove the hormone part of her brain?
Normally, if Luoyao leaned in for a kiss, Noah would’ve swept her to the bedroom for a thorough “reward.”
Now she was so… calm.
Off.
Very off!
Luoyao bit her lip, hesitating.
Then she leaned in, kissing Noah’s cheek quickly.
She hugged Noah’s arm. “Did I upset you, Noah?”
She’d sensed the low mood all day.
Being so wrapped up in love could make you reckless.
You might do something to hurt your partner without realizing.
Luoyao wasn’t a spoiled princess.
She was self-aware, always attuned to Noah’s emotions.
Noticing Noah’s odd vibe, she thought a kiss might spark her interest.
But it didn’t seem to work.
So… she’d just ask directly.
Noah closed her book, meeting Luoyao’s eyes softly. “When humans eat dumplings, they dip them in sauce, right?”
Luoyao blinked, confused by the question.
But she nodded honestly. “Yeah.”
“What do they dip in?”
“Uh… soy sauce, chili sauce, vinegar… wait—” (TN: Vinegar sounds like Jealous in CN)
The slow-to-react human miss finally caught on.
“You’re… jealous?”
Noah squinted, smiling, and nodded.
Luoyao’s eyes went blank.
She sat back, racking her brain.
What happened these past two days to make Noah jealous?
Jealousy meant someone else caught Luoyao’s attention, even briefly.
It outshone Noah, and Noah’s sharp senses picked it up, stirring her mood.
So, who…
“Xiaan.”
Luoyao looked at Noah, whispering, “Is it because I’ve been close with Xiaan lately? You think I’ve been ignoring you?”
Noah was upfront, no sulking. “Yup.”
Luoyao bit her lip, lowering her head, sincerely saying, “I’m sorry. If you’re mad, let it out. I can take it. Scold me, even hit me a couple times, it’s fine.”
Noah frowned. “Scold you? Hit you? Ha, I couldn’t. But if you really wanna apologize, kiss me in front of Xiaan sometime.”
Luoyao snapped her head up, fingers clutching her clothes.
After a pause, she said, “Okay, no problem.”
That “no problem” stunned Noah.
Her shy little dummy would agree to something like that to apologize?
“Wait, I was kidding,” Noah rushed to clarify.
“It’s okay, Noah. I can do it.”
“Luoyao…”
Luoyao fiddled with her pinky, head down, voice low but heavy with guilt.
“I’ve been ignoring your feelings these past few days. That’s my fault. I haven’t been a good girlfriend. I’m apologizing now, so I should accept your punishment, your emotional backlash.
That’s what an apology really means, right?”
The true meaning of an apology…
It’s not just Noah—most people never ponder this.
What’s an apology for?
Self-soothing after a mistake?
Softening up to calm the other down?
Different people, different answers, so its meaning wavers.
But Luoyao gave Noah a clear one:
An apology means sincerely asking forgiveness, accepting any emotional backlash, even doing something mortifyingly embarrassing.
It’s your partner’s right after you’ve hurt them.
Most only reach “asking forgiveness.”
Accepting backlash? Rarely considered.
They often react to backlash with: “I apologized, what more do you want?”
That doesn’t resolve conflict—it escalates it.
But Luoyao wasn’t like that.
She hadn’t been thoughtful, had neglected Noah’s feelings.
That made Noah uncomfortable.
Realizing this, Luoyao felt she had to accept Noah’s “punishment.”
How mortifying that punishment might be… was another story.
“I was just teasing, Luoyao. I didn’t expect you to take it so seriously. I don’t need your apology. I just wanted you to know I was jealous, maybe coax me a bit…”
“Maybe I’m a bit petty,” Noah said.
“No, no, our love’s a bit unique, right? We’re both girls, so getting jealous is normal,” Luoyao said, smiling.
“I’ll keep my distance from Xiaan, don’t worry.”
Her little dummy’s smile was always so healing.
Noah gazed at that radiant smile, feeling both comforted and oddly pained.
What had her Luoyao been through to become so empathetic, always seeing others’ perspectives?
So sweet it hurt to blame her.
“But… is this possessiveness a vampire thing, or do you really care about me that much?”
Noah’s red eyes dimmed slightly. “It’s me caring about you.”
“Nothing to do with being a vampire.”
Luoyao gave a wry smile. “Sorry, Noah. This is my first relationship. I often forget to consider your feelings. I’m really sorry.”
Sniffling, the soft, sweet human miss inched closer.
She leaned over, resting her head on Noah’s lap.
“Pet my head, okay?”
Noah smiled faintly, stroking Luoyao’s soft hair.
Even without the request, she would’ve.
Luoyao closed her eyes, expression subtle, content like a cute animal.
She loved how Noah’s hands felt on her body and hair.
Noah’s hands were warm, beautiful.
To Luoyao, everything about Noah was perfect.
She loved all of her.
No one could compare to Noah.
Their souls fit so perfectly, like they were once one, split for some reason.
Now reunited, their incomplete souls merged, never wanting to part.
“Noah.”
“Hm?”
“Will you always love me?”
“I will.”
“Say more.”
Noah paused, her fingertips grazing Luoyao’s earlobe.
Feeling her breath and pulse, she poured every ounce of her love into her words.
“Luoyao, my love for you is like a rose in deep space. Rooted in stardust, nurtured by the Milky Way, blooming forever in the silent cosmos. Until… the end of time.”
