“First, I’d never steal a woman from Lady Noah.
Second, I’d never steal a woman from Lady Noah.
Last, I’d never steal a woman from Lady Noah.
So please, tell your Lady Noah to spare me!”
Xiaan was sharp.
Today in class, she noticed Luoyao seemed different from yesterday.
After some prodding, she learned Noah was jealous.
An angry vampire? Xiaan had seen that—terrifying.
A jealous vampire? She hadn’t, but it couldn’t be good.
Better to clear things up with Luoyao.
“Haha, no worries, I talked it out with Noah. We’re good now, don’t stress.”
“Phew, that’s a relief… Your bond is so strong, how could I come between you? Geez.”
Luoyao smiled. “We’re still good friends, right?”
“Yup, yup.”
“But earlier, you looked off. Thought you were sick again.”
Luoyao huffed. “I’m fit as a fiddle. I could do ten push-ups in one go!”
“My hamster could do ten sit-ups!” Xiaan teased, exasperated.
The girls bantered, laughing.
Then class began.
Huangwei walked in with a USB drive.
“Good evening, students.”
“Teacher Huangwei, good evening~”
The class always greeted Huangwei warmly.
To them, as blood slaves constantly tormented by their masters, locked in rooms, cut off from the world, her classes were their only break.
A place to relax, learn something new.
Huangwei never bullied or belittled them.
In front of this bold, alluring teacher, they reclaimed a shred of human dignity.
That’s probably why… Huangwei was so loved.
“Alright, students, yesterday we covered a vampire taboo: the Holy Blood Art.”
“Today, we’ll discuss other taboos.”
Luoyao, absent yesterday, was clueless about the “Holy Blood Art.”
She leaned toward Xiaan, whispering, “What’s the Holy Blood Art?”
“Um… I’m not super clear either. Huangwei gave a brief overview yesterday. It boosts the user’s combat power massively but shortens their life. That’s the gist.”
“Oh, got it.”
That made sense to Luoyao.
Blood Hunt Church was a mature-rated RPG.
In a game, life-draining skills were par for the course.
“Luoyao, Xiaan, no whispering.”
“Okay… got it!”
Huangwei turned, plugging the USB into the projector.
She signaled a student by the door to dim the lights.
With a click, the room darkened.
Only the projector’s beam remained.
It cast an image onto a white screen: an ancient, dried-up well.
“This is the ‘Well of Burning Sin,’ located in the castle’s back mountains. It was built over a thousand years ago by Lady Yelan, our Mother.
Keen observers might notice its clever placement. The back mountains are rugged, yet the well’s mouth points straight to the sky.
At noon, when the sun blazes, light and heat pour into the well. If a vampire is inside, they’d suffer excruciating pain, dying slowly.”
A student raised a hand. “Teacher Huangwei, is the well for punishing guilty vampires?”
“Pretty much.”
Huangwei spoke slowly. “Vampire society isn’t like human society, bound by countless laws. So-called ‘guilty vampires’ are rare. Not every crime lands you in the Well of Burning Sin.
The well is only for vampires who commit one specific sin…”
Huangwei paused deliberately, piquing the class’s curiosity.
And ensuring the human girl in the back listened closely.
“Loving a human.”
Gasps rippled through the class.
It felt like a high school teacher revealing a clever solution, sparking chatter.
But among them, Luoyao stayed silent.
Her eyes widened, fixed on the well’s image.
Her expression was complex—confusion, doubt, shock, even… fear.
Vampires who love humans get punished?
Noah never mentioned this.
The Well of Burning Sin’s penalty seemed too cruel.
Imagine a vampire, in love with a human, thrown into that well.
No cover, no shelter.
When the sun rises, its rays pour in.
No place to hide.
Ultraviolet light burns their skin, bones, and so-called… sins.
It wouldn’t kill quickly.
For a vampire, it was the cruelest torture.
But… why?
Why was loving a human a crime?
Weren’t vampires a free race?
Even harming their own kind faced little punishment.
Why was loving a human… met with such brutality?
Amid the class’s curious murmurs, Luoyao felt detached from humanity.
Normal humans didn’t worry about the Well of Burning Sin.
They didn’t love their masters.
But… Luoyao and Noah…
She couldn’t bear to look at the well’s image.
She lowered her eyes.
Her right hand clenched into a fist.
How could this be… how could this be…
Why was loving someone a sin?
Luoyao closed her eyes.
Her mind spiraled, picturing Noah trapped in the well, tortured…
Darn it.
No.
That… can’t happen!
Meeting, knowing, and loving someone in this vast world was hard enough.
Why face such unfair punishment?
Luoyao couldn’t understand, couldn’t accept it.
But one thing was certain:
If loving someone was a sin to vampires, then she, Luoyao, was irredeemably guilty of loving Noah.
“Alright, settle down, discuss after class. We’re moving on. Next, we’ll cover how vampires compete for blood slaves.”
“This photo, called ‘Moonbreak Platform,’ shows where two vampires fight for a s*ave…”
Luoyao didn’t hear another word.
She just wanted class to end.
To go home, to hug Noah.
To hold her… tightly.
