Chapter 54: The Wall-Slam and the Revelation

“Hey, your name is Shangguan Yun, right?”

“Why hasn’t my Xiyue returned yet?”

“They’ve been gone so long, and it’s already dark.”

“They’re a young girl, and so beautiful too.”

“What if they encounter a perverted robber on the road, and something terrible happens?”

Chi Congyu paced back and forth, stomping her feet, her voice laced with apparent anxiety.

Shangguan Yun, though her face was wreathed in smiles, mused inwardly, ‘Hehehe, calling Lord Xiyue a girl? You clearly don’t know him well enough.’

‘You don’t even know Lord Xiyue’s true gender, yet you dare claim he’s “yours.” How shameless.’

‘Lord Xiyue is indeed very beautiful, but encountering a perverted robber? Hehehe.’

‘I’d love to see the robber’s expression when they lift Lord Xiyue’s skirt.’

‘That scene would surely be incredibly awkward.’

‘Of course, if the robber were homosexual, then consider everything I just said null and void.’

‘Besides, Lord Xiyue is incredibly powerful; how could anything happen to him?’

‘If it weren’t for the fact that you’re the Pope’s granddaughter, I would have kicked you out long ago.’

“Hey, take me to Xiyue’s bedroom.”

“I’m so curious to see if Xiyue’s bed decorations are all pink and delicate, like a blossoming maiden’s.”

“Just imagining that scene, imagining myself and Xiyue in bed together… it’s too wonderful~”

Chi Congyu covered her face as she spoke, letting out a strange, muffled laugh.

Shangguan Yun watched Chi Congyu’s lovesick demeanor with a growing headache.

‘She was beginning to feel a pang of sympathy for Lord Xiyue.’

‘Alas, why must Lord Xiyue’s marriage partner be such an eccentric person?’

‘The hours she had spent with her this afternoon… how to put it?’

‘She just felt there was something off about her, yet couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was.’

‘Perhaps she was simply overthinking things.’

“That’s not allowed.”

“Lord Xiyue said no one is permitted to enter his bedroom, no matter who they are.”

With those words, Shangguan Yun directly blocked the doorway to the bedroom.

“Oh?”

“Do you truly believe you have the confidence to stop me?”

Chi Congyu spoke, advancing towards Shangguan Yun, who stood resolutely in the bedroom doorway.

“I don’t know.”

“Even if I can’t stop you, what then?”

“How can I know if I can’t stop you without trying?”

“Even if it costs me my life, I will fulfill the orders Lord Xiyue entrusted to me.”

“If he said no, then it is no.”

Shangguan Yun’s gaze hardened, watching Chi Congyu with a newfound wariness.

“Hehehe, quite spirited, aren’t you?”

“You bear a slight resemblance to him.”

“But why bother?”

“To be so obedient to your master, like a loyal dog.”

“Come, little dog, bark for me a couple of times; let your soon-to-be master hear you.”

As Chi Congyu spoke, she slowly moved closer to Shangguan Yun until they stood intimately close, their eyes locked in a direct stare.

At that very moment, Chi Congyu suddenly let out a light, airy laugh, then swiftly pinned Shangguan Yun against the tightly closed bedroom door in a wall-slam.

Chi Congyu then rested her head on Shangguan Yun’s stiff shoulder.

Leaning close, she gently blew two breaths into Shangguan Yun’s ear, making her whole body tense.

“Mmm… Hey, what are you doing?”

“Get away from me.”

“No matter what, you won’t get in, not unless you step over my dead body.”

“Oh, my, my, such spirit, asking me to step over your corpse.”

“If I truly did that, then my prospects with Xiyue would likely be ruined.”

“Relax, since you are his ‘dog,’ I won’t do anything to you.”

“Just be a good, obedient dog and do what a dog should.”

“Alright, don’t be so tense; I won’t eat you.”

Chi Congyu said, her face alight with a smile, as she patted Shangguan Yun’s back.

****

Just then, the living room door suddenly swung open.

Ouyang Xiyue, who had rushed to open it, was met with an astonishing sight: Chi Congyu was holding ‘his’ Yun’er in her arms, looking quite pleased with herself.

‘What exactly has this Chi Congyu done to my Yun’er while I was away?’

‘If even a single strand of Yun’er’s hair is missing, I absolutely won’t forgive her.’

“Take your filthy hands off her, and stay away from my Yun’er!”

Ouyang Xiyue stormed in without even changing his shoes.

He swiftly swatted Chi Congyu’s hand off Shangguan Yun’s shoulder, then pulled Shangguan Yun protectively behind him.

“Lord Xiyue, you’re finally back!”

“This scoundrel, this brute… she bullied me, she tried to molest me… *sniffle*… I was so… so scared…”

“Thank goodness you returned, Lord Xiyue, or else I… I *sob*… *wail*…”

Shangguan Yun, hiding behind Ouyang Xiyue, suddenly burst into tears.

Well, that did it; Ouyang Xiyue’s already frayed nerves were now thoroughly ignited.

“There, there, Yun’er, don’t cry.”

“Don’t cry, it makes you less pretty.”

“I apologize for returning late and letting you suffer this grievance.”

Ouyang Xiyue comforted the weeping Shangguan Yun, gently wiping away her tears, while Chi Congyu, standing behind them, watched with wide eyes.

‘Good heavens, this girl actually… played the victim and bit back?’

‘No, that’s not right, she didn’t bully me.’

‘Her expression changed far too quickly, didn’t it?’

‘Just moments ago, she had a resolute look, swearing to complete her master’s orders even unto death.’

‘How could she suddenly burst into tears?’

‘And when did I ever molest her?’

‘This is bad, this is truly bad.’

‘Because of that pose just now, from Xiyue’s perspective, it definitely looked like I was embracing her, and quite intimately at that.’

‘It’s over, it’s completely over.’

‘Now, even if I jump into the Sacred Sea, I won’t be able to wash this clean.’

‘My beloved, will you believe me?’

Chi Congyu thought this with a sense of utter despair.

After comforting Shangguan Yun and settling her onto the living room sofa, Ouyang Xiyue turned his gaze, filled with murderous intent, towards the somewhat bewildered Chi Congyu.

“You, come here.”

Ouyang Xiyue said, directly grabbing Chi Congyu’s hand and pulling her into the kitchen.

He then slammed the kitchen door shut with a fierce motion.

Then, with a forceful grip, he flung the unprepared Chi Congyu against the kitchen wall.

He then pinned her there, looming over her in a dominant wall-slam.

“You can visit me here, that’s fine.”

“But I warn you, do not harbor any intentions towards the people around me, especially those I care about most.”

“If you dare harm them in the slightest, forget about our marriage alliance.”

“Don’t think that just because you hold some leverage over me, I care about it that much.”

“If it weren’t for finding a way to revive my friend sooner, I wouldn’t have even agreed to meet you.”

“Don’t push your luck.”

“I can refuse this marriage alliance at any time if I wish.”

“Furthermore, I’m not without clues regarding resurrection magic.”

“Don’t overestimate yourself; I will revive my friend eventually.”

“It’s merely a matter of time.”

“If you continue to be unreasonable, don’t blame me for being impolite.”

Ouyang Xiyue spoke, his expression turning chilling, as he slammed his fist directly beside Chi Congyu’s head.

With that seemingly light impact, the kitchen wall instantly fractured into a spiderweb of cracks.

The fissures continued to spread, relentlessly expanding until they covered the entire wall and even a small portion of the floor before finally ceasing.

Chi Congyu, feeling the sheer force of that blow, felt her heart pound and her breath catch in her throat.

She could distinctly sense Ouyang Xiyue suppressing his inner rage; he was truly furious.

Had that blow landed on her head, her skull would likely have already…

‘Although I knew this person was very strong, I never expected… what a coincidence!’

‘From his earlier question, it was clear that his strength had advanced even further than when I saw him a few hours ago.’

‘What exactly did this person do in such a short time?’

‘To improve his strength so rapidly is truly unbelievable.’

‘Though she thought this calmly, Chi Congyu could distinctly feel her back drenched in cold sweat.’

‘Of course, she was still somewhat terrified.’

‘Just as she had imagined, what if, just what if, he hadn’t controlled his strength and struck her head?’

‘She couldn’t bear to think of the blood splattering everywhere.’

‘Indeed, when a person is not provoked, they can appear as gentle and enduring as a little rabbit.’

‘Yet, at the peak of their patience, when they finally explode, that little rabbit sheds its disguise, revealing the terrifying, true form of a tiger beneath the rabbit’s fur.’

“Xiyue, you… you calm down.”

“I didn’t do anything to her.”

“*Cough*… My… my apologies, I lost my composure.”

“Why have you come to see me?”

With those words, Ouyang Xiyue slowly lowered his hand, stepping away from Chi Congyu.

Standing before Chi Congyu, Ouyang Xiyue suddenly appeared a head shorter than her.

It was then that Chi Congyu realized, ‘Huh, how did Xiyue manage to loom over me just now, pinning me against the wall?’

‘Even if he stood on tiptoes, he wouldn’t be tall enough.’

‘No wonder I faintly sensed someone activating magic earlier.’

‘So this guy was using magic to float in the air.’

‘Quite clever, indeed.’

‘He truly lives up to my expectations.’

“I didn’t really come for anything specific.”

“It’s just that you made me wait too long, so I got bored and…”

“You waited too long? Couldn’t you have called me?”

“Didn’t I give you my number?”

“Even if you waited a long time, that doesn’t give you the right to flirt with my Yun’er!”

“You are utterly disrespectful; you need to mind your manners, understand?”

“I might be a bit irritable these past two days, so just get used to it.”

Ouyang Xiyue said, struggling to suppress the fury in his heart.

Chi Congyu, standing nearby, found herself unable to speak of her grievances.

“No, I really didn’t…”

“I just wanted to tease her a little, who knew you’d come back and catch me the moment I did…”

“I truly didn’t do anything to her; I swear to the gods.”

As Chi Congyu spoke, she raised three fingers.

“Alright, alright, I believe you.”

“Just be more careful in the future.”

Ouyang Xiyue said with a hint of impatience.

“Xiyue… your reaction… are you… are you on your period…?”

“You need to take care of your body; it would be terrible if your cycle got messed up.”

Chi Congyu said quietly and earnestly.

“Get lost!”

“*You’re* on your period, your whole family is on their period!”

“My cycle is perfectly fine; you don’t need to worry about me.”

Ouyang Xiyue cursed, his voice erupting, for he was a boy! A boy! How could a boy have a period? What kind of joke was that!

“Oh, alright, don’t react so strongly.”

“Actually, I did have something to talk to you about…”
