Chapter 54: We’re Bound Together!

Things were as bad as expected.

While Xiyue was in the city, she’d indeed picked up a new blood s*ave.

Loving the new, discarding the old was most vampires’ nature.

Unchangeable.

Xiyue had abandoned countless blood slaves before.

Xiaan was just one of many, nothing special.

Her fate would likely mirror theirs—left to rot in the wild or swarmed by castle vampires, drained dry.

Even so, Xiaan wanted to fight.

She didn’t want to die so pathetically, with no one to even collect her body.

After much thought, the only person she could turn to was Luoyao.

After Xiaan’s brief explanation, Luoyao fell silent.

She didn’t know how to comfort her.

Xiaan’s emotions suggested she wasn’t entirely ready to let go of Xiyue.

Or rather, she wasn’t willing to be cast aside so easily.

If Xiaan had feelings for her master, Luoyao could understand.

Vampires’ allure was undeniable.

A month of close physical intimacy could spark emotions.

But awkwardly, Xiyue didn’t feel the same.

She was the classic vampire type—enjoying the body, not the heart.

Savoring your blood, whispering sweet nothings…

But never loving you.

Faced with such a cold Xiyue, what could Xiaan do but feel unwilling?

Luoyao sighed softly, pulling a tissue from the coffee table.

She handed it to Xiaan.

Xiaan took it, wiping her eyes. “The castle vampires saw Xiyue return with a new s*ave. They knew what was up. On my way here, so many were eyeing me, ready to pounce…”

Xiaan wasn’t exaggerating.

If she’d walked slower or shown fear, those vampires would’ve swarmed.

In minutes, she’d be drained, left as a bloodless corpse, bitten raw, tossed into the trash the next day.

“It’s okay, you’re safe here. No one dares barge into Noah’s place to snatch someone. Right, Noah?”

Noah lounged on a nearby sofa, playing Snake on her phone.

She raised a hand. “One comes, I’ll knock ‘em out, easy!”

Her eyes stayed glued to the screen, but her words carried an odd reassurance.

Luoyao smiled, turning back to Xiaan. “You can stay here for now. Once you’re stronger, I’ll have Noah take you back to the city. How’s that?”

Xiaan twisted the tissue, biting her lip, hesitant. “Honestly, Luoyao… I don’t think I can return to human society.”

She tucked her hair back, speaking slowly. “After so long in the castle, things I couldn’t accept became normal. My body and mind… Xiyue broke them down. Someone like me… I’d struggle to survive out there.”

Luoyao understood completely.

She’d once wondered if abandoned blood slaves could readjust to human life.

She never found an answer, so she let it go.

Now, the question was real, staring her in the face.

How could she help Xiaan?

“Easy fix,” Noah said.

“Like I suggested before, find Xiaan a new master.”

Noah finished a round of Snake, setting her phone aside.

She joined the conversation. “Huangwei’s single—er, I mean, she’s never had a blood s*ave. She’s loyal, doesn’t mess around. Worst case, if she ditches you, she’ll sort out your future.

No leaving you like a stray kitten begging for a home. How’s that sound?”

For some reason, Luoyao felt this wasn’t about solving Xiaan’s survival.

It was like… setting her up on a date.

Oddly amusing.

“Huangwei? She’s great, but… She mentioned in class why she doesn’t keep blood slaves.”

Noah raised an eyebrow. “Why? News to me.”

“She needs a lot of blood. Even a healthy human wouldn’t last a week. So she avoids blood slaves, hits the blood bank when hungry, or hunts in the city sometimes.”

Noah whistled. “Wow, thought she was all pure and restrained…”

Luoyao facepalmed.

Huangwei saw Noah as a good friend, hiding her “puppy love” from Yelan.

Yet Noah called her a jerk behind her back and didn’t even know why she avoided slaves.

What kind of friend was she? Get it together!

“Um… I probably couldn’t handle her appetite. So, maybe not.”

Xiaan lowered her head, pausing.

She looked up at Noah, eyes complex.

Luoyao sensed something off…

“Hey, hey, don’t get ideas about her! We’re… we’re…”

Luoyao flailed, stammering, finally blurting, “We’re bound together!”

“You find someone else, someone else!”

Xiaan gave a bitter smile, shaking her head. “Don’t worry… I wouldn’t dream of claiming someone as amazing as Noah. She’s yours. I just… need her help.

If possible, could she find me a suitable master?”

She paused, quickly adding, “But if it’s too much trouble, I’ll figure it out myself. Tch, a human girl like you can’t even survive here. Find a master to protect you? Dream on.”

Noah was blunt but softened. “It’s no trouble. I’ll help you find one. Until then, stay here, like Luoyao said.”

“Really? Thank you, Lady Noah!”

Noah frowned. “Don’t call me ‘Lady.’ Sounds weird.”

“Okay, Noah—er, Sister Noah.”

“Pfft, I’m old enough to be your grandma, not sister.”

Noah stood, slipping into Miffy rabbit slippers matching Luoyao’s.

She headed to the bedroom, waving back. “I’ll leave you to your girl talk. Luoyao, don’t chat too long. Rest.”

“Got it. Sleep first.”

Noah softly closed the bedroom door.

Luoyao and Xiaan were left in the living room.

After a silence, Xiaan sighed. “Luoyao, you and your master… You’re so close.”

Her tone dripped with envy.

Luoyao paused, then asked, “Xiaan, do you… have feelings for Xiyue?”

“Feelings? Not quite. Before I was taken, I had two girlfriends. I know what real love feels like. or Xiyue… it’s more like I’m not ready to be tossed aside.”

“I see…”

“Enough about me. Your turn.”

“Hm? What do you wanna hear?”

Xiaan thought, then asked, “Does Sister Noah… you know, after feeding?”

Luoyao’s mouth twitched. “Starting with something that personal?”

“Hey, it’s girl talk, gotta be juicy~”

Luoyao’s eyes dropped, giving a soft hum.

“Hah, all vampires are the same, huh.”

All vampires… the same?

Luoyao glanced at the bedroom door.

Warm light spilled through the crack.

The person inside was probably in bed, waiting to cuddle.

Luoyao smiled faintly.

Vampires weren’t all the same.

Noah was the best, the absolute best vampire in the world.
