Back in the dorm, Su Cheng was physically and mentally exhausted.
“Ah, it’s so hot.”
The air conditioning in the dorm made Su Cheng feel much more comfortable.
“Yo, the big star is back.”
Chen Xi walked out from the balcony, teasing Su Cheng.
Su Cheng turned her head and gave Chen Xi a direct eye-roll.
“How am I a big star? It’s not like I wasn’t coming back.”
Sun Xiaochen was sitting on her bed, poking her head out to look at Su Cheng.
“You don’t know yet? The school forum is exploding, and you’re the headline.”
Su Cheng was utterly confused by her two roommates, pointing at herself and asking.
“Me? What does it have to do with me? I’m a good person, a very, very good person. How did I become the headline?”
“Don’t talk so much, just open the school forum and see for yourself.”
Chen Xi urged Su Cheng, and Su Cheng, disturbed by their words, pulled out her phone to take a look.
Xihua University Forum Headline: [Holy moly~ Our campus belle and the new white-haired junior are sticking together!]
This thread already had over two hundred comments, posted half an hour ago.
The poster’s ID was ‘I fancy pink and white hair’.
“What is this nonsense? What does this ‘I fancy pink and white hair’ mean? Hype? Huh?”
Su Cheng put down her phone with great displeasure, almost slamming it on the table.
If she knew who posted it, she would have to string them up and hang them at the school gate to dry into jerky.
Chen Xi saw her reaction was so strong and said, “The title alone makes you like this, imagine if you read the comments, you’d die of anger.”
“Hmph, you two better not add fuel to the fire with comments below, or I’ll definitely kick both of you out.”
Su Cheng’s puffed-up look made both of them snicker.
“No, no, we’re not that idle, just purely watching the show,” Sun Xiaochen explained.
Chen Xi stealthily moved to her own seat; although she hadn’t commented anything, she still kept her distance from Su Cheng to avoid being affected.
Su Cheng clicked on the post and instantly saw Yin Xuelian seemingly embracing her, but at that time they were just adding each other as friends. The person who secretly took the photo used some kind of spatial distortion to make it look like they were hugging.
“You’re messing with me! Damn it!”
Su Cheng was so angry she could only pound the table, but her delicate hands couldn’t withstand such abuse. Her painfully throbbing hand forced her to calm down.
Su Cheng knew this must have been a setup.
She continued reading.
1L Comment: Sofa… My pink-haired idol is hooking up with a white-haired one.
2L Comment: Is this real? The aloof campus belle actually made the first move? And it’s yuri?!
3L Comment: Wow, this is going to keep so many guys awake all night, what a shame, tsk tsk…
4L Comment: What’s the use of saying so much? The campus belle won’t even look at you.
5L Comment: Goddess! My goddess! Have you really fallen for someone else? OMG!
6L Comment: Alright, starting today, I’m shipping Pink and White. Wahahaha.
…
Su Cheng didn’t want to read any further; there were all kinds of comments.
Su Cheng, on the table, felt like life wasn’t worth living.
She hadn’t wanted to be involved with Yin Xuelian, but now they were a hot topic on the forum, and there was that damned candid photo; if the angle had been slightly off, it wouldn’t have looked like this.
Alas, suddenly, she felt that rebirth was exhausting.
But life still had to go on.
Su Cheng weakly climbed onto her bed, pulled up her small blanket, and felt a sense of security only when her delicate body was hidden beneath the covers.
“Yo, what’s wrong? Why are you in bed?”
Sun Xiaochen was the first to ask.
“I’m being cyberbullied, I want to escape this world, don’t wake me up.”
“What if there’s an earthquake?” Chen Xi joked.
“Then let me sleep here forever…”
Seeing Su Cheng’s listless appearance, Sun Xiaochen and Chen Xi stopped teasing her.
Su Cheng had also lost her temper.
‘Why do other people who are reborn have systems or superpowers?’
‘Why does she have nothing when she’s reborn?’
‘Even if that’s the case, she’s lost her happiness.’
Now she was on the forum’s headline with an ex-girlfriend, making an unavoidable round of public scrutiny.
She only wanted to stay as far away from them as possible, but so far, she hadn’t achieved one bit of it.
Whether it was Lin Shiyue or Yin Xuelian, she hadn’t escaped either of them.
Alas, instead of overthinking, it was more important to sleep.
Su Cheng, in a bad mood, drifted off to sleep with dissatisfaction.
In the evening, Su Cheng was woken up by her two good roommates to go eat together.
Su Cheng simply washed her face, put on her slippers, and set off with them towards the cafeteria.
“It’s the white-haired one!”
“Wow, it really is! Is that the one from the forum?”
“I think it’s her, she looks a lot like her.”
“But, is she really that thin in the photo?”
Someone, she didn’t know who, suddenly shouted “white-haired,” and immediately many passersby’s gazes focused on Su Cheng, with discussions arising.
Su Cheng was like a cat soundly sleeping by the roadside that suddenly got kicked; she shivered violently, then slid behind Sun Xiaochen, who was taller than her.
Sun Xiaochen looked at the wary little cat behind her, teasing, “Little kitty, why are you hiding behind me?”
Su Cheng stammered, “You, you go quickly, don’t ask so much, haven’t you noticed a lot of people are looking at me?”
“Don’t be scared, don’t be scared, smooch, smooch, smooch, come to big sister.”
Su Cheng immediately gave Chen Xi an eye-roll and a small pink fist, pulling Chen Xi’s arm to push her forward.
“Are you really treating me like a cat? Get lost! You go to the front and block me too.”
And so, Su Cheng had two human shields in front of her, concealing her figure until they reached the cafeteria.
It was true that the more famous you were, the more trouble you had. While getting food, Su Cheng heard many people discussing her again.
The good thing was that the photo on the post didn’t capture her full face; aside from her white hair being a distinctive feature, there was no other series that could definitively prove it was her.
This was the only escape Su Cheng had for herself.
But Su Cheng knew that if she ran into Yin Xuelian again, it would really be hard to explain.
She hoped not to encounter Yin Xuelian in public today.
The three found a quiet corner to eat, not easily discovered by passersby, especially since Su Cheng was currently a prominent figure in the limelight.
“Oh, right, later at 7:30 PM, we have a class meeting at Main Teaching Building 301, and we’ll also be distributing supplies.”
Chen Xi finished speaking, putting down her chopsticks.
“Huh? W-what… another class meeting…”
Su Cheng was still eating, her words unclear.
“Military training starts tomorrow. It’ll probably just be a rehash of the military training (things to note), then we’ll get our camouflage uniforms and be dismissed.”
Sun Xiaochen nodded, her thoughts aligning with Chen Xi’s.
Su Cheng said with a hint of hope, “If it’s really like that, that’d be great.”
After dinner, there were forty minutes left until the evening class meeting.
Sun Xiaochen and Chen Xi decided to go back to the dorm to rest for a bit before going, but Su Cheng didn’t want to return. She decided to take a walk to digest her food while there weren’t many people around.
She arrived at the Xihua Artificial Lake, where the evening breeze gently blew, lifting her snow-like hair and carrying away her fatigue.
Leaning against the railing, Su Cheng took out her phone to capture the beautiful scenery.
“Little Orange!”
“Plop!”
“Ah! My phone!”
