Chapter 6: Western Peninsula Kingdom

The Western Peninsula Kingdom was originally the ruler over the Coastal Long Kingdom.

As the king increasingly indulged in pleasure and luxury, it became the gravest fault of the Barkley royal family.

Marvin Barkley V pushed indulgence to the extreme, never attending court.

The court could not see him for days.

Later, it was learned that Barkley demanded that all future political meetings be held in his bedroom.

No minister dared to enter his chambers.

Then Barkley declared: “Whoever enters my room first will receive higher salary and promotion.”

A minister named Juan Toscana stepped forward and entered.

Immediately after, Barkley accused him of “entering the royal chamber without authorization,” interpreting it as “attempting to assassinate the king,” using him as a warning to all.

From then on, all court discussion was shouted from outside the doors.

If the king did not appear within five minutes, it meant rejection.

Juan Toscana was executed and paraded in the streets.

Children were forbidden to go outside.

Later generations established a memorial day: Juan Toscana Memorial Day.

This holiday is extremely similar to the Qiuma Jila Memorial Day, but children after later generations were allowed to play in the streets.

This occurred after the split of the Coastal Long Kingdom.

Although the Coastal Long people also grieved for Juan’s death, they did not establish a holiday.

Juan Memorial Day grants one day of national rest, and later generations understood his righteousness.

Marvin Barkley V was placed on the blacklist of the most wicked rulers in Western Peninsula history.

Tyrannical indulgence is unacceptable.

Playing with people’s lives is unacceptable.

Disregarding human life is unacceptable.

If even one of these three unforgivable acts is committed, the nation is doomed.
