Chapter 62: The Magical Girl Fan Club and a Fateful Encounter

“So that’s it,” she mused. “I’ve always been a homebody—er, no, I’ve always been collecting Magical Girl merchandise and news by myself, completely unaware such an organization existed.”

Teresa gazed at the webpage, emblazoned with the nine large characters spelling out “Magical Girl Fan Club,” feeling both astonished and annoyed that she hadn’t discovered it sooner.

After recovering from that peculiar ‘translationese’ mode, Teresa learned from Bai Li about the Magical Girl Fan Club, an organization spontaneously formed by civilian Magical Girl enthusiasts.

Compared to an individual, this organization was practically an encyclopedia of Magical Girls. Owing to its numerous members spread across various locations, its knowledge of every Magical Girl was consistently up-to-date and comprehensive.

Even Lin Xi, who had only just become a Weichangzhe, her reputation yet to be established, and having fought an Otherworld Beast only once, was immediately registered in the Magical Girl Encyclopedia, a testament to their efficiency and capability.

That said, over ninety percent of the information within had been penned by Bai Li, their number one fan.

Incidentally, Bai Li herself was also registered immediately.

“My goodness, not only are there many Magical Girls I don’t recognize, but even those I do know have information I wasn’t aware of.”

Teresa rapidly scrolled through the Fan Club’s website, which meticulously detailed each Magical Girl’s Awakened name, attire, combat style, and history, with a level of precision that rivaled official records.

Of course, anything inconvenient for public disclosure was absent, as they maintained a clear understanding of boundaries in this regard.

“The Fan Club has gathering places in various cities, and Yegong City is one of them. Many Magical Girls have also joined this club, so if you’re lucky, you might even see some at a regular meeting.”

Magical Girls were something beloved by people of all ages and genders, including Magical Girls themselves. Whether it was an effect of becoming a Magical Girl or an inherent factor, the proportion of `tong` (TL Note: A Chinese slang term, ‘tóng,’ referring to lesbians) among Magical Girls was extraordinarily high, so much so that if one wasn’t a `tong`, people would question whether they were truly a Magical Girl.

As for how they would produce offspring in such a scenario, with many years of scientific and supernatural advancements—powers that even current science struggled to explain—would same-s*x reproduction truly be an issue?

Not only same-s*x, but even asexual reproduction, incest, or cross-species breeding presented no problems. Of course, constrained by current societal norms, the latter two were not common occurrences; surprisingly, cross-species unions were somewhat more prevalent, a fact both bizarre and subtly logical, given that a minuscule number of individuals were indeed human-Otherworld Beast hybrids.

“Really? Then as soon as I get to the city and enroll, I’ll have to quickly go and complete the joining procedures.”

Hearing Bai Li’s words, Teresa instantly grew excited. Not for any other reason, but simply to see Magical Girls up close; if she could get to know them, all the better.

“Speaking of enrollment, Little Teresa, which university are you attending? We haven’t heard yet.”

However, this question seemed almost unnecessary. After all, would someone so fond of Magical Girls attend any school in Yegong City other than *that* university?

“Need you ask? Aixi University, of course.”

“That’s right. Then we’ll be classmates.”

With that, Lin Xi extended her hand to Teresa, just as Teresa had done to her earlier.

“Mm, please take care of me…?”

Teresa grasped Lin Xi’s hand, though the expression on her face seemed a bit strange, and her grip was a little firmer than during their first handshake.

Unbeknownst to Lin Xi, Teresa’s heart was blooming with excitement at that moment.

She had always stayed in her room, mostly tutored at home, only occasionally attending school. Although she had an older sister who cared for her, her sister was often away for work, so her only pastime was watching Magical Girls.

She had initially believed her awakened ability would be similar to her sister’s, but unexpectedly, she had coincidentally awakened as a Magical Girl. Overjoyed, she had then transferred here, even fortunately encountering a Magical Girl classmate who was no longer a student but already engaged in battles.

Even a novel wouldn’t dare to write such a plot!

“Alright, Xiao Bai, you too.”

After releasing Teresa’s hand, Lin Xi gently pushed Bai Li forward to stand before Teresa.

The blonde twin-tailed girl and the white-haired, red-eyed girl looked at each other. As the former was of normal height, slightly taller than the latter, Bai Li had to tilt her head slightly to look at Teresa.

“Come on, shake hands.”

Lin Xi moved behind Bai Li, took her right hand, and helped her into a handshake pose.

It looked like an older sister instructing her socially awkward younger sibling on how to greet someone, but for some reason, it sounded more like training a puppy to shake paws.

‘Ah, how could that be? It must be a misconception. How could Lin Xi be that kind of person?’

“Um, Bai Li, please take care of me…”

The moment Teresa’s hand met Bai Li’s, a suffocating pressure, as if enveloped by darkness, swept over her entire body.

For some inexplicable reason, looking into Bai Li’s eyes made her feel as though she was being targeted by some terrifying entity, and even the ambient temperature seemed to drop by several degrees.

“…You’re sweating.”

“Ah… my apologies.”

Prompted by Bai Li, Teresa immediately withdrew her hand.

That feeling, as if a mere illusion, vanished instantly, leaving no trace, yet in that brief moment, her palms had broken out in a cold sweat.

Teresa glanced at Bai Li; her perfectly symmetrical and delicate face remained devoid of expression, marking her as a quintessential white-haired, red-eyed ‘Sanwu Girl’ (TL Note: A Japanese anime trope referring to a character who is emotionless, voiceless, and expressionless).

Even Teresa, who hailed from another continent and had met numerous beauties, including celebrities and nobles, was momentarily captivated by Bai Li’s beauty and aura.

While adorable, she wasn’t pitiable; instead, she inspired an unconscious sense of respectful distance. Her aura was entirely different from Lin Xi’s, almost unfitting for a Magical Girl, best described as an enchanting, almost demonic allure.

“Teresa?”

“Ah, what is it?”

Lin Xi’s sudden voice brought Teresa back to reality.

Lin Xi was smiling now, but her expression seemed a little different as well.

It was as if… she were angry…

[Please be advised, this train will soon be arriving at its destination. Passengers are requested to return to their seats, gather their belongings, and prepare to disembark, ensuring no personal items are left behind.]

Suddenly, the train’s announcement blared, allowing Teresa to escape the frozen atmosphere.

“Well… I’ll be going then! I still need to pack my luggage!”

Uttering this, Teresa quickly fled, taking two steps at a time. Her direction, however, was opposite to where Lin Xi and her companions had come from; or rather, she was heading towards the first-class cabin.
