Chapter 63: Yushi Wants Academic Exchange

“Hospital services just diagnose you and push blood therapy.”

Yushi, despite being a doctor, spoke casually.

“No big deal if I’m not there, right?”

Her lack of doctorly ethics was striking.

But if every case ended in blood therapy, maybe a doctor’s consult delayed treatment?

The elf scoffed.

“Where’s that guy who swore to curb blood therapy with traditional methods?”

“Dead.”

Yushi stretched her words playfully.

“Let’s drop that. I’ve got two little patients who need your help.”

Na Naya corrected her.

“Just one.”

Yushi ignored her, introducing the elf.

“This is Lin You, a high elf who solves any problem. Owner of the Everything Shop. A legend.”

Lin You clutched her face, exasperated.

“I’m just a secondhand dealer. Not some wish-granting machine.”

“What’s a high elf? Are elves that specific?”

Yushi wagged a finger.

“Doesn’t matter. You can fix their issue and make money. That’s what counts.”

“Fine, it’s about profit…”

Lin You muttered, turning to the pair.

“So, what do you want? Some special treasure?”

Despite doubts, Meng Linna trusted Yushi.

“Do you have anything to cure vampirism?”

“Vampirism?”

Lin You glanced at Yushi, skeptical.

“Probably not. This isn’t a pharmacy.”

“No!”

Yushi shook her head.

“Think harder. Any interesting news lately?”

“No new stock…”

Lin You paused, then slammed the table.

“Oh, you mean that?”

She sat back.

“But even if that can cure vampirism, I don’t have it.”

Meng Linna, confused, cut in.

“What’s that?”

“It’s a special material. Called a Living Heart. It keeps beating after being removed. Used for rare medicines.”

Lin You glanced at Yushi.

“So, you can make a vampirism cure with it?”

Yushi nodded.

“Exactly. You got any?”

“Told you, none left.”

Lin You waved dismissively, slumping into her chair.

“No business today. Might as well close and watch Cologne.” (TN: Seems like Cologne is some kind of sports played in this word)

“Don’t rush.”

Yushi pressed.

“Your favorite green team’s out. Cologne’s no fun now, right?”

Lin You ignored the jab, looking annoyed.

“That stuff’s a hassle.”

“You sure?”

Meng Linna interrupted.

“What’s this ‘news’ you mentioned?”

Lin You eyed Meng Linna, then Yushi.

“She didn’t tell you anything. Typical, since she’s a doctor.”

Yushi smiled.

“Then let the clever Lady Lin You explain.”

Lin You sighed but spoke.

“The Living Heart is a mystical catalyst. From Eastern demon hunters. Made from vampire hearts using secret techniques. Keeps them beating outside the body.”

Na Naya frowned.

“That can really be a medicine base?”

Lin You shrugged.

“Doc says it’s fine.”

Yushi nodded.

“No problem.”

Meng Linna hesitated.

“Even if it’s real, you don’t have it.”

Lin You crossed her arms, smirking slyly.

“Simple. This traditional-medicine fan sneaked some Eastern secrets. Just hunt a vampire. Easy for you, right?”

Na Naya rejected it.

“No way that’s easy. We’re monster hunters, not vampire slayers.”

Meng Linna agreed.

“Yeah.”

Yushi looked regretful.

“Then I’ll just check the morgue now and then. Maybe a vampire’ll get mistaken for a corpse.”

Yushi’s literary look hid such unethical words.

Meng Linna wiped sweat.

“Guess we wait for that chance.”

“Fine!”

Yushi dragged out her words, feigning boredom.

“But you two got nothing going today, right?”

It was nearly ten.

No missions left at the guild.

Yushi wasn’t wrong.

Meng Linna nodded.

“What’re you getting at?”

Yushi paced the shop.

“I’m a clinic doctor. But my looks make people think I’m all theory, no practice.”

She did seem that way.

Meng Linna kept quiet.

“So?”

“So I want to focus on practice. Do some academic exchange. But the place isn’t safe. I need reliable adventurers.”

Yushi stopped before them.

‘Academic exchange isn’t still theory?’

Meng Linna swallowed her retort.

“You want to hire us as bodyguards?”

Yushi smiled.

“You could say that.”
