“So you just agreed to her?”
As Yushi packed, Na Naya questioned her teammate.
“You didn’t say no either.”
Meng Linna scratched her nose.
“Besides, we’ve got nothing else today. Might as well go with her. Maybe earn some coins.”
Ten gold coins just for bodyguard work?
Too sweet to pass up.
“…”
Na Naya stared at the blonde, speechless.
Despite their height gap, Meng Linna always crouched slightly to meet Na Naya’s eyes.
Noticing Na Naya’s annoyance, Meng Linna hurried to add.
“Of course, if you’re upset, we can ditch her. Plenty of people flake.”
Na Naya sighed, giving in.
“Fine, we agreed, so let’s do it. Just… check with me first next time.”
Mission choices needed team discussion.
Why skip her on this random gig?
Her words hit Meng Linna differently.
Meng Linna’s cheeks flushed.
“No need to check with you on everything, right?”
The evil fire god joined in Na Naya’s mind.
[“Yeah, what, you her wife or something?”]
Realizing her words sounded off, Na Naya’s face reddened.
“As if I’d need to approve everything! I’m not your nanny! Obviously, I meant adventuring stuff!”
“Oh, uh!”
Meng Linna stammered, nodding.
Silence fell.
Yushi came down, geared up.
Seeing their flushed faces and averted gazes, the doctor teased.
“Couple’s spat? All because of gorgeous me?”
“What nonsense!”
“Too full of yourself!”
““We’re not a couple!””
Both snapped back in unison.
Yushi raised her hands in surrender.
“Just kidding. You two good?”
““No problem.””
They answered together.
Yushi wanted to tease more but held back.
Didn’t want the job to collapse before starting.
She shook her bag.
“Ready to go?”
***
In the black market, a bookish girl with a bag stood out.
Yushi seemed like an upper-district lady, fit for fancy carriages.
Not this chaotic trading pit.
Yet no one dared mess with her.
Some even steered clear.
Her two bodyguards weren’t ordinary.
Not famous adventurers, but Na Naya’s Crushing Giant Hammer looked insanely heavy.
She carried it like nothing.
Anyone crossing them might get smashed flat.
Yushi marched with purpose, like she was out for trouble.
Some prayed she was targeting their rivals.
After half a day, they stopped at a stall.
“Small business. What do you want?”
The vendor’s calm face hid a shaky voice.
Meng Linna scanned the stall.
Just seasonal veggies—fresh peanuts, bitter melons, loofahs.
Nothing special.
Was Yushi’s “academic exchange” about farming lessons?
But Yushi wasn’t here for produce.
She crouched, smiling softly.
“I want ‘that’ stuff. Got any?”
“You want ‘that’?”
Relieved it was a sale, the vendor eased up.
“Sure, how many bottles?”
Yushi smiled.
“Not just a few. I want a ton. Take me to your supplier.”
“No way!”
The vendor refused.
“We’ve got ethics. Can’t spill on our dealer!”
Yushi didn’t care.
She grabbed the vendor’s collar, lifting them.
“Think I’m easy to brush off?”
“No, no!”
The vendor glimpsed Na Naya’s hammer.
Courage vanished.
“I’ll take you!”
“That’s better.”
Yushi dropped them, kicking their rear.
“Move.”
“Yes!”
***
The vendor led them to a heavily guarded warehouse.
Before they got close, a guard yelled.
“Hey, it’s not your pickup day! Who said you could come?”
Meng Linna and Na Naya exchanged looks.
This felt like a mob movie.
“I just…”
The vendor scrambled for an excuse.
Yushi kicked them aside.
“Listen. I don’t care about your rules. I want your boss.”
Facing a scholarly girl, the guard hesitated.
“Miss, I don’t know what’s wrong with you. But a friendly tip—this ain’t your place. Leave.”
Yushi ignored him, advancing.
“I’m here for this. Call your boss.”
The guard ignored her.
“Enough! Stop! Last warning. Keep moving, and I won’t be nice!”
Tension spiked.
Meng Linna gripped her Crystal Holy Bell.
If a fight broke out, she’d nail the front guard with a lightning spear in ten seconds.
Na Naya pulled out her Crushing Giant Hammer, backing Yushi.
“So naughty!”
Yushi swung her bag’s chain like a meteor hammer, hurling it at the guard.
