Chapter 65: Miao Miao Niya’s Goods Aren’t Pure Enough

“You’re the boss here?”

After knocking out the last guard with her bag-turned-meteor hammer, Yushi faced the dealer.

The man didn’t panic.

He sat calmly, lighting a cigarette.

“Yep. Looks like the day’s come.”

“No smoking!”

Yushi swung her bag, slicing off the cigarette’s tip.

“Not even granting a dying man’s last wish?”

The man smiled, tossing the half-cigarette aside.

“No mercy for losers, huh? Give me a quick end.”

“No.”

Yushi shook her head.

“You’ve got it wrong. I’m here for your ‘stuff’”

“As expected, you’re after that too. We’re all the same.”

The man grinned, pointing to the warehouse.

“All our goods are there. Take what you want. Don’t expect this old man to help you carry it.”

What were these “goods”?

Meng Linna didn’t dare dwell on it.

Yushi’s face held a cold smile.

She spoke slowly.

“Don’t play tricks. Open the door. Lead us in.”

The man opened his mouth, but Yushi’s bag spun in the air, far from friendly.

“No choice, huh.”

He stood, pulling keys from his pocket, unlocking the warehouse.

“This is our stash. The whole black market’s supply comes from here. Close this door, and the market’s dry. Any vendor who breaks our rules? We deal with them.”

“So you’re proud of that?”

Yushi shoved him.

“Open that box. I want to see the goods.”

The man complied, lifting the box’s corner.

Meng Linna and Na Naya, standing back, couldn’t see clearly.

“All this secrecy? Such a hassle.”

Yushi stepped forward, grabbing a bag from the box.

She toyed with it, sniffing it.

The man rubbed his hands, chuckling.

“Well? I guarantee, no purer goods in the black market!”

“Mediocre.”

Yushi tossed it back.

“Not pure enough. Lacks punch.”

Their talk of “goods” and “purity” made the bodyguard duo sweat.

Was this about dru…?

They exchanged glances.

Meng Linna: “This feels like something we shouldn’t touch. Maybe we should bail?”

Na Naya: “Hold on. We’re probably fine. Let’s gather evidence first.”

No telepathy needed—they understood each other.

“Like I said, this is our purest stuff!”

The man argued as they exchanged looks.

“Not pure enough.”

Yushi shook her head, scanning around.

“Show me your lab. If I see it, I’ll know what’s up.”

The man stepped back.

“Sorry, I’m just a dealer. R&D’s not my thing.”

“Fair.”

Yushi nodded.

“Then show me your production line.”

He shook his head again.

“Told you, I’m just a dealer. Goods come from the Snakehead.”

Yushi laughed, exasperated but calm.

“Tell me about this Snakehead.”

The dealer, not daring to lie, spilled.

“Snakehead’s with the Adventurer’s Guild. She handles production and R&D. I just get goods from her.”

“That’s it. Does Snakehead have purer stuff?”

The dealer answered fast.

“Definitely! Our market stuff isn’t the purest. Snakehead’s got dealers, but she keeps the best.”

“Then take us to her!”

Yushi’s tone left no room for refusal.

***

Back at the Adventurer’s Guild hall, it was nearly noon.

Almost empty.

Meng Linna felt uneasy.

The guild, involved in such dirty dealings?

Yushi flipped through a ledger as they walked.

“Your turnover’s pretty high.”

The dealer answered honestly.

“It sells well. Once people try it, they’re hooked. High demand.”

Yushi sneered.

“Lucky for you, the higher-ups haven’t noticed.”

Further in, a familiar catgirl stood at the counter.

“Snakehead, I’m sorry! She insisted on seeing you!”

The dealer tried approaching Miao Miao Niya but got kicked away.

Miao Miao Niya, the Snakehead?

Meng Linna tensed.

The guild’s poster girl doing this?

Was there a bigger mastermind?

Meng Linna wanted to call the authorities.

“You’re looking for me?”

Miao Miao Niya crossed her arms, eyeing Yushi warily.

“Yep.”

Yushi owned it.

“Your goods come from her, right? I want to see your process. And if you’ve got purer stuff.”

“What?”

Miao Miao Niya scoffed.

“Why should I show you?”

Such a rude demand.

Even a money-grubbing catgirl like her wouldn’t budge.

Nor would most people.

Yushi sat on the counter, confident.

“You know who I am?”

Miao Miao Niya glanced at her, reluctant.

“Yushi, daughter of Yanan’s top hospital director.”

“Since you know.”

Yushi smiled.

“You realize, if I want, a whisper to the higher-ups could end your little business?”

“Fine.”

Miao Miao Niya nodded grudgingly.

“Follow me.”

Trailing them, Meng Linna lost count of her shocks.

Miao Miao Niya using guild resources for profit wasn’t surprising.

But Yushi wanting in?

Daughter of the hospital director.

A guild bigshot.

Two of Yanan’s most powerful groups’ elites, tangled in this.

Meng Linna’s head throbbed.
