“I’ll send you the formal contract later. Here’s to a happy partnership!”
“Sure.”
Meng Linna nodded reluctantly, watching Yushi leave.
No choice.
If she didn’t comply, she might get arrested for practicing medicine without a license.
For her own safety, she had to agree.
Plus, Yushi wasn’t stingy.
Over a hundred gold coins monthly in licensing fees wasn’t bad.
With the big shot gone, everyone exhaled.
Crisis averted.
Time to deal with the traitor.
Meng Linna glared at Miao Miao Niya.
“You greedy cat!”
“Dumping the blame on me?”
Miao Miao Niya sweated, bean-faced.
“Give me a break, meow. Who brought the wolf in? You’re trailing her like a lackey, yet you pin the pot on me?”
She wasn’t wrong.
Meng Linna shook her head fiercely.
“No way! I just took a simple job. But you, spouting nonsense! Me, a Snakehead? I’m not part of your dirty deals!”
“No way! You nodded when the money came. Now trouble hits, and you dodge? No such luck, meow! My mass-production tech came from you!”
True.
Meng Linna had taken her money.
She didn’t expect Miao Miao Niya’s business to get this big.
‘Should’ve charged more last month.’
Realizing she’d been paid, Meng Linna’s bravado faltered.
She put on a fierce act.
“Double the royalties next month!”
Then she grabbed Na Naya and left the guild.
Miao Miao Niya smirked.
Even doubled, royalties were nothing.
Thanks to Marigold Potions, her empire was thriving.

Outside, under the blazing sun, the two felt the heat.
Meng Linna wanted a drink at the guild’s bar.
But it was under renovation, apparently sold off for a remodel.
Weird.
What’s more profitable than a bar at the guild?
“Enough already?”
Na Naya’s annoyed voice snapped Meng Linna back.
She was still gripping Na Naya’s wrist.
“Sorry!”
Meng Linna let go.
Na Naya’s wrist was so thin.
Despite being an adult, her loli frame looked frail.
‘Has she been eating properly, living alone?’
As a mature adult, Meng Linna couldn’t help seeing Na Naya as a kid to care for.
A scary kid, though.
Catching Meng Linna’s look, Na Naya squinted.
“What’s that stare? Still treating me like a child?”
“No, no.”
Meng Linna shook her head.
“Just thinking, it’s noon. Let’s eat?”
“Hm?”
Na Naya’s gaze questioned her.
Meng Linna caved instantly.
“If you don’t want to, forget it.”
“No.”
Na Naya sighed.
“We’re teammates. No need to be so scared of me.”
Meng Linna blinked, disbelieving.
“So, we’re eating together?”
“Yeah.”
But now, a universal dilemma.
What to eat?
Old Meng Linna would’ve grabbed a cheap guild meal.
Now, with money earned and medical costs eased by Yushi, she was better off.
Still, guessing Na Naya’s tastes was tricky.
Better ask.
“What do you want for lunch?”
Na Naya’s eyes darted.
“I eat anything. Your call. No preferences.”
Ugh, the dreaded “whatever.”
Meng Linna fumbled.
“Let’s walk and see. If we spot something good, we’ll eat.”
Na Naya didn’t object, humming softly.
Meng Linna walked, pretending to scan for restaurants.
What did Na Naya like?
In her memories, Na Naya, a poor kid sent to the monastery, ate anything.
No food preferences.
During fasting days, Meng Linna snuck her out for meat.
Na Naya didn’t resist.
Maybe she liked meat?
Lost in thought, Meng Linna saw a sign.
“Xiao Li Zi Seafood Steak Buffet—Balkan Shrimp, CIS Sea Cucumber, Premium Donkey Meat, Giant Wine Bottles, All You Can Eat!”
No expectations for the hype.
But a buffet was foolproof.
Everyone grabs what they want.
No worry about preferences.
Meng Linna pointed at the sign.
“How about a buffet?”
“Buffet…”
Na Naya hesitated but agreed.
“No problem.”
With no objections, Meng Linna relaxed her brain cells.
They entered the fancy yellow buffet restaurant.
“Welcome to Li Ge Buffet.”
“Table for two?”
The waiter, a slightly handsome guy, smelled faintly of fish.
“Yep.”
Meng Linna slapped a big silver coin on the counter.
As Na Naya’s senior, she wasn’t letting her pay.
“Ten silver coins total.”
The waiter handed them napkins.
“Two-hour dining time. Enjoy your meal.”
