“My baby, are you asleep?”

The voice was low, slightly breathless, as if she had run over.

Su Cheng didn’t open her eyes or make a sound.
Feeling a little cold, she subconsciously snuggled deeper into her blanket, like a cat drenched by the rain.

She already knew it was Lin Shiyue who had come in.

Lin Shiyue, wearing a slip dress, quietly closed the door, with fine beads of sweat on her forehead.

Without saying much, she first placed the plastic bag she was carrying gently on the desk.
Inside the bag were fever medicine, cooling patches, a thermometer, and a bowl of still-steaming lean meat congee.

Seeing the untouched breakfast left for her on the desk, Lin Shiyue figured that congee would be a better option.

Her movements were very light as she gently took out the thermometer, as if afraid of disturbing something fragile.

Standing by Su Cheng’s bed, she reached out and touched her forehead, her brows immediately knitting together.

“So hot. Chengcheng, let’s take your temperature. Remember to hold it tight, okay?”

Su Cheng just let out a soft “Mm,” her voice as hoarse as sandpaper on glass.

Lin Shiyue tucked the thermometer under Su Cheng’s armpit and then helped her pull the blanket up, leaving only her flushed, feverish face exposed.

But Su Cheng didn’t notice that upon seeing her in this state, Lin Shiyue couldn’t help but lick the corner of her lips.

It was as if a delicious delicacy had been placed right before her.

She fetched a basin of cool water, placed the towel hanging by Su Cheng’s bed in it, and after soaking and wringing it out, gently wiped the beads of sweat from Su Cheng’s forehead.

After drying her off, she applied a cooling patch.

Five minutes later, Lin Shiyue gently lifted Su Cheng’s blanket.

“Chengcheng, time’s up. Let me see.”

“Mm, sorry to trouble you…”

Su Cheng said weakly, her azure eyes open just a crack, gazing feebly at Lin Shiyue.

She took the thermometer from under Su Cheng’s arm and held it up to the light to check the temperature.

“Thirty-nine point six degrees. You have such a high fever.”

Lin Shiyue’s eyes widened in sullen concern as she stared at Su Cheng on the bed.

Su Cheng had been perfectly fine during dinner last night, so how did she get so sick overnight?

“Chengcheng, what on earth were you doing last night?”
Lin Shiyue asked curiously, a hint of displeasure in her puzzled eyes.

She had a feeling Su Cheng’s illness was somehow related to Yin Xuelian.

“Last night, we got caught in the rain on our way back and caught a chill.”

Su Cheng coughed twice, her brows furrowed in discomfort.
“Water…”

Lin Shiyue glanced at Su Cheng’s dry, pale lips and turned to pour a glass of warm water.

“Wake up and sit up. Drink some water.”

Su Cheng coughed again, but this time it was noticeably worse.

Hearing this, Lin Shiyue’s chest tightened.

If Yin Xuelian were here, she would definitely question her thoroughly.

Su Cheng slowly sipped the water from the cup. The moment the warm water soothed her throat, she let out a whimper like a small animal, and her tightly knitted brows relaxed slightly.

Lin Shiyue supported the back of Su Cheng’s neck, helping her slowly drink the entire glass of water.

The moment her fingertips touched her snow-white, burning skin, her heart skipped a beat.

Su Cheng’s long shirt was damp with sweat, hanging weakly like the wings of a rain-soaked butterfly, her entire body leaning limply against Lin Shiyue’s arm.

“Chengcheng,” Lin Shiyue’s voice softened unconsciously, as if afraid to startle Su Cheng. “Don’t you want to eat something? I bought lean meat congee.”

Su Cheng shook her head, a faint sound squeezed from her throat, “I don’t have much of an appetite…”

“No,” Lin Shiyue was uncharacteristically firm, her fingertips gently pinching Su Cheng’s cheek. “You haven’t eaten since this morning, and you exercised for so long. You won’t be able to take it if you keep this up.”

Su Cheng opened her eyes slightly, her blurry gaze falling on Lin Shiyue.

She was wearing a light gray slip dress today. The dazzling sunlight shone through the window into the dorm, making the fine beads of sweat on her collarbones clearly visible.

“Alright then, I’ll eat,” Su Cheng suddenly said, her voice incredibly hoarse.

“That’s more like it. Wait for me.”

Hearing this, Lin Shiyue looked up, met Su Cheng’s gaze, and smiled faintly.

Lin Shiyue got off the bed and carefully brought the congee onto it.

She helped Su Cheng sit up, letting her upper body lean against the headboard, and brushed her bangs aside to get a clear view of her pretty face.

Su Cheng opened her eyes, looked at Lin Shiyue beside her, and parted her lips as if to say something, but ended up coughing instead.

Lin Shiyue quickly put down the bowl and gently patted her back, her brows tightly furrowed. “How about you take some medicine after you eat?”

Su Cheng nodded, watching the busy Lin Shiyue beside her with half-open eyes.

Lin Shiyue scooped up a spoonful of congee, blew on it gently, and brought it to her slightly pale lips.

“Careful, it’s hot.”

“Okay, it shouldn’t be hot anymore.”

Su Cheng gently sipped the congee from the spoon, testing the temperature with her lips first.

The temperature was just right. She began to swallow it in small mouthfuls. The warm congee, with its faint savory aroma, soothed her stomach.

Watching her obediently drink the congee, the corners of Lin Shiyue’s mouth unconsciously curved into a slight smile.

She couldn’t help but remember the time she had a fever in her past life, and Su Cheng had taken care of her just like this.

“Chengcheng,” she suddenly spoke, her voice soft. “Did you get caught in the rain with Yin Xuelian yesterday?”

Su Cheng’s movements paused. She stopped drinking and looked up at her, swallowing hard.

Lin Shiyue’s expression was calm, but her eyes held a trace of a complex emotion that Su Cheng couldn’t decipher.

“Yeah.”

Su Cheng responded in a low voice and coughed a couple more times. “I also took a hot shower at her place last night.”

Lin Shiyue fell silent, merely scooping up another spoonful of congee and bringing it to her lips.

Su Cheng obediently drank it, but felt the atmosphere had become strangely subtle and glanced sideways at Lin Shiyue’s face.

“Shiyue?” she called out tentatively.

Lin Shiyue lowered her head, staring at the congee in the bowl and stirring it continuously. “That’s strange. She didn’t get sick, so why did you?”

She wanted to probe for more details.

Su Cheng blinked, rubbing the back of her head as she answered truthfully, “I… my constitution is weaker. Sister Lian’s body is strong, you know.”

Lin Shiyue nodded knowingly, her eyes filled with deep meaning, as she once again lifted a spoonful of congee to feed Su Cheng.

After a moment of silence, Lin Shiyue suddenly looked at Su Cheng seriously, “Are you still angry with me?”

“No… not anymore,” Su Cheng smiled faintly, wiping a drop of sweat from her cheek.

“That’s good,” Lin Shiyue opened her mouth slightly and took a breath, her expression relaxing a little. “I was worried you were still angry at me.”

“How could I be? By the way, don’t you have to go to military training?” Su Cheng asked, her eyes blinking with curiosity.

Lin Shiyue shook her head slightly, “I’m not going. I made an excuse that I’m on my period and not feeling well, so I took leave.”

“Wait… that works…?”

“Of course. Our instructor is very easy to talk to.”

Su Cheng gave a helpless, dry laugh.

‘You damn instructor, so you just let Lin Shiyue slack off and skip military training like that, huh.’

‘I’ll definitely report you later and get your salary docked.’

“So, are you really on your period?” Su Cheng continued to ask.

Lin Shiyue chuckled twice, “Of course I was lying to the instructor. I took leave just to take care of you, you little dummy.”

“I’m not a dummy,” Su Cheng pouted and muttered under her breath, feeling anxious inside.

‘Who knows what kind of mischief Lin Shiyue will get up to with this opportunity?’

‘Thankfully, Yin Xuelian hasn’t shown up yet. If she were to appear in my dorm right now and catch the two of us, the consequences would be unimaginable.’

“Alright, hurry up and finish the congee. Are you feeling a bit better now?”

After half a bowl of congee, Su Cheng felt some of her strength return. She felt much better than when she had an empty stomach.

“I can do it myself.”

Lin Shiyue wouldn’t allow it, her tone firm and her gaze serious, “No, I’ll feed you.”

Su Cheng felt sweat trickle down her face but had no choice but to agree.

After finishing the congee and drinking the water in the cup, Su Cheng closed her eyes and leaned against the headboard to catch her breath.

A warm fingertip suddenly touched Su Cheng’s flushed cheek, startling her into opening her eyes abruptly.

Lin Shiyue had climbed onto the bed with the medicine and a bottle of water. This time, it wasn’t going to be as simple as just giving Su Cheng a drink.

“Chengcheng,” Lin Shiyue’s voice was very soft, like a morning breeze, but it carried an undeniable seriousness. “Don’t let yourself get sick next time. I’ll be worried.”

Su Cheng was stunned for a moment, then slowly said, “I know. I’ll be more careful in the future.”

“Then, it’s time to take your medicine.”

“Okay.”

Su Cheng calmly stared at Lin Shiyue’s palm, where two pills lay.

But what happened next left Su Cheng dumbfounded.

“Wait, isn’t that medicine for me to take?”

Only then did Lin Shiyue reveal her fangs, a wicked smile playing on her lips.

She put the pills in her mouth, and they began to slowly dissolve. Meanwhile, her hands were already holding Su Cheng’s head steady, preventing her from moving.

Su Cheng’s heart pounded erratically, but what could her weakened body do?

Her azure eyes widened in terror. All she could do was watch as Lin Shiyue’s playful face drew closer and closer.

“Shiyue, what… what are you trying to do…?”

“Mmph…”

The last thing in her line of sight was Su Cheng’s lips. She closed her eyes and pressed hers tightly against those fervent red lips.

Although it wasn’t the first time, the tips of Lin Shiyue’s ears quietly turned red.

The bitter and slightly sweet medicinal liquid slowly flowed into Su Cheng’s mouth, moistening her dry throat.

Su Cheng’s already feverish and dizzy mind completely short-circuited from Lin Shiyue’s actions.

Whether it was Yin Xuelian or Lin Shiyue, in Su Cheng’s eyes right now, neither of them was a normal human being.

Su Cheng’s phone, forgotten under her pillow, had long since run out of battery and turned off.
And someone, forgotten in that phone, was now growing anxious and puzzled.
