Chapter 7: A Servant’s Intervention

‘Ugh—’

A wave of nausea churned within Allyrose as she gazed at the insincere man before her.

Anyone unaware of the truth might genuinely believe this brave hero was deeply concerned for her, tenderly protecting his fiancée and coming to her rescue.

Yet, upon closer consideration, it became clear that he had immediately affirmed the Church’s right to demand compensation from her. He was instructing her to surrender her own property, and this supposed act of a lover’s care was nothing more than a conspiracy concocted with Vivian.

In the novel, Allyrose, overwhelmed by the Church’s encirclement, had nervously fallen prey to the schemes of her closest lover, trusting him instinctively.

As a result, she had foolishly surrendered her property for Vivian’s enjoyment. Homeless and forced to live with Jason, Allyrose was progressively manipulated and controlled, becoming increasingly dependent on him.

Ultimately, she crossed every boundary, naively sacrificing everything to her so-called lover, all while deluding herself into believing she was happy.

Allyrose longed to shove the man away and slap him hard, venting her frustration.

But… ugh, a sharp gasp escaped her.

The moment she lifted her head to look at Jason again, an inexplicable surge of intense trust flooded Allyrose’s mind.

She even felt an urge to cling to him tighter and accept his proposal.

‘Damn it—!’

Taking a deep breath, Allyrose quickly shook her head, trying to dislodge the repulsive thought.

This sudden impulse wasn’t a result of hypnosis, but rather the original Allyrose’s profound love for her fiancé, which was now influencing her own thoughts and feelings.

‘This… this idiotic Allyrose!’

‘Damn… damn it!’

The twin-tailed girl panted, irritably patting her head. From a distance, Luo Jia witnessed the scene, falling into a brief contemplation.

His gaze then shifted to Jason, who appeared to be deeply concerned for Allyrose, yet whose eyes occasionally darted towards Vivian. Luo Jia couldn’t help but sneer.

‘Well… never mind. Regardless, while this wicked woman Allyrose certainly needs some discipline, I did take her money, after all.’

‘Having accepted payment, I must deliver.’

A moment later, Luo Jia swiftly approached Allyrose and Jason, drawing the attention of everyone present. Without uttering a single superfluous word, the silver-haired youth gently grasped Allyrose’s slender wrist.

Then, with a decisive pull, he drew her away from Jason and towards himself.

“Ah—!”

The twin-tailed girl had no time to react before she stumbled abruptly into Luo Jia’s embrace.

The atmosphere fell silent for a few seconds. Allyrose looked up, meeting Luo Jia’s calm gaze, then blinked.

She turned her head, observing Jason, whose expression was a mixture of shock and annoyance.

‘Oh… this, this is…’

“Who are you? This is my fiancée! What is the meaning of this?!”

Jason’s brows furrowed sharply as he lunged forward, appearing ready to strike. Allyrose quickly stepped in front of Luo Jia, fearing Jason might beat up her newly acquired pretty boy.

‘Where would I find another system point machine if he did that?!’

To her surprise, the very next second, Luo Jia moved before Allyrose, deliberately shielding her. With a cold, impassive expression, he extended his hand and caught Jason’s outstretched fist.

‘This…’

Jason was visibly stunned. He had clearly put his full strength into that punch; no ordinary person should have been able to stop it. This…

Imperceptibly, Luo Jia had already gained a psychological advantage over Jason. Furthermore, the silver-haired youth, standing at a towering 1.85 meters, visibly dominated Jason’s 1.8-meter frame, asserting a clear, condescending gaze.

Observing Jason, who seemed to be losing his nerve and was momentarily dazed, Luo Jia offered a cold sneer. A moment later, he spoke in a flat, indifferent tone:

“I do not care who you are. I am Miss Allyrose’s servant, and I only see that you are greatly troubling her. She dislikes your proposal; can you not perceive that?”

“Hmph… no, you, a mere servant, dare to speak to me like that?! Ha, truly presumptuous! Furthermore, Allyrose is my childhood sweetheart and fiancée.

Could you possibly know her better than I do? How dare you claim she won’t accept my proposal? Wife, wife!”

Jason’s competitive male pride seemed to have been thoroughly provoked by Luo Jia. He leaned forward, anxiously looking towards Allyrose, then asked excitedly:

“Wife, tell him! Tell this insolent servant that you will accept my suggestion!”

A moment later, Allyrose, now completely composed, tilted her head with a mischievous smile. Then, parting her alluring lips, she spoke softly:

“Darling, I’m sorry, but I… don’t intend to accept your proposal~”

****

“Wh-what?!”

Jason’s mouth twitched upon hearing Allyrose’s words, and his expression immediately soured. Sensing the Church onlookers behind him regarding his back with growing mockery, Jason instantly lowered his voice.

Unable to maintain his composure any longer, he spoke sharply:

“You, what is the meaning of this?”

“Oh, darling, don’t misunderstand~” The twin-tailed girl suppressed a giggle, even tiptoeing to pat her scoundrel fiancé’s head reassuringly.

She then walked past Luo Jia and Jason, stopping before Sister Jennelle, who had stepped forward to confront her earlier. With a cold sneer, Allyrose narrowed her eyes and began:

“What I mean is, there’s absolutely no need! Is there perhaps a possibility that I didn’t lose the Scepter of Holy Light at all? And… what if I can even retrieve it right now~?

If I were to find the Scepter here today, Bishop, would the Church still find other reasons to claim my home?”

The twin-tailed girl’s lips curved into a subtle smile, clearly a direct challenge to the entire Church. Kitav’s expression darkened at her words.

After a brief pause, he let out a cold snort before speaking in a deep voice:

“Such wild claims, Allyrose! What has gotten into you today? Stripping you of your title as Saintess was merely to rectify the errors of the past. Do you wish for the gods to watch us continue in sin indefinitely?

Filled with resentment, you utter any nonsense that comes to mind. If you truly could find the Scepter, why did you not do so months ago? Now that we’ve come to hold you accountable, you resort to glib talk.

Very well, if you can indeed retrieve the Scepter right now, I will naturally lead the Church’s people away! We will never set foot here again!”

“Bishop, what kind of talk is that?! I merely wished to make another contribution to the Church~”

Allyrose chuckled softly. Then, she slowly withdrew a golden bracelet from her pocket and declared:

“However, very well. Since the Bishop has spoken, then… now, I shall tell you all where the Scepter is!”
