Chapter 7: Possession is Always New (Part 3)

As I did when I was possessed before, and as I always feel when talking with game NPCs, it’s not awkward, but what

should I say, there’s no naturalness.

People listening might think, what kind of nonsense is this, but it’s just my honest feelings from actually talking.

There isn’t a single lie in my words.

How many people would believe me if I said that it felt like talking to a programmed robot or artificial intelligence,

repeatedly choosing words from a fixed framework, and I was forced to adjust to it?

How many people would understand if I said that it felt more like talking to a talking doll than a person?

Probably very few.

Unless they’re the protagonist’s party or main characters, it’s hard to find someone who can have a natural

conversation. A world full of NPCs that are detached from reality was the game I was possessed by before.

So, thankfully, it was an opportunity to clearly realize that it wasn’t reality.

I was really shocked when Leticia or Leo looked at the shopkeeper NPC who repeated the same words every time and

asked me what was wrong with that, as if they didn’t know.

‘It felt like I was the only strange one.’

I realized at that time what it felt like to be treated as a strange person with two eyes in a village of people with one eye.

It’s such a terribly creepy memory that I still remember it vividly.

And, out of the blue, usually when you see a game possession novel, if the protagonist is possessed by a game

character they created or a boss mob like the final boss, they take one of two actions.

The type that treats the game as reality and takes the game seriously, or the type that treats the game as just a game.

There is a clear difference between the two.

Then, can’t there be similarities even though there are differences? The protagonists in the novels I’ve seen aren’t like

that, isn’t that a flawed logic?

Right. This is nonsense. But it’s true that there are no similarities.

Isn’t it funny?

There’s no way there can be similarities when their mindsets are different.

It’s reality that I can’t say for sure that either one is good. So there are many times when the protagonist is

frustrating, and if the protagonist is overly kind or foolish, that case is even more extreme.

If the protagonist becomes more and more of a psycho as time goes on, they often become synchronized with the

character and go crazy.

There are even people who forget their memories of reality and live forever as that character. If I hadn’t been able to

communicate with Leticia or Leo like real friends or lovers, I might have gone crazy in that world.

From various perspectives, I’m a very lucky guy.

I was able to belong to a normal hero party, not a trashy hero party that would appear in a common hero party novel,

where the protagonist is banished or the protagonist banishes himself.

It wasn’t like the traditional hero party where the comrades were overflowing with camaraderie, but they knew how

to care for each other.

The only drawback was that the elf was dirty and prickly, so there were no major problems with our party.

Chloe, the saintess, was inherently good, so there were no problems getting close to her, and although Leo and I

didn’t have a great relationship at first, we gradually improved our relationship to the point where we considered

each other best friends.

My first meeting with Leticia wasn’t good, but she was the most reliable comrade in the party and the object of my

unrequited love.

Then why am I suddenly saying this?

Because I feel like I’ll go crazy if I don’t say anything.

“The mother’s embrace was warm. The warmth and kindness I felt for the first time. I had the pride and confidence

of being the first creation born as a living creature, and I had everything that everyone in the world wanted from

birth. I was a blessed ‘morning star’.”

“…You’ve already said the same thing twice…. Please stop so we can move on with the quest… Please.”

“What. It’s just the beginning, so listen carefully. Ahem, not only the angels born after me, but even the newly born

humans on the ground looked up to me.”

There’s no complicated reason.

When you keep hearing the same thing over and over again like a CD playing on repeat, humans, as animals, can

naturally go crazy with boredom.

That was exactly my current state.

I was half out of my mind, listening to the goddess’s story for hours, unable to give up because of the quest.

If I give up on this, I won’t be able to move forward, so I have no choice but to listen. There is no choice.

However, this goddess was very talkative, perhaps because she had been trapped alone in this abyss for a long time.

It’s understandable that she’s talkative because there’s no one to talk to in a space like this, where there’s only

darkness, but it was too much.

She was more talkative than the grandmothers and aunts who chat in the market.

I thought she was a very taciturn and dignified goddess with the fear of all things and a dark past, but thanks to that,

my fantasy was completely shattered.

She was just a clumsy and talkative goddess who liked to talk to others.

‘…Where did your dignity go, Goddess? The charisma when I first saw you…?’

It’s not just that she’s saying programmed words.

The game’s degree of freedom has increased, or the artificial intelligence has improved considerably, so the goddess

was busy pouring out her story.

Maybe the game really became reality, and the concept of an NPC itself disappeared.

That would be amazing. I just looked at the goddess calmly. I didn’t show it outwardly. The goddess didn’t seem to

care much.

She’s focused on talking, so she won’t be curious about my story. No matter what I say, she won’t listen that carefully.

“I was like a shining star. When I was young, I wasn’t this ugly and disgusting appearance, but an angel who received

the trust, respect, and faith of all angels and humans. The number of angels who confessed to me easily exceeded a

hundred.”

In short, when she was young, she was popular and received many confessions.

“It was a happy life. There was more to have than not to have.”

That means she received a lot of tribute, so let’s ignore it.

It’s useless nonsense to hear that. Where’s the skip button? I really want to spam the mouse.

Developer, come out, operator, come out!

The previous work was like that too, if it’s a PC game, you should be able to give one story skip button.

“Humans offered faith, and angels offered food and entertainment endlessly. As a result, my power grew stronger.”

I’m really drained.

There’s a limit to listening and responding to her. I wish she would hurry up and break the quest. I looked at the

goddess, Lucifel, who was excited and threw away her dignified attitude and chattered endlessly to me.

Lucifel continued her story with a proud expression and a dark face, as if regretting.

“Also, when I was young, I was arrogant. I was arrogant and thought that everything in the world was beneath me. It

was no different for the goddess who created me. My power grew stronger and stronger, and I became incomparably

stronger than my younger brother, Michael.”

That was the beginning of my sin. Lucifel said.

“…Ah. Yes.”

“What is that bland reaction? React more and be enthusiastic. Do you know how glorious it is to hear my past?”

Here we go again. I just nodded.

“Of course.”

“In the past, just telling my believers my past made them cry and make a fuss.”

“……I see. You had many sensitive believers.”

That was the end of my impression. Appropriately responding to Lucifel’s words and answering leisurely. That’s all

my role is.

Lucifel, nevertheless, seemed to like my attitude and smiled and said.

“I’m sorry for bothering you. This old woman was being presumptuous because she was lonely. I’m not usually a

person who gets lonely, but being alone in a space like this makes me lonely.”

A somewhat sad smile. I couldn’t take my eyes off that wistful smile that resembled someone I loved. In the end,

what came out of my mouth was not rejection, but acceptance.

“…It’s okay. It’s true that I have nothing to do, and since I’m tied up, the only person I can talk to is you, Goddess.”

“Thank you for understanding.”

The sadness that comes from experience was reflected on her face.

The goddess of demons.

Because she is the goddess that the demons, who were once enemies, believe in, I had to harbor hostile feelings even

though I hadn’t seen her.

Because she was the goddess that the main culprit of the war believed in.

But what about now? If someone asked me if I could hate a goddess full of sadness and emptiness, who has some

kind of deep story, I would hesitate.

I might accept it after worrying. Just like now. Just then, a glittering system window appeared in front of my eyes.

[Choose.]

What.

[Choose one of the choices and say it.]

[1. Hey, you old hag! I don’t give a damn about you being trapped here as an old goddess in the back room. Find someone else.]

[2. Since when have you been trapped in this abyss, Lucifel?]

[3. You’re just a clumsy goddess. You were betrayed and trapped in a place like this.]

What is this again?

I frowned. Now they’re even telling me to choose a choice. I’m suspicious that it’s too much of a mix.

I couldn’t say it out loud, so I just let out a sigh in my heart and scanned the choices.

Unless I’m crazy, I shouldn’t do 1 or 3. I rolled my eyes and chose 2. And I hesitated for a moment, then spoke first for the first time.

“Since when have you been trapped in this abyss, Lucifel?”

“…It’s a modest question for a first question. Well, it wouldn’t be strange for a young demon like you not to know, since he erased my records from history.”

“Erased… you say?”

“Yes, erased. It’s something that woman who trapped me here could easily do. Pretending to package it nicely and

build it up is that woman’s specialty.”

It’s not strange. The emotion of jealousy always ruins living things. I did too. Lucifel, who smiled bitterly, added.

“It’s enough to do something you’ll regret once.”

Lucifel, speaking as if shaking off regrets. Just as I was about to ask what that meant, the quest suddenly announced its end.

[Main Quest: Let’s talk with Goddess Lucifel.]

[The quest has been completed. Goddess Lucifel felt satisfaction in talking with you. Therefore, you, who have

successfully completed the conversation with the goddess, please receive your reward.]

[10,000 won and +6 stat points will be awarded.]

“…Huh?”

What was the main content of the quest? What is it that cleared it?

The conversation with Lucifel hasn’t even started, but the conversation has been cut off. I looked at Lucifel like a

person wanting an answer, and I was startled. She was staring straight at me.

Then she suddenly smiled.

“I guess my work is done. It’s a really strange thing. A swordsman who once cut down my children became a demon.”

“…!! How.”

“I watched everything in this abyss. You were cutting down quite excitedly.”

Lucifel’s voice was infinitely cold, but a strange laugh was even mixed in her voice.

“Only the strong are the law, and only the strong have rights. Demons are the survival of the fittest. So I don’t resent

you. My children were weak, and you were just strong.”

It was a calm voice. Just as I was about to say something, a change occurred. A purple magic circle that looked

similar to the magic circle I had seen before, but different, was engraved under my feet.

This was also a magic circle I had never seen before.

A unique magic circle that I had never seen even when I was Damian Radius. The only similar magic circle is the

summoning magic. The goddess surprisingly kindly answered my question of what this was.

“It’s summoning magic. Someone seems to be calling you. Unlike unilateral summoning magic, it seems a bit ominous.”

Lucifel, who was staring blankly, soon made an expression that she understood and burst into laughter. Clank, clank.

The chains binding Lucifel moved along with Lucifel’s movements.

“You’re so unlucky. It’s also strange. Is there anyone left who can use the forbidden magic ‘demon summoning’ that

disappeared long ago in this world?”

“…What did you say?”

“Heh, I hope it’s a fun game. It was a pleasant conversation that wasn’t boring, Charlotte Cyclamen.”

I don’t even have the energy to ask anymore, since Lucifel naturally calls out my real name when I’ve never told her.

As I quietly let my body be carried away by the summoning magic that was scattering vast mana all around, Lucifel’s

last words were heard in my ears.

“It’s not just a summoning magic that summons demons, but a summoning magic that has a spell to find someone

special at the same time. Keep that in mind and have a good trip.”

With those words, my vision was reversed.

Damn his girl is dabbling in demonic rituals to bring him back. He is not escaping once she gets a hold of him.
Also hope that she frees Lucifel once all is done.
