“…So, that’s what happened.”
Ji-eun narrowed her eyes after listening to Shihyun’s explanation.
Soon, she asked with an incredulous expression,
“You single-handedly took down three level 150s?”
“That’s not the important part.”
“I think that’s the most important part…”
Ji-eun shook her head.
Not only did she effortlessly cut down Master and Grand Master players, but now she’s taking down snipers despite a huge level difference.
‘Is there anything she can’t do in Arfellium?’
She must be blessed with a talent specifically designed to conquer Arfellium Saga.
Logically, someone with this level of talent should aim for the professional scene. However, it was strange that Shihyun was more interested in streaming.
‘Well, does it really matter?’
With that kind of talent, it wouldn’t matter much what she did.
She’s only 21. Still young.
Considering that the prime of most Arfellium Saga pro players is in their late 20s, there wasn’t a need for her to jump into the pro scene right away.
It wouldn’t be too late for Shihyun to go pro anytime.
Well, even if it was late, her skills, comparable to, or even surpassing, Choi Sangcheol, wouldn’t go to waste.
“Are you listening to me?”
Ji-eun, lost in thought, snapped back to reality at Shihyun’s voice.
“Huh? Oh, yeah. I’m listening.”
“Then what did I just say?”
“Sorry. Can you repeat it?”
Ji-eun smiled awkwardly, and Shihyun pouted.
“I asked why I was being targeted.”
“Well, isn’t that a pointless question?”
Ji-eun rested her chin on her left arm, picked up a straw, and stirred the chocolate frappe in front of her. The whipped cream piled on top of the frappe swirled around.
“Whether it’s jealousy, resentment, or whatever, there must be a reason. That…whatever streamer who targeted you got completely wrecked after you cleared up the hacking accusations, right? I think he quit streaming.”
“Hmm. Is that so?”
Shihyun hummed, and Ji-eun shrugged.
“Or it could just be someone trying to get attention. There are a lot of those, aren’t there? You can tell just by looking at the chat.”
“They didn’t seem like they were after attention.”
“Really? How can you tell?”
Shihyun touched her lips with a slender finger and answered.
“My gut feeling tells me so.”
They weren’t trying to attract attention. Shihyun was certain of it. It wasn’t a targeted attack based on any resentment either. Their reactions and behavior didn’t indicate any ill will.
Ji-eun chuckled at Shihyun’s answer.
“Oh, really? Gut feeling… That’s a very unscientific way of guessing.”
“My gut feeling is pretty accurate.”
Ji-eun burst out laughing.
“Do you have any examples?”
“When my gut told me to buy a lottery ticket, I won.”
“Just 5th place, right?”
“No, 2nd place.”
Huh? 2nd place?
Ji-eun’s eyes widened at the surprising answer.
“Huh? What did you say? 2nd place?”
“Anyway, it didn’t seem like they were after attention or had a grudge. Jealousy? There was a bit of that, but it felt like they attacked me for a different reason.”
“You really won 2nd place?”
“That’s not important.”
“Oh, come on. Tell me! It’s bad to leave someone hanging like that. That’s the worst.”
Ji-eun kept pressing. The lottery story seemed to have piqued her interest.
Shihyun sighed, turned on her smartphone, and opened the gallery.
There was a screenshot of the lottery win confirmation.
Ji-eun’s jaw dropped as she saw the screenshot.
“Wow, seriously.”
“Is that so surprising?”
Well, thinking about it, it was surprising. Shihyun smacked her lips. Meanwhile, Ji-eun started fussing.
“Wow, this is the first time I’ve seen someone who won the lottery. Wow. It actually happens.”
“Of course it happens. Why wouldn’t it?”
“It could be fake. It could all be a trick.”
Ji-eun answered with a serious face. Seeing that, Shihyun looked at her with pity. To believe in a conspiracy theory like the lottery being rigged, of all things!
“Lotto is invincible, and pension lottery is divine. Remember that.”
“What’s that supposed to mean? Are you saying you keep buying tickets even after winning?”
Ji-eun furrowed her brows. Shihyun nodded.
“Of course.”
Even after winning?
Why wouldn’t she buy tickets when success was ‘proven’?
“Since I already profited from the lottery, it’s not a loss even if I keep buying. It’s a profit, not a deficit. So, I keep buying.”
“That sounds like something a gambling addict would say.”
A gambling addict? This was a choice based on rational and logical calculations! As Shihyun grumbled, Ji-eun, who had finished her chocolate frappe, asked,
“So? The conclusion is a suspicious sniping attempt?”
“Yes.”
“Hmm. Based on what you said, I think someone hired them to attack you. Did you do something to make enemies again?”
“I don’t recall doing anything to make enemies…”
Shihyun, who was about to deny it, trailed off. Thinking about it again, there were quite a few possibilities.
Ji-eun shook her head again.
“Well, you’re always chopping people up, so it would be stranger if you didn’t have enemies.”
“Haha.”
“Well, anyway, this isn’t something that can be solved by just thinking about it. You just have to endure it.”
“I see.”
“It should be quiet for a while, though.”
Shihyun tilted her head at those words.
“Why?”
“Well, you showed them that petty tricks won’t work by tearing those three apart.”
“Tearing them apart? I didn’t do that.”
“Tearing, cutting, it’s the same thing.”
Ji-eun shrugged, and Shihyun frowned.
“Do you think I’m a barbarian?”
Ji-eun closed her mouth at those words.
A barbarian warrior or a crazy woman with a knife. What’s the difference?
‘There’s not much difference, Shihyun.’
Unfortunately, Shihyun seemed to be the only one unaware of her own image.
“Damn it, damn it, damn it!”
Crash!
A glass thrown to the floor shattered. Shards of porcelain scattered everywhere. However, Sosorang, the one who threw the glass, wasn’t satisfied and picked up another one.
“How can this be!”
Sosorang threw the second glass and caught her breath.
Her eyes glinted through her disheveled hair.
Her ragged breathing resembled that of a wild animal.
Suddenly looking up, Sosorang saw her reflection in the mirror. A rather unsightly appearance. She gritted her teeth.
She had failed.
A colossal failure.
‘Is this even possible?’
The snipers were three levels higher. She spent a fortune hiring three of them.
Shouldn’t she have gotten what she wanted?
Shouldn’t Sung Shihyun have been humiliated on her broadcast, just as she requested!
“How can three people get wrecked by one!”
Sosorang was simply dumbfounded after witnessing that scene live on Shihyun’s broadcast.
‘How can someone be that good at a game?’
She couldn’t understand it. She couldn’t accept it.
“If she’s good at games, she should at least be ugly!”
Why was she so perfect that it drove Sosorang mad?
Because of Shihyun, Sosorang’s channel growth had stagnated. Or rather, that’s what Sosorang believed. The truth didn’t matter to her.
The problem was that there was nothing more Sosorang could do.
“Hwang Seonwook, You should keep your promises!”
CEO Hwang no longer answered Sosorang’s calls.
The moment Arfellium Corporation stepped in to clear Shihyun’s name and revealed that her test score was higher than Choi Sangcheol’s, CEO Hwang essentially gave up on attacking Shihyun.
Instead, he was only thinking of ways to profit from her.
It was the worst-case scenario for Sosorang.
The moment CEO Hwang decided to use Shihyun, Sosorang was as good as abandoned.
“No.”
Sosorang bit her nails, then took out a pill bottle from her pocket with trembling hands. She swallowed the pills with water and muttered,
“This can’t be the end.”
If everything ended like this, all that would remain would be her shattered mental state and her ruined channel. She couldn’t bear such an outcome.
Sosorang gritted her teeth and vowed.
‘I will ruin her, somehow.’
She swore revenge on Shihyun for ruining(?) her.
Of course, the chances of that revenge succeeding were extremely slim.
