The military training was in full swing, and in the blink of an eye, it was the last day of training.
During this period, Lin Shiyue and Yin Xuelian had both been much quieter, and Gu Xiyua even more so. Apart from occasional conversations, she seemed no different from an ordinary classmate.
Yin Xuelian’s daily interactions with Su Cheng remained, but she hadn’t done anything out of line.
Lin Shiyue had restrained herself a lot since the last incident and was currently still in a classmate relationship with Su Cheng, as if what happened that day was just a dream.
Everything was back on the track that Su Cheng had originally envisioned.
Today, the last day of military training, was only half a day. After the morning’s military parade, the two-week-long training would come to an end.
“I now declare that the military training for the new students has officially concluded!”
A voice that brought joy to all the freshmen present came from the loudspeaker, and Su Cheng was no exception.
Having gone through military training twice, the physical and mental exhaustion was super-doubled.
With the instructor’s final “Dismissed,” the neat and orderly formations quickly scattered.
Su Cheng had intended to go with the flow and walk back to the dorm, but her hand was unexpectedly grabbed.
She turned around curiously. It was Gu Xiya.
“Classmate Gu? What’s wrong?”
Gu Xiya looked at Su Cheng’s confused expression and smiled slightly, “Let’s go to the cafeteria together. I have something to tell you.”
“Oh? Alright.”
Su Cheng agreed, and the two of them walked side by side towards the cafeteria.
To Su Cheng, Gu Xiya was the one who felt most like a classmate. After all, in their past lives, they had never reached the stage of being a couple.
Therefore, Su Cheng wasn’t very guarded against her.
After getting their food, the two found an empty seat in a corner and sat down.
“Go ahead, what did you want to see me about?” Su Cheng asked first.
Gu Xiya tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, a smile playing on her lips.
“It’s nothing much. It’s my birthday tonight, and I wanted to invite you to my birthday party.”
“Huh? So sudden.”
Su Cheng exclaimed in surprise.
Other than knowing that Gu Xiya could sing, she didn’t pay attention to anything else about her.
So today was her birthday.
“So Classmate Gu is a local.”
Gu Xiya nodded lightly and said, “My parents are busy with work and are always traveling. They can’t make it back for my birthday tonight, so they gave me money to arrange it myself.”
“There might be some shortcomings in the reception, I hope you can understand.”
Su Cheng understood the meaning behind her words and nodded her beautiful head, “Alright, so when does it start?”
“Six-thirty in the evening. I’ll send you the address. If you take a taxi, I’ll reimburse you for the fare,” Gu Xiyua said seriously.
Soon, a location from Gu Xiya popped up on Su Cheng’s WeChat. Using a map app to navigate, she found that it wasn’t far, only a twenty-minute bus ride.
“I’ll just take the bus. It’s cheap and convenient,” Su Cheng put down her phone and squinted her eyes slightly.
Gu Xiya smiled in relief, “Alright then. I look forward to your arrival.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely be there.”
Speaking of birthdays, Su Cheng had forgotten how many she hadn’t celebrated. Or rather, she only had memories of celebrating her birthday two or three times.
If she remembered correctly, her birthday was on the sixteenth of next month, during the holidays.
Su Cheng still had half of her food left, while Gu Xiya’s tray was already empty.
“I’ll be leaving first. I have to go home and prepare things.”
“Okay, see you tonight.”
Just as she said goodbye to Gu Xiya, the phone on the table began to vibrate, unwilling to be lonely.
She picked it up, and Yin Xuelian’s flower-like face appeared on the screen.
It was unexpected for Su Cheng.
– “Hello, Sister Lian. Why are you video calling?”
– “Waaah! Little baby! Sister misses you so much!”
Su Cheng’s phone volume wasn’t low, and the people at the next table could hear the sweet, soft voice coming from it.
She hung up the phone and immediately stood up. Yin Xuelian had already sent a message to Lin Zhuo.
Startled, Su Cheng immediately turned down the volume of her phone, brought her small face closer to the screen, and stared at the nervous-looking Yin Xuelian.
“Aiyo, Sister, you’ll be the death of me. I’m still eating.”
“Eating? Who are you eating with? Huh?”
“No one, just myself.”
Yin Xuelian blinked her beautiful eyes suspiciously, not believing her, “Turn your phone around and let me see.”
“You still don’t believe me? Here.” Su Cheng said, quickly turning her phone around in a circle.
“See? You believe me now.”
After confirming that there was no one around Su Cheng, Yin Xuelian’s tone relaxed, and she smiled at the camera.
“I believe you. Hehe, does my little baby miss me?”
Su Cheng’s face turned slightly red. During this time, whenever they were alone, Yin Xuelian would call her ‘little baby,’ so she had developed some immunity to it.
As for why she called her ‘little baby,’ Yin Xuelian’s explanation was that good besties could call each other that.
‘Only a ghost would believe that.’
“No. Sister, you can just go on and have fun outside.”
Yin Xuelian’s lips drooped, her face full of sadness.
“Wuwuwu, how could you be like this?”
“Hmph, hmph, have you eaten?”
“Just finished. I’m resting now. I have more training in the afternoon.”
Su Cheng picked up her chopsticks and took a bite of rice, “Then you should hurry up and rest.”
Yin Xuelian pouted, her brows slightly furrowed, “But I miss you, that’s why I’m video calling you.”
“Alright, I’ll finish my food first.”
“Okay. Hehe, I’ll watch you eat then.” Yin Xuelian smiled and leaned closer to the camera, her eyes never leaving Su Cheng’s pretty face for a second.
“You have to watch me eat too? Haven’t you seen enough already?” Su Cheng said helplessly.
Yin Xuelian replied firmly, “Not enough, of course not enough. It’s never enough, no matter how many times I look.”
Su Cheng picked up a piece of pork belly and blocked the camera with it, wanting to tease Yin Xuelian.
“Hey, you can’t see now, can you?”
Yin Xuelian’s charming smile was evident, a faint blush on her cheeks. The smile on Yin Xuelian’s face disappeared as she said sharply, “Move your meat away, or I’ll eat it!”
“Go ahead and eat it. Come on, open your mouth,” Su Cheng stuck out her tongue and stared at Yin Xuelian on the screen, a playful smile on her lips.
Yin Xuelian opened her mouth at the camera, as if she were about to eat the piece of meat in front of her.
“Ahm!”
“Eh, you can’t eat it~ hahaha…” Su Cheng put the piece of meat in her own mouth and said with a grin.
Yin Xuelian pouted unhappily, her lips almost able to hang an oil bottle.
“So, you’ve gotten bold, daring to tease me.”
“I didn’t. But Sister just can’t eat it. What can I do?” Su Cheng sighed with feigned helplessness, looking at Yin Xuelian with one eye open and one eye closed.
Yin Xuelian knitted her brows and clicked her tongue, huffing, “I think you’ve been itching for a lesson lately. I’ll have to teach you a good one.”
“No, no, no, I’m very well-behaved. Don’t do anything rash,” Su Cheng hurriedly waved her hands. If they continued talking, something bad would happen. “My phone is about to die. Let’s not talk anymore. Goodbye, Sister Lian.”
“Hey!”
Watching Su Cheng wave goodbye, she hastily ended the video call before Yin Xuelian could respond.
“You naughty little baby. Just wait until I get back and deal with you properly.”
Yin Xuelian held her phone and huffed in annoyance, already devising a plan in her mind.
“Phew, time to go.”
Su Cheng picked up her empty tray and walked towards the cafeteria exit.
She remembered something she should have asked Yin Xuelian, but on second thought, it didn’t seem appropriate.
Since Gu Xiya had invited her to her birthday party, she should at least get her a birthday gift, right?
But what should she get?
Flowers? Cosmetics? A phone?
Su Cheng couldn’t come up with a definite answer at the moment.
She would have to wait until after her afternoon nap to go to the mall and decide.
