Originally a sumptuous seafood feast, the table was now a complete mess.
All sorts of empty drink and beer cans were scattered about, and Su Cheng was currently tidying up with a trash can.
With her was Gu Xiya.
The others had been sent off by Gu Xiya to play in the living room.
“Classmate Su, I’m really sorry to trouble you, having to help me clean the dining table.”
“No trouble, no trouble at all.”
Su Cheng smiled at Gu Xiya, deftly clearing the trash from the table into the trash can, while Gu Xiya tidied up the dishes.
In a flash, the dining table was clean, and Su Cheng moved to the sink to help with the dishes.
“I can do it myself. Classmate Su, you should go watch TV,” Gu Xiya stopped Su Cheng.
“Aiya, it’ll be faster with two people. Besides, I don’t like it when it’s too lively,” Su Cheng explained softly, picking up a dishcloth and turning on the faucet to start washing.
Gu Xiya had no choice but to wash the dishes with Su Cheng.
Actually, Su Cheng just didn’t want to be interrogated by Gu Xiya’s roommates. After all, the commotion during dinner was so big that if she didn’t use helping to clear the table as an escape, she would probably be asked what color her underwear was.
‘Don’t ask, the answer is white.’
Gu Xiya watched Su Cheng, who was wearing an apron and washing dishes by her side. She had a certain wifely charm, and Gu Xiya unknowingly fell into a fantasy.
In the future, she would come home from work every day to her white-haired, beautiful wife who had prepared a table full of food, welcoming her at the entryway and saying, “Darling, you’ve worked hard.”
Tsk, tsk…
Gu Xiya’s burning gaze was fixed on Su Cheng, and Su Cheng’s movements couldn’t help but slow down a bit.
“Um, Classmate Gu, is there something interesting on my face?!”
Snapping back to reality, Gu Xiya let out a soft laugh, her gaze still not leaving Su Cheng’s profile.
“Of course. Classmate Su is pretty, I love looking at you.”
Faced with Gu Xiya’s directness, Su Cheng actually became shy.
“Haha…” Su Cheng could only laugh awkwardly.
In the blink of an eye, Gu Xiya reached out and pinched Su Cheng’s pink cheeks. “Wow, it feels so good.”
“Mmph, mmph, Classmate Gu, be gentle.”
Su Cheng half-closed her eyes, her hands stopping their movements.
Gu Xiya moved closer to Su Cheng, her right palm cupping her face, giving her no chance to dodge. The next second, she kissed Su Cheng’s fragrant cheek.
“Mwah~”
The second time.
Besides surprise, Su Cheng also felt a sense of alarm.
‘She kissed me again.’
“Hehe… This is a reward for your help, Classmate Su.”
Su Cheng’s face flushed red as she said, “Well, thank you very much.”
The first time was understandable, but this time was so sudden that Su Cheng couldn’t help but think of other things.
‘It can’t be that Gu Xiya also has ideas about me, right?’
‘Or is it normal for girls to kiss each other like this?’
‘No, absolutely not normal.’
Gu Xiya let go of Su Cheng’s face and smiled as she lowered her head to continue working. In about ten minutes, all the dishes were washed and placed in the sterilizer.
“Alright, thanks for your hard work. Next up is cake time.”
“Ooh, yay!”
Su Cheng became unusually excited at the mention of cake. After all, she could count the number of birthday cakes she’d had in her life on one hand.
Gu Xiya took the cake box out of the refrigerator and walked towards the living room.
“Cake time, cake time! Stop looking, come and clear the table.”
“Okay!” several people said in unison.
After clearing the things off the coffee table, Gu Xiya placed the cake on it. Cheng Yuanyuan couldn’t wait to open the packaging, revealing the cake’s true form.
“Xiya, how many candles should I put in?”
“Eighteen, you dummy.”
“Aiya, who remembers how old you are? I’ll get it done right away.”
Wen Yao inserted the candles while Gu Xiya found a lighter. The moment the candles were in place, all eighteen were lit.
“Ooh, ooh, alright, alright. Su Cheng, turn off the lights quickly, they’re right behind you.”
At Cheng Yuanyuan’s command, Su Cheng turned around and flicked the switch.
The large room instantly darkened, with only the dim yellow glow of the candles illuminating everyone’s face.
“Come on, come on, let’s sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to our birthday girl!”
Wen Yao called out and started to lead the singing.
“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you…”
Su Cheng stood behind Gu Xiya, looking at her exposed snowy shoulders and slender neck, singing with a smile.
“Happy birthday to you!”
“Xiya, make a wish quickly!”
Gu Xiya quickly closed her eyes, clasped her hands together, and made a wish very seriously.
No one knew what she wished for, but after she made her wish, she secretly peeked at Su Cheng, a smile on her lips, her gaze shifting to the girl behind her.
The person being peeked at was completely unaware.
After the candles were blown out, Su Cheng immediately turned on the lights. Next was the cake-cutting part.
As Gu Xiya cut the cake, Wen Yao and Cheng Yuanyuan were already plotting which piece to get.
“Xiya, give me the one with a lot of strawberries.”
“I want the one with yellow peaches.”
Gu Xiya ignored them. She cut the first piece, placed it on a paper plate, and handed it to Su Cheng first.
“Here, Classmate Su, you have the first piece.”
Su Cheng was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and accepted the cake with a word of thanks.
Although everyone had anticipated this, it undoubtedly told them that Su Cheng held a special place in Gu Xiya’s heart.
Su Cheng ate her cake while watching Gu Xiya chat and laugh with the others, feeling quite at ease for a moment.
Right now, there were no calls from Yin Xuelian and no messages from Lin Shiyue.
She was just quietly savoring the delicious cake, a rare moment indeed.
Happy times are always short. After the cake was finished, those who had to leave left.
Su Cheng stayed behind until the end; everyone else had already gone home early.
The reason Su Cheng stayed was partly because she was afraid Gu Xiya would be too tired cleaning up by herself, and partly because she had nothing to do if she went back so early.
It was just past eight o’clock.
This time, Gu Xiya didn’t tell Su Cheng to go back early. In fact, she seemed to hope she would stay.
The two of them worked together to clean up the trash in the living room, and everything was restored to its original state.
“Phew, Classmate Su, I’ve really troubled you so much today,” Gu Xiya said, holding a can of Coke and handing it to Su Cheng. “You’ve helped me so much, I don’t even know how to thank you.”
“A can of Coke is enough,” Su Cheng said with a smile in her eyes, happily opening the can and taking a couple of swigs.
“Let me see what gift you bought me. I was so busy I didn’t even have time to open it.”
“Well, I don’t know if you’ll like it.”
Su Cheng watched as Gu Xiya opened the gift box, finally taking out a Polaroid camera.
“Ah, it’s a Polaroid! I’ve always wanted one,” Gu Xiya’s eyes lit up as she happily sat down next to Su Cheng with the camera.
“I’m glad you like it,” Su Cheng said with a smile.
Gu Xiya raised the camera, tilted her head towards Su Cheng, and aimed the lens at both of them, “Let’s take a picture together.”
“Cheese!”
Click.
Soon, a photo of the two of them was printed out.
“Wow, that was fast,” Su Cheng exclaimed. It was her first time buying one of these things. “No wonder it’s called a Polaroid. My money wasn’t wasted.”
Gu Xiya looked at the picture of herself and Su Cheng, smiling with satisfaction, “Let’s take a few more. Let’s try a different angle.”
Su Cheng nodded and started to cooperate with Gu Xiya, posing for photos.
“Now, you stay still and just look at the camera,” Gu Xiya commanded.
“Alright.”
Su Cheng obediently stayed still. Gu Xiya took the opportunity to plant a fragrant kiss on Su Cheng’s cheek, holding the pose.
Just as Su Cheng showed a surprised expression, the camera clicked several times, capturing her various reactions as Gu Xiya kissed her cheek.
“Hahaha, Cheng Bao’s expression is so funny, hahahaha.” Gu Xiya looked at the freshly printed photos, one by one.
Su Cheng wiped her cheek, wiping away the moisture left by Gu Xiya’s kiss.
“Mmph… you kissed me again… Classmate Gu, you’re so bad…” Su Cheng muttered under her breath.
Gu Xiya’s pretty face turned slightly red.
‘This is the third time. I have a feeling Gu Xiya isn’t herself today.’
Seeing Su Cheng’s action, Gu Xiya’s smile suddenly vanished, replaced by a blank expression.
Suddenly, Gu Xiya grabbed Su Cheng’s hands and used her body weight to pin her down on the sofa.
Su Cheng’s expression was one of shock, her eyes wide with panic as she stared at Gu Xiya, “Wh-what’s wrong? Classmate Gu, wh-why are you suddenly like this?”
It all happened too suddenly; Su Cheng was completely unprepared.
Gu Xiya stared blankly at Su Cheng’s panicked face, lowered her head slightly, and let out a breath of displeasure from her red lips, her voice deep, “Call me Xiya. Don’t call me Classmate Gu anymore.”
Su Cheng quickly agreed, “Okay, okay, Xiya. Can you let me go now?”
“No,” Gu Xiya said firmly.
“Why not?”
“Because I haven’t tasted my orange-flavored cake yet, hehe…”
The long, low laugh confused Su Cheng’s mind. A wicked charm bloomed in her red eyes, and Gu Xiya’s faint fragrance wafted over.
Su Cheng watched with wide eyes as Gu Xiya’s face rapidly grew larger. Even if she struggled, she couldn’t break free from Gu Xiya’s grasp.
Her strength was surprisingly great at this moment, and the wrists she held tightly were already marked with red imprints.
“Xiya, why… wuwu…”
Gu Xiya covered Su Cheng’s sweet softness, a red halo blooming in the depths of her eyes, a flush creeping up her cheeks and neck.
Golden strands of hair fell on Su Cheng’s face, blurring her vision and consciousness.
Compared to the others’ kisses, Gu Xiya’s was clearly more domineering, with a strong sense of possessiveness.
A flower called ‘possessiveness’ bloomed in her eyes, and Su Cheng was greatly alarmed.
As Gu Xiya deepened the kiss, everything in Su Cheng’s mouth was explored.
And with the appearance of this familiar yet strange taste, the strange fragrance from when she woke up in the infirmary that day came to Su Cheng’s mind. It was exactly the same as Gu Xiya’s sweet scent.
So, in the infirmary, while she was unconscious, Gu Xiya had already made a move on her!
In that case, everything Gu Xiya had done today made sense.
But why would this happen?
Could it be…
She was also a reincarnator?
But what was the connection between them?
