Chapter 82: Remains of the Juvenile Form

After the tug-of-war just now, Na Naya had a rough understanding of the strength of the goblin subspecies in front of her.

In terms of pure strength alone, it could match a C-rank adventurer, with overall strength around B-rank.

Though it was indeed a bit tricky to handle, the four-person team had subjugated plenty of B-rank monsters before, so there shouldn’t be any problems.

If that was the case, then why had the evil fire god said something like that?

Harboring the question, Na Naya threw herself back into the battle with the goblin subspecies.

“Not enough!”

Lulida slammed the iron caltrop against the greatshield in his hand, roaring toward everyone.

In the battle just now, the group had more or less figured out Lulida’s approximate strength; monsters like this B-rank one were tough, but as long as the four handled it carefully, they could still hunt it.

Facing the seemingly enraged Lulida, Meng Linna chose a more conservative approach.

“Everyone, pull back a bit first and see what moves it has.”

With that, she temporarily stopped her output and switched to providing buffs to her teammates.

But facing the adventurers who were loudly discussing tactics right in front of him, Lulida revealed a smile.

He was indeed dumb, but not so dumb that he couldn’t understand human speech.

Since this group of adventurers wanted to see what moves he had, he’d show them his real skills.

Lulida yanked off the necklace from around his neck, then raised it high, placing it on his shield.

“Gugu gu!”

As the goblin channeled his magic power into the linked raw stones on the necklace, the purple raw stones burst forth with a dreamlike glow, as if embedded directly into the shield.

The evil fire god’s voice suddenly appeared in Na Naya’s mind.

“That’s the remains of some alien creature’s juvenile form; actually, what’s strong isn’t that goblin, but the juvenile remains in his hand.”

Na Naya didn’t deny it, just staring at the shield in the other’s hand.

“As long as we take down that goblin, isn’t that fine?”

“Things aren’t that simple… Anyway, since you’re so stubborn, go ahead and try.”

The evil fire god was too lazy to persuade further; since the other had used the juvenile remains on the shield, it probably wouldn’t deliver a fatal blow to the team, right?

On the other side, Meng Linna decided to probe.

Enchanting a shield was a fairly common practice; most shields could block physical damage, but their resistance to various magics and divine spells was quite limited, and applying enchantments to a shield could boost the corresponding attribute resistances.

Since it was a shield enchantment, testing with magic would do.

Meng Linna shook the holy bell, aiming at the other’s shield and unleashing a water cannon.

Boom!

The water flow directly struck the shield in Lulida’s hand, but that shield was like a bottomless pit, countless streams of water rushing into it without splashing a single drop, as if it had swallowed all the water flow entirely.

“Useless, cackle cackle!”

Lulida raised the shield in his hand and even began to suck in Meng Linna’s magic power; even though she wanted to stop, her magic power kept uncontrollably converting through the holy bell into water cannon and venting outward.

“What did you do to me?”

Meng Linna was drenched in sweat; the feeling of losing control over her own magic was truly terrifying.

“Cackle cackle!”

Lulida laughed twice, not intending to respond.

Na Naya also realized Meng Linna’s situation wasn’t good and reached out to snatch the holy bell from her hand.

Without the casting medium, Meng Linna naturally couldn’t continue outputting magic power to the outside world, and the water cannon was forcibly interrupted in that instant.

“Be careful; this guy seems immune to magic attacks.”

Na Naya handed the holy bell back to Meng Linna while reminding everyone.

As for Meng Linna, she’d already had quite a bit of her magic power sucked away, and now that the other could absorb magic power too, her only role now was to apply buffs to everyone and heal.

“Got it!”

The two in the vanguard nodded and closed the distance with Lulida.

If it didn’t eat magic attacks, then pure physical attacks would do.

Na Naya circled toward the goblin’s back; since the shield was enchanted, she just needed to attack the areas it couldn’t cover.

Lulida’s eyes darted around, taking in everyone’s actions; though it looked like the other side held the advantage, he was confident he could crush the four in one go.

First, the two in front; because of Meng Linna’s buffs, they temporarily had the strength to go toe-to-toe with B-rank, but unfortunately, Lulida wasn’t an ordinary B-rank monster.

A heavy smash landed on Stone Fang’s greatshield, the massive impact leaving her no room to counter, while Kelly’s slash was easily caught by him; just like absorbing Meng Linna’s magic power, Lulida’s shield similarly absorbed Kelly’s kinetic energy, and with just a shake of the shield, Kelly was sent flying back in reverse.

“Kelly!”

Stone Fang saw her girlfriend so easily knocked flying and couldn’t help but want to move forward to prevent Lulida from pursuing Kelly.

“Worry about yourself instead.”

But Lulida did the opposite, targeting Stone Fang who wanted to reposition for an attack; a horizontal sweep hit Stone Fang in the waist, and the two in the vanguard ended up lying together.

“Just two little bugs.”

With that, Lulida stepped forward, his shield emitting a purple glow, and the two on the ground were pressed down by a gravitational force, completely unable to move.

Na Naya said nothing, just walking behind Lulida and swinging her whip with full force.

Lulida hadn’t expected Na Naya to come so quickly and took the full whip from scalp to spine, nearly toppling forward, only stabilizing his form at the last moment.

But that was all; after eating the whip, Lulida quickly turned around, pointing his shield at Na Naya.

“You don’t think an attack of this level can defeat me, do you?”

Facing the other’s provocation, Na Naya said nothing, just looking for openings in the opponent.

Logically, this guy’s shield was just a medium shield with limited coverage; as long as she found the right moment, she could perhaps use the whip’s properties to hit the other.

Thinking this, Na Naya channeled magic power into the Flame Giant Whip; nourished by the magic power, the red giant hair ignited with true flames.

As long as she didn’t directly attack its shield, it should be fine, right?

Na Naya thought this and swung the whip.

“I already said it’s useless.”

Lulida was, after all, a B-rank goblin subspecies; though he couldn’t counter before Na Naya’s attack landed, blocking it was more than enough.

The shield easily blocked Na Naya’s whip, and Lulida smashed the iron caltrop directly onto her body, then used the iron caltrop to hoist Na Naya up, hurling her toward Meng Linna like a trebuchet.
