Chapter 9: Berg

Berg lies at the southernmost part of the world.

By global positioning it stands at the extreme end.

Its people believe in Islam.

Though the climate appears hot, it is in fact extremely cold, the greatest contrast of the land.

In ancient times, Berg was a tribe of indigenous people.

The tribe survived by killing and conquering others, becoming dominant.

Calvin Abdul Caesar took power and transformed tribal rule.

He changed murderous savagery into benevolent governance, learning deeply from past disasters.

The nation possesses a traditional weapon — the Karaham Long Blade.

The blade is nearly three meters long, appearing like a sword yet curved, so it is a blade.

The interior lands of Berg are filled with desert.

Yet in the eastern, western, and southern borders lie wide green fields.

In the shade it is very cool, perfect for summer rest.

Border residents all stay there to escape heat.

A poem says:

“On the southern peak of the world stands a nation.
Within lies desert, around grow greenery.
In winter it becomes a forest of needles.
No glaciers or rivers within, a wonder indeed.”

Berg laws are strict and orderly.

Its first rule guarantees all citizen rights.

Citizens may not harm one another or shelter criminals.

If foreign threat appears, they must report it and the government will eliminate it.

Berg borders Vigg and Lagg to the north.

The two rival nations frequently drag Berg into war.

This forces Berg to defend last, suffering greatly.

Berg is no small nation.

From chaotic tribe to present prosperity was not easy.

No one dares betray the nation, and thus it remains stable.
