Chapter 9 : The Address

“You’re exaggerating, Old Luo,” Rachel said modestly.
“I’m not that amazing.”

Then she said to Yuhui, “A person’s energy is limited. I can only learn and practice a certain number of skills and try my best to improve my proficiency. I admit I’m not good with firearms, but I haven’t learned to shoot mostly because I don’t need to. However, when it comes to throwing weapons like knives, I’m quite skilled.”

Hearing this, Yuhui understood.
In this world, many superhumans didn’t rely on firearms for various reasons.
They preferred to use one or two weapons or tools that suited them, and some didn’t use any weapons at all.

However, this usually had one prerequisite: the person was completely confident in their own strength.
Rachel’s answer indicated that she was one of these people, so Yuhui didn’t dwell on it.

Yuhui nodded and said, “Understood. Then it’s just the two of us.”

“What?” Rachel’s face fell.
“Aren’t we arresting a high-level wanted criminal? Why is it just the two of us?”

‘You’ve got to be kidding. Are we going over there to die?’

“I was against it at first too,” Yuhui said.
“But Luo Hao said we were the only ones who could go.”

“What do you mean, Old Luo?” Rachel asked.

“A B-class wanted criminal is no pushover. Sinhe City is just a remote little city. The number of capable superhumans and the quality of our equipment are pitifully low,” Luo Hao explained.
“It’s precisely because I know what level a B-class wanted criminal is at that I’m only sending you and Yuhui.”

“Only you are capable enough. Most of our staff here are administrative personnel and ordinary people who serve as support staff. The remaining superhumans can be counted on one hand, and they would be cannon fodder against Blake Morton. There’s no need for me to send them to their deaths.”

“Oh, so you’re sending me to my death?” Rachel laughed in anger.
“My life doesn’t matter?”

“This is a sign of my trust in you,” Luo Hao said with a matter-of-fact expression.
“I’m at ease entrusting such a great matter of punishing evil to you. This is a great merit. After this is done, I’ll give you a raise, alright?”

“What about logistics? We’ll need people for cleanup, right? And we can’t do everything by ourselves, can we?”

“That’s a given. You can rest assured about that.”

“Fine, whatever you say,” Rachel shook her head.
“Then it’s just the two of us.”

“One more thing,” Luo Hao said.
“The reason I activated the formation is that for this mission, you must keep the entire mission and Yuhui’s identity confidential. I don’t want anyone outside the Bureau of Abnormal Affairs to know about Blake’s matter and Yuhui’s identity.”

“Confidential?” Rachel asked.
“Why?”

“I just spoke with the mayor and the police chief,” Luo Hao said.
“We’ve unanimously decided to keep this confidential to avoid causing panic in the city. Also, this mission is Yuhui’s special mission; we are merely support personnel. This is related to the Astral Academy, and they have requested that we keep everything confidential.”

“I don’t think this approach is feasible,” Rachel said.
“A high-risk wanted criminal, once he makes a move, with the manpower we have, how could we possibly keep it under wraps?”

“If something really happens, we will do our best to conceal it as an accidental disaster. I think Blake will probably avoid making any big moves in public to hide his tracks, and will only expose himself at the last moment. But if we really can’t hide it, then there’s nothing we can do.”

‘What do you mean, “then there’s nothing we can do”?
He says it so lightly, so irresponsibly.’
Rachel pouted.

“Fine,” Rachel said, having no more questions.

“You should stay here at the Bureau for the time being, Luo Hao,” Yuhui said.
“Where are your wife and children? You should bring them over too.”

“They’re not in Sinhe City. They went to the Imperial Capital some time ago. They’re safe there.”

“Good. Then let us handle things from here,” Yuhui said to Rachel.

“I have no more questions,” Rachel said.

“Don’t be so polite with each other yet. The most urgent matter for you now is to find Blake’s hiding place as soon as possible,” Luo Hao said, spreading a map of Sinhe City on the table.
“I’ve already had my people monitor all available surveillance in the city to help you narrow down the search area as much as possible.”

“Oh, speaking of that,” Yuhui said, biting down on the last bit of the lollipop in his mouth and throwing the plastic stick into the trash can.

“When I fought with Blake last night, I secretly planted a tracker on him.”

Yuhui took out a locator.
A red dot on the screen was flashing.
He pressed a button, and the machine projected a virtual hologram, analyzing the shapes of the buildings around the red dot.

“This is… a private villa in the western suburbs,” Rachel said, staring for a few seconds before reacting.
“I’ll go check the homeowner’s information.”

With that, she took a pen from the pen holder on the desk, quickly marked a black dot on the map, and rushed out of the office with the map in hand.
The restraining feeling from “Quiet and Soundless” made her unwilling to stay in the room for even a second longer.
The formation automatically deactivated after the door was unlocked from the inside.

“Then we shouldn’t delay. Let’s move as soon as possible,” Yuhui said, taking his coat and hat from the coat rack.

“I’ll be waiting for your good news here,” Luo Hao said, taking a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, shaking one out, and lighting it with a lighter.

“You want one?” Luo Hao offered the cigarette pack to Yuhui.

“No thanks, I quit.”

“When did you quit?”

“I quit half a year ago. I have to put something in my mouth from time to time now, or I feel uneasy.”

“By the way,” Yuhui said, walking to the office door.
Just as he was about to push it open, he remembered something.
He turned his head and said to Luo Hao:

“Those two guns of yours, they’re pretty well-maintained.”

“I haven’t used them in many years. They’re just hanging on the wall as decorations now,” Luo Hao waved his hand.
“What, you want to use them? Guns enchanted with magic are still quite valuable.”

“No need, you keep them. After all, you’re the one being threatened, and I didn’t bring any bullets that match your guns’ caliber,” Yuhui said, putting on his coat and hat.
“Use those two guns to protect yourself.”

Downstairs at the Bureau of Abnormal Affairs.

“I found it. The owner of that house is named Elina Wood, a 28-year-old single woman who lives alone,” Rachel said, running out of the Bureau’s main entrance to meet Yuhui.
“She lives there alone. I think she’s in grave danger now.”

“Then she’s most likely already dead,” Yuhui said, taking a bag of chips from his car and tearing it open.
“Blake has been in that place for over three hours. He wouldn’t have spared that woman.”

“Want some?” He offered the chips to Rachel.

Rachel didn’t quite understand.
It was a race against time, yet the man was in the mood for a snack.
It was too strange.

“Thanks,” she said politely, taking a chip and putting it in her mouth.
“Then do you think he might have left her alive to use as a hostage against us?”

‘These chips are pretty good.’
Rachel couldn’t help but take another one.
She looked at the brand on the bag, thinking she might buy some for herself later.

The brand was called something like “Huanhuan.”
It seemed to be a brand that was heavily advertised on TV recently, and they had even hired the most popular female star in the Empire as their spokesperson.
What was that actress’s name again?

“Based on my understanding of him, the probability is close to zero,” Yuhui said, opening the car door.
“Get in. Let’s go find him now. You probably don’t need to prepare anything, do you?”

“Go now? We don’t need to prepare?” Rachel asked in surprise.

“That’s why I’m asking you, do you need to prepare anything?” Yuhui said.

“I don’t,” Rachel said.
“Don’t you need to prepare?”

“I don’t either. Let’s go,” Yuhui said, getting into the driver’s seat.
“It’s just the two of us anyway. And Blake Morton could discover the tracker and ambush us at any moment. The longer we delay, the more time he has to prepare.”

Rachel didn’t ask any more questions and got into the car, carrying her water bottle.
