Chapter 91: You Have To Debut, Right?

[Breaking News) Byeolmuri Starting Idol Business]

(Project explanation and recruitment announcement video uploaded on Byeolmuri channel)

-Virtual Idol?

-Why is the wording so funny?

-Idol
└ They’ll probably just call themselves idols in name only lol
└ Right? Japanese ones are always calling themselves idols and acting cute

-Will this actually work?
└ Even if it’s Jina, can some internet broadcaster make it into the mainstream?

-Does the entertainment industry look like a joke to you, Jina~ Osorin~

[But there might be potential]

If you watch Osorin’s leaked stream, the guy said, “Two trainees from our agency,” right?

Doesn’t that mean they’ve actually secured two idol trainees who couldn’t debut?

The guy’s voice also sounds really familiar, seems like it could be from one of the big 3 agencies.

Doesn’t this guarantee their skills?

——————————
-If they’re idol trainees from the big 3, they’re guaranteed to be pretty, so why go virtual?
└ This is true
└ Lmao right?

-Just because they’re trainees doesn’t mean they can leave the agency whenever; they probably brought in ones whose contracts ended. If they couldn’t even debut by the time their contract ended, doesn’t that tell you something?
└ Not all skilled and good-looking kids debut
└ Yeah, if they’re not in a group pushed by the agency, they just fall behind these days

[It would be funny if they actually succeed though]

If the project hits big, they go perform everywhere, hit #1 on Melon charts, that would be hilarious af

Might even appear on Music Bank?

Isn’t this the second coming of SeeU? lolololol

——————————
-Wow SeeU sht, the vicarious embarrassment back then was insane
└ The moment SeeU came out, the audience atmosphere freezing over was hilarious lol

-What’s SeeU?
└ Search SeeU Inkigayo on the internet
└ Ahhh sh
t what is this

-Suddenly feel like cheering them on, I’m f*cking curious to see hipsters carrying around virtual merch lolololol
└ Are you a genius?
└ I’m starting to cheer too lolololol

[Praising Racoon amidst the chaos]

Who the hell is this person?

Osorin’s YouTube Editor

Owns Channel Kirinuki

Byeolmuri YouTube Editor

Content Production

Manager

Vice President

Noona(?)

Plus, watching the leak stream, seems like she’s involved in virtual avatar production too

What on earth does this person do?

——————————
-Noona is important

-Maybe Racoon isn’t one person but the name of a group?
└ Ra/Coon
└ Nah it’s R/a/c/o/o/n

-Even if some are just nominal positions, just looking at the editing, she does a sh*t ton of work
└ Osorin YouTube 1 vid/day, Kirinuki 2 vids/day, Byeolmuri YouTube 2 vids/week… Is this even humanly possible?
└ Insane

-The Great Ra Coon

-Most importantly, being a noona is key
└ Osorin’s unicorns are beaming lol
└ Horn reattached lololol

[Honestly just hope it goes well]

Whether it’s idols or whatever, I’m just glad a company specializing in virtual stuff emerged in Korea

As someone who likes virtual, I just hope it goes well

Thanks to COVID, otaku culture is gradually getting adopted by normies, if VTubers get adopted too, maybe the world won’t insult us as otakus like before

——————————
-Getting insulted as an otaku: X Getting insulted for being an otaku who smells and can’t read the room: O
└ lolololololol

-Definitely seems like otaku culture is becoming more mainstream. Have a few normie friends, they sometimes watch J-pop or anime and tell me it’s fun
└ Imaginary friends don’t exist
└ Don’t lie!!!!!!!!!

-Now they’re even taking away otaku culture…!

-More VTubers is good, but sometimes when I go on Twitch, I feel a sudden aversion
└ Right? Seeing only VTubers lined up makes me a bit weirded out.

-Hope VTubers become even more popular~

I browse through various communities.

Since Byeolmuri is still the only dedicated VTuber company in Korea, news about Byeolmuri seemed to fill every site.

Most of the discussions were about the virtual idol project I announced.

People seemed far less interested in my identity than I thought.

“Well, maybe if I was really young, but female editors aren’t that rare nowadays.”

That being said, since people still readily associate IT industry experts with men, it did become a bit of an issue.

Plus, the amount of work I do isn’t something a typical editor could handle, so that probably amplified it.

“And it seems like no one is identifying me by voice either.”

My voice had already appeared countless times on Dad’s YouTube.

However, I couldn’t find anyone equating Baby Bear, the middle schooler from the vlog <Three Bears>, with Racoon, the Vice President of Byeolmuri.

I didn’t alter my voice for the recording, but perhaps because the image of Racoon as an adult woman was already fixed, people couldn’t easily connect her to a middle schooler.

Well, if someone tried to link a person who edits 23 videos a week and holds the title of Vice President to a middle schooler, even I would question their sanity.

Ironically, while I had hidden my identity, the work and results I had achieved so far perfectly concealed it for me.

However, if there’s one thing that changed after I officially revealed my voice….

– Noona!!!!!!!!! (106 Likes)

– Owner please debut!!! (1.2k Likes)

– You have to debut right? You have to debut right? You have to debut right? You have to debut right? You have to debut right? You have to debut right? You have to debut right? You have to debut right? (926 Likes)

– Why edit with such a voice..! (2.5k Likes)

Comments like these somehow increased on my Kirinuki channel.

There were some comments asking me to stream before, but after the voice reveal, comments urging me to become a VTuber increased exponentially.

Some even received many likes and appeared at the top of the comments section, focusing solely on me rather than the video content.

It’s nice that people are interested in me, but when the comments are flooded with something other than the video’s content, it doesn’t simply feel good.

It’s not respectful to other viewers who came to enjoy the video, nor is it respectful to me, the creator of the video.

Who would like it if I uploaded a video to show something fun, but people talk about something else instead of discussing it?

Inevitably, I posted a comment stating that any comments not related to the video content would be removed.

And when I said I would post something about this later, people finally stopped commenting about me and started enjoying the videos properly.

“Since these people can’t go outside, they seem even more drawn to female voices…”

– Tell me about it. My channel suddenly got a lot of Racoon-ssi related comments too. It was tough cleaning that up.

“I feel bad unnecessarily.”

– No, no, this happened because of my mistake. But really, what are you going to do? If we continue with the mention ban, it might die down like when Racoon-ssi’s name first blew up.

“Hmm, it probably won’t die down that easily this time? It’s a bit different from simply a skilled editor appearing.”

When I first edited Osorin’s videos, I delivered quality unseen at the time at high speed, so it became a hot topic for a while.

However, as other editors’ quality improved, YouTube video quality became standardized upwards, and the quality of my videos wasn’t something to boast about anymore.

Thus, fewer people mentioned my name, and things had quieted down until just recently.

But as long as I officially reveal my voice and remain active, comments about Racoon debuting as a VTuber will continue endlessly.

Even if I strongly express refusal, as long as I continue to make voice appearances as Byeolmuri’s manager, such comments will surely follow like a tag.

“Since it’s come to this, should I just stream?”

Rather than dealing with that stress, wouldn’t it be better to just face it head-on?

That thought suddenly occurred to me.

“Now that my voice is revealed, there’s no reason to keep hiding, right? And honestly, it’s not like I wasn’t interested in streaming.”

– R-Really? You’ll stream?

“I don’t play games, so it’ll mostly be Just Chatting or work streams, though.”

Rather than taking a hard stance with a mention ban, simply turning on a stream occasionally to communicate might actually be a good way to quell excessive attention.

Right now, most people are fixated on the ‘VTuber debut,’ but if I stream, they’ll likely split into those satisfied with the stream and those urging for a VTuber debut.

Public opinion, after all, is about volume.

The easiest way to break up a large group is to divide it into two and make them fight each other.

– That sounds like a politician’s idea.

“Does it?”

– Somehow, the title of Vice President makes more sense now.

‘Vice President is an honorary title, what’s there to understand?’

– But really, you have no intention of streaming professionally? You’d probably do really well if you debuted as a VTuber.

Osorin asked.

Probably, if I turn on a stream, most viewers will ask the same question as her.

“Of course, there are cases where someone who was an illustrator for someone became more famous after becoming a VTuber. But I don’t particularly want to do that.”

I could become a VTuber.

But that’s not the direction I want.

“I prefer making fun things even more fun and showing them to people, rather than being funny myself to entertain people.

That’s why I started editing and sought out Osorin unnie. So I probably won’t make streaming my profession.”

In a manner of speaking, a discoverer.

In a manner of speaking, a craftsman.

In a manner of speaking, a mediator.

I find happiness and enjoyment in those things.

As long as this happiness exists, I probably won’t change my profession.

“I’m not going to become a VTuber.”

This is my conclusion.
